    Great Video
Are you able to book specific seats on Transport for Wales trains ?
My wife and I are thinking about taking a short break in Cardiff, from Newcastle early in 2024 and prefer trains with proper seat allocations, like with LNER. You can look at a plan of the train and actually pick from the available seats at the time of booking .. which seems the perfect way of doing things.
We have just returned from a trip to Manchester & Liverpool with TransPennine Express and on both journeys there were problems regarding seat allocations. It was our first time with TPE and to be honest, we weren’t too impressed. Sadly a trip to Cardiff will probably also involve TPE.
    Regards from Whitley Bay

Glad you enjoyed the video from what I can see transport for Wales don't have reserved seats although don't hold me to that I was using a rover so I certainly didn't have any reserved seats.
However you can use Cross Country all the way from Newcastle to Cardiff by changing at Derby. Incidentally Whitley Bay is a favourite destination of mine and there are plenty of videos taken there on my channel focusing mainly on St Mary's
