As we are travelling from Kanazawa to Nikko, we are not travelling through Asakusa, so I understand I will have to pay for a different train fare from Tokyo to Nikko. Correct. Activate the eticket in the Klook app just before you board your first bus in Nikko. Show the eticket (which has a count down timer) to the bus driver or train conductor and you are all set. Happy travels!

I booked the regular Nikko all area pass through klook and upgraded to limited express train at the station. Based on my one experience, I found Klook trustworthy and easy to use. Nikko pass doesn’t cover admission to world heritage site or edo wonderland, it only covers transportation to those attractions

From a pure economic and convenience standpoint, it’s worth it bc the 4-day pass is cheaper than buying all tickets individually. However, covering that much ground in one day will be incredibly rushed and tiring. You will spend more time in trains/buses than actually sightseeing

However, if you upgrade to the limited express train aka Revalty, then no transfer is necessary bc it is a direct train from asakusa to tobu
#4 regular train takes 2.5-3h w 2 transfers. Limited express train takes just under 2 hours. You can check Jorudan for exact train schedule, transfer info. Happy travels!

Hi there! Yes you absolutely can buy 4-day pass even if you return before the fourth day. For limited express train, you need to specify the day and time and you will get a specific seat number. You can upgrade to limited express on day of travel at the station. That’s what I did.

As long as you are within two days of activation (aka when you use pass for first time) then you can use pass to go back, but you have to take regular train unless you upgrade to Revalty for Nikko-Asakusa. Revaty roundtrip bought separately costs about 6700yen. 2-day nikko world heritage pass plus discounted revaty upgrade costs about 6000yen. 4-day nikko all area pass plus discounted revaty upgrade costs about 8500yen. Hi there. I personally have not taken JR Line to Nikko however it can be easily done. There are two stations in Nikko, one run by Tobu and another run by JR. There are many routes possible. One route is to start in Tokyo station, transfer at Utsunomiya station, and arrive in Nikko JR station. You can find alternative routes on Jorudan website and filter to JR Pass. Good luck!

Hi there. Yes the pass covers the base fare allowing you to ride regular train only. To ride limited express train, you can upgrade your pass. There are several limited express including Spacia X and revaty. I rode revaty only. Spacia X is newer and fancier. Enjoy!

You should get the Nikko Pass first and then upgrade to the limited express at the tobu travel center to enjoy a discount on the limited express. Otherwise you won’t get the discount. Don’t worry, there are several limited express per day. They are never full unless you go during golden week 4/29 or cherry blossom season

There's a huge problem with this pass. You must pay the express ticket unless you want to miss the whole day because there are no slow trains until very late (leaving Asakusa at midday).
Good question. Nikko Pass covers local and express trains that run on the Tobu-Nikko line between Asakusa and Tobu Nikko station. The upgrade is for the “limited express” train that runs on the same line, aka Revaty train

hi there lwwq! the 2-day pass includes round trip asakusa-nikko on regular tobu train (aka express and local trains). you will have to make at least one transfer unless you upgrade to tobu limited express train (aka revaty) which costs extra. bridge and shrines are all within walking distance of the nikko train station. kegon fall is not within walking distance and you'll need to take a local public bus which is not included in the 2-day pass, but bus fare is very cheap. have fun lwwq!
