- I had the pleasure of being in New York City for the 2023 Macy's 4th of July celebration! The entire show was 25 minutes long, across five barges, stretching one mile across the East River! It was noted that they shot 60,000 shells, which I'm assuming included cake shots in that figure. The fireworks were shot by Pyro Spectaculars. I did not record the whole show, and that is why I only stitched together 5.5 minutes. Unfortunately, we were on the wrong side of the river from the wind/smoke lol.

Very nice display thanks for the video
My pleasure!
wonderful.. 👌🏻
Short N Sweet, excellent show!
It was like a 25-minute show, and I only chopped up the video because I wasn't recording the entire show. I wanted to, but logistically it didn't work out lol.
Wow, your work trips are cooler than my work trips!
Haha, it definitely has its perks
@@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics Can't wait to watch your 4th of July display! 🗽🇺🇸🎇🎇🎇🎆🎆🎆
I’ve still yet to get on a barge show but that’s on my bucket list for sure!
It's something to experience, but definitely not my favorite to work lol.
The best firework event in the country!
It's one of the biggest firework shows in the country for sure!
What an amazing show to have seen in person, you lucky dog. My own backyard show (9 mods) was awesome (half 1.3, half 1.4 pro) but had to be paused 4 times because we started fires and had to extinguish them--it's been so dry up here in Wisconsin. Kind of ruined the flow and the fun, but everyone still seemed to love it.
It was pretty damn incredible! That is awesome to hear, and I am happy to hear you were safe and paused to put out fires. I would rather deal with the pause then accidentally create an uncontrollable fire
State of the art shells right there. So amazing. -Neal
Seriously, they had some incredible shells in this show
Now that was pretty cool
Glad you liked it!
Want to go see it in person but im always doing my own shows during the 4th!
I feel you man! Ironically enough, work took me there so it worked out.
I know the pyro's that set up the show was annoyed about the weather condition 😔 because them are some awesome shells
Oh yeah, the weather was not very corporative for setup but it finally mellowed out on show day!
Incredible show! Some of those shell's were massive. Any estimate on size? Also noticed early in the video there was a considerable low break on one of the big ones, hope no one got hurt.
I was told there were some 10" shells in there, which I was surprised because I thought NY was limited to 8". There were some killer shells though!
Damn man, I would of had you over for coffee and cake if I knew you were down the road from me! 😁
Damn, maybe next time! Cheers for the thought though
no air smoke staying in one place :(
Wow, what an amazing show. The logistics alone. Beautiful shells. Do you know who shot it?
It was Pyro Spectaculars that shot the show. That had a charter bus to fit the whole crew lol
Wow - I actually used to live in NJ and could see it from our rooftop when they shot it on the NJ side in the Hudson River. I wonder how long that took to script... Maybe they just created one and then duplicated it 4 times in the other position. Would love to know the back story.
Each position was mirrored product with some exceptions of cakes. It's pretty much the same scripting 3, 5, or 10 positions like this. You select all positions you want a shell to go up in, so in this case, they would have had all positions adding shells the whole time.
I googled it and in 2008 they spent $7.2 million on their fireworks display!!! I wonder what they spent this year?!?!!
I wonder if that is for the entire event, like the music acts etc., because DAMN! lol
@@JoelRobinsonPyrotechnics not sure, but the article did mention they used 30,000 shells!!!
@@gripper32001 this year they mentioned 60k shells 😳
The lack of wind and humid air really affected my show this year too ☹️. But holy cow that’s how you light up the sky.
Wind direction and the lack thereof is always a killer lol.
😮 how did you decide where to look?😉 Incredible!
One mile long show, I couldn't decide and is why the camera moved back and forth lol
Canada be like wasn't us this time
Lol right, the days leading up to this show were pretty smokey from the wild fires too. It really cleared just in time.
Great footage! Can’t wait to see your show soon! I know you had to delay it for a little bit.
Thank you sir! It is finally posted now!
Nice show Joel! Was that the show you scripted on Finale 3D 😂😂
No that was my personal show. This was done by Pyro Spectaculars
