Will be hard tuning this i4 more than 500hp. It needs much more cooling because the engine is fitted on the rear of the car. I heard Lotus already kinda struggled with the cooling on the basic i4 but made it in the end. Unlike the AMG cars , they get cooling easier because engine is at front
I drove a tuned CLA45s (new type) with just under 500 HP for a few days, that thing would run hot also very fast and limit performance as a result. Cooling is key with these engines.
Lotus de-tuned the engine not only to let the v6 have more power in the line-up, but also because that engine CAN handle that amount of power and torque (421hp-500nm) only if it’s placed in the front of the car, having way way better cooling than if it was put on the back. So they lowered the power due to the fact engine cant really handle that power without being cooled hard as on the front of the car.
For about the same price, I recently got a Porsche 718 Spyder. Why is it more special, it's a convertible. lol If the Emira was like the Elise or Exige, with a removable top, I would have gotten it.

Well done for noticing the issue with the front brake. High speed vibration and excessive brake dust are both clear signals of a brake dragging. Not sure who supplied the car in this condition, but that’s obviously not good… I suspect this is entirely the cause of the higher-speed actual vs claimed performance though - there is no reason why a non-faulty 365 bhp Emira should be so much slower than a series1 EvoraS that has 350bhp….
Nice Video, at Lotus Store they told us, taht the V6 version of the Emira ist no more to order because Lotus stoped the Production of the V6. So only the 4-Zylinder is to order in Germany.
Within the first two minutes you've made two errors. The V6 auto is 6 speed not 8 - and no they didn't de-tune it so that it would be less than the V6 - they had to de-tune it to be able to keep it cool enough. You'd think with 3.9m subscribers you'd do your homework a little better.

I drove the V6 and was very disappointed with it. But I really want this model to be good, because if you're like me and think that most supercars are too big and fast for the road but still want the supercar presence and experience then this is the car for you. But unfortunately the Alpine A110 is way more fun to drive.

Something big missing in the review is that all new Emiras with the i4 AMG engine will come with 400 hp from factory, and increased torque as well.... big difference
I test drove it and imo it feels completely weird in any case.... as a former Elise S220 and Exige S2 owner, I had very hard times to discover the Lotus element and feeling in the Emira AMG... in principle not a bad car at all, but not a Lotus!

The combination of 60-degree V8 and flatplane crank gives a very unique sound, and of course the Volvo Yamaha V8 is already designed for transverse installations. Whether it meets Euro 6E or Euro 7 emissions is quite the more pertinent question though, unfortunately.

The f430 is also in times were there weren't this much regulations. They should put a daza 2.5 tfsi in the lotus emira. Perfect balance. Very good tuning and reliability and with a right exhaust setup and higher rev limiter it sounds like a r8.

The “official” reason for the detune is temperature management but maybe in a near future we will know more about it
100-200 is slower than the 300bhp A110S. So same issue with both the V6 and the I4 --- what is this Emira doing with all its power?
