Here after I heard the news that Anatoly Kvochur unfortunately passed away at 72 years old. (Very sorry to tell you that). He was a great test pilot and the creator of "Bell Manuever" (shown at 2:57) And now I'm here to watch your vid as a tribute to his skills and achievements in Soviet and Russian aviation. I believe, we'll never have test pilots as good as him. Godspeed and fly high...
@@anthonyfeng6180 Lockheed is absolutely quality over quantity, it's just that their main clients have budgets so ridiculously large that whole idea of 'not being able to afford something' goes straight out the window.
That is entirely incorrect. Early Sukhoi platforms were generally outperformed by the Mikoyan counterparts, and Mikoyan is responsible for the one and only Soviet/Russian airframe to even come close to matching its foreign contemporaries: The MiG-29. Of course, since the fall of the USSR, neither Mikoyan nor Sukhoi has produced a single new design with any serious changes from Soviet-era programs.
@@anthonyfeng6180well, with regards to quality: The F35 has incredibly high down-time in the USAF and the software is also still in need of improvement.
Ilyushin isn't really fit for an edit imo. Maybe Tupolev and Mil, but Ilyushin is mostly just a bunch of transport aircraft. Uralvagonzavod should probably get an edit as well. Personally I'm mostly waiting for SAAB and Rafael.
Great edit, love KINO/KNHO Glad you yoused "Summer is ending" Edit: Also, still concerned about the feasability of Flankers being puke machines, feel bad for the less-trained pilots
Fun fact: Sukhoi aircraft do not run on vodka, despite how much has been requisitioned as fuel alternatives.
All Sukhoi aircraft require vodka to operate. One airframe uses vodka as part of the coolant. Those two statements are not related.
SCIENCE!!
@@malloc7108the supersonic booze carrier right?
Yes, exactly.. Its how the Soviets transport their Vodka@@ag6778
Only Tupolev aircraft run on Vodka. 😂

While Mikoyan primarily valued "Quantity over Quality"
Sukhoi valued "Quality over Quantity".
Lockheed Martian: Why not both ( insert F35 )

@@uku4171 Ilyushin has a ton of combat aircraft history, especially around the WW2 and post-WW2 era
@@codenamecrusade1083 Sure, but this channel focuses more on Cold War - modern era and combat aircraft really aren't what Ilyushin excels at.

Ive always liked Sukhoi aircraft, they have a way of making them look so nice. my personal favorite is probably the SU-17/22 series.

And here I was, thinking that you were biased to the West.
Sukhoi did NOT won the "Fighter jet race" in Russia/USSR, cuz MiG was making next gen jets BEFORE Sukhoi even STARTED making plans or SU-47.

Soviet equipment has such a cool aesthetic, keep it up Index!
