  • A Water Source Heat Pump (WSHP) system is an efficient and flexible HVAC solution that uses a water loop to transfer heat for both heating and cooling. Each heat pump unit in the building zones extracts or rejects heat from the loop, depending on the demand.
    A cooling tower and a boiler regulate loop temperature, ensuring year-round efficiency. When paired with a plate and frame heat exchanger, the system is protected from contaminants in open cooling tower water, reducing maintenance and improving performance.
    This setup is ideal for commercial buildings, offering zoned temperature control, energy efficiency, and lower operating costs.

    so they are like systems with chillers but the conditioned side is on the room
    pros:
    efficiency
    there aren't conditioned pipes that can go down to 44°f
    customizability
    there are many chillers that are adjusted instead of a valve regulating the flow
    cons:
    size
    each fan coil needs its own cycle
