Such a shame that David’s career was cut short. He absolutely was on a HOF trajectory. Nice to see the Mets honoring him. Probably my all-time favorite Met.
David Wright is the reason why I fell in love with the sport. My dad is a huge Mets fan and he took me and my brother to a game at Shea on a hot summer day. It was my first baseball game. I don’t remember much about the game asked from the fact that Pedro Martinez was pitching that day and the legend of David Wright. David wright came up to the box, my dad tells me and my brother any time the count gets to 2-0 he will hit a home run. Sure enough the count hit 2-0 and he blasted one into the stands. Later in the game the same thing happened again. I was hooked after that. I will always appreciate David Wright, easily my favorite player of all time
well, the mets need to correct a mistake their about to make, because what should be happening is a double number retirement ceremony not just for david wright but for davey johnson also who wore number 5 BEFORE him.
Just like Ed Kranepool before him, he deserves it for being a life long Met. Which is the point here, not that he never won a championship. Give him his day. Take care everyone.
" HE wright BELONGS IN THE SAME CATEGORY AS ROCKER AND CLEMENS..... BIAST , INDIFFERENCE TOWARDS SOME METS FANS.....I'M A WITNESS. TRUTH BE TOLD. TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUUUUCH HIPE ON THAT individual. A Jim ferrous. LINDOR IS WHAAAAAY ABOVE THAT wright. BEEN A METS FAN SINCE 1970'S.

both he an Mattingly. Each had one half of a Hall of Fame Career, ruined by back injuries
@ Agree.
Yes. He would’ve been a hall of famer even if he just continued with a .290 BA and 20 HRs for a few more years.

Too bad he never won a championship. He deserved it in 2006.
David will always be our captain
Tom Seaver was the reason I fell in love with the Mets. But David Wright’s number 5 is the jersey I proudly own. Long live Captain America. 🫡
I think they learned their lesson to schedule these ceremonies in warm weather, unlike the Gooden one that took place in April.
Love you David !!!
Thank you, Ryan, for the long view. I love Pete Alonzo. I love David Wright.
What's most sad is that Wright finally made it to the World Series in 2015 only to lose. He deserved to win.
David wright was my absolute bar none, favorite player growing up. I cried when he retired. I’ll likely cry when his number goes up. 😢

Wright was an amazing ball player. His numbers before he got beaned by Cane were off the charts. Dwarfed Jeter’s to that point.
Willie Mays was a promise kept for Mrs. Payson, by Mr. Cohen.
Reyes debut was in 2003, a full season before David. What are you talking about?
3:27 that sounds a little ridiculous! I’m not gonna lie to you
What sounded ridiculous there? I guess I missed it.
3 numbers retired recently is NOT the floodgates being open. Jerry Koosman was deserved, no matter what!
mets fans out there should be clamoring for the mets to retire number 5 for both davey johnson and david wright.
that is what i wish they would do.
Deserves to have number retired ..
well what about davey johnson who wore number 5 BEFORE david wright he deserves it also how can he be left out.
@ Davey was great never should have been fired and Wilpons too stupid to bring back as a manager
@@StarCooki3 the mets ought rethink this a do a double retirement number ceremony on july 19 for not just the 1 david but 2 davids.
next number to retire: 45, Tug. And Franco Two screwballs (Pitchers)
next number to retire how about number 5 for davey johnson also who wore it BEFORE david wright.
@@bobojeda4895 bring in Davey with David Wright. Yogi and Gary Carter both wore 8
@@Cheryworld yeah the mets should rethink this over and do the double retirement number ceremony this july 19 for davey johnson and david wright.
