  • Today we are testing to see how the differences in a slug power kit vs not having one change the velocities.

    So good to see a father and son interact with each other the way you two do. Love the mix of information interspersed with your BS. Great video.

    I got 23 fps faster with my 25 cal. 150 bar. So I can use the lowest hammer setting to get what I was getting at the highest hammer setting. I also used the Huma v2 transfer port to get that 23 fps faster. I will use less air, less fill ups and be able to use heavier slugs now. So worth it to myself.

    you need to crank Reg2 to at least 150 bar with the Slug Power Kit, the valve spring is now useless, your high reg 2 pressure is now what somehow controls your valve.

    Thanks for the comparisons. Definately get the first rfegulator on like 170 and that second regulator on 150 bar. Vlave dial on line 4 or close to it, and see what your speed is. Start at 1000fps, and turn in valve adjuster until your speed starts dropping. this setting is best for power as well as less air consumption.

    I installed the slug power kit with my .25 cal 600mm. I got around 8-10 fps more. The advertised from fx was 50-80fps more in the .25 cal. That is all a lie. You will not get 50-80 fps increase. Fx needs to change their advertised to 10 fps increase so folks can decide if they want to spend $40 on 10fps increase.

  • @robbypro3370

    The rubber ball shuts your valve faster, not leaving it open longer. The slug power kit also comes with a weaker hammer return spring with that rubber ball, which it doesnt do much anymore, so leave the rubber ball in there to dampen the hammer rod.

      The speed increase is minimal however the real selling point is the tensioning system that it has to reduce harmonic vibrations and also we got ours with the slug liners which are definitely worth the investment.

    HIGHLY recommend ditching the stock probe carrier for the K&L Ultra grip probe carrier. Bigger set screw that doesn't strip as easily as well as having another screw to ensure that the probe is rock solid.

    • @bowmanoutdoors
      @bowmanoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Already swapped it out for the NSA pin probe and like it. Having it to do all over again, that’s all I would have done but not going to take it apart to replace the hammer spring spacers at this point. They can just stay in place for now.
      Thanks for watching and for the feedback.

    I just bought a slug power kit and I heard you say something about the rubber ball that you have to put inside the valve spring . Does it decrease the velocity or what ? I dont know if I will leave the oem spring or change it and make the one with the kit . What do you recommend ? Thanks for the info . Greatly appreciated guys .

    • @bowmanoutdoors
      @bowmanoutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The little rubber ball hindered our velocities drastically. (100-150 fps). I did not see much difference between the OEM spring and the slug kit spring so we went with the new one. The one thing we didn’t try was the OEM spring with the rubber ball. That might be interesting. 😁
      Thanks for watching and commenting!!!

    On one of your videos after the slug kit was installed... One gun worked fine but the other one would not shoot properly with the rubber ball installed. What was the problem? Mine is doing the same thing

    • @bowmanoutdoors
      @bowmanoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Removing the rubber ball was the biggest difference. We also had to end up retuning after install, and we still do not run the rubber ball in either gun.

    The valve adjuster needs to be turned in, to compensate for high pressures.

    In order to see significant gains of fps and FPE, you have to upgrade the barrel with heavy slug liner and longer barrel options and probe pin with tungsten heavy spring. If you have 600mm put 700mm with heavy slug liner fast twist barrel liners and for more go all out with the 800mm barrel.

    • @bowmanoutdoors
      @bowmanoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We are running 700mm barrels. There was some improvement once we took the little rubber ball out. Continue to run them like that without issue. Thank you for your comment.

      @@bowmanoutdoors Something isn't rite if you have to take FX factory tested designed parts out of the rifle to make them work better. It can be defective regulator valve stuff. I've seen messed up regulator parts that are being sold new. Utah Airguns pro shop may have answers for it. Mine shoot superb out of the box but I got them when quality control was a lot better before the COVID era happened. It's hard to find superb parts now . My next tinkering session is with the new FX Panthera model. I do own many air rifle models. The good ole FX Crown is still seems the way to go or the Wildcat mk3

    • @bowmanoutdoors
      @bowmanoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct sir. After making the video, I messed up and stored the rifles for a month or longer without pressure and messed up some seals. Not being able to acquire the correct replacements after hours and hours of research and multiple trials of substitutes, we worked with FX USA and got everything fixed correctly. They were great to work with (so is Utah Air) and things are still running smooth. I’d like to see better regulators across the board in general though.

      @eddiecahall3824 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bowmanoutdoors yeah. Good to hear you're getting fixed up. The regulator thing does need to be addressed. I can't figure why in the world such a awesome famous company can let this stuff go on. They've did some changes coming out with the newer Panthera models,I'm wondering if they've done something to counter with it. I hear it has state of the art components! I'm going to test the waters soon. Hopefully it's as good as they claim. I've already heard tho that the .25 cal models are having issues with the barrels? Hmmm 🤔

    • @bowmanoutdoors
      @bowmanoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s unfortunate. I ordered and paid for a panthera , but changed my mind after a few months of waiting. Maybe a good thing hearing about the barrels also. I’ll pick one up one of these days! (Maybe the TH-cam thing will eventually bring resources in, rather than always out). It gets costly doing everything times 2, but worth every cent to have the time with my son

    I have an FX Impact M3 do I need a slug pack with new springs?

    • @bowmanoutdoors
      @bowmanoutdoors  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thats a tough question.
      It isn’t overly expensive, but install isn’t just plug and play. I would say yes, if part of a larger modification including slug liner, slugs over 42gns, hammer weight, and maybe reg 2 upgrade. It alone won’t get you much performance. Ultimately, it’s up to you and if it aligns with the longer term goal.
      Btw, love the profile pic. I am new to reefing and have a pair of mocha storm clowns. Love them!

    • @bowmanoutdoors

      If you do the install expecting significant gains in performance you maybe disappointed. If you add it to other modifications or enjoy tinkering with things then the value is there. It’s inexpensive but moderately complex installation. I would do it again but not solely for performance gains.

    This was complete waste of a video, the speed you gained is what you would gain by just simply rotating the barrel 180 degrees. Tune the guns now with the kit and see if you can get those 40 grain slugs over the 850fps mark now with the mods. It should be able to get those 40 grainers over 1100fps now

    • @bowmanoutdoors
      @bowmanoutdoors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like you loved the video. 😂. We will try your suggestions, but I currently do not have issues with getting slugs fast enough. I just want to stay clear of the transonic zone to assist with ballistics and flight stability. I could try going much faster though and see if it helps. I currently have too many variables to get very consistent and precise results.
