Please do not put both carry on items in the overhead compartment. As someone who travels a lot this gets so annoying because there is only enough room for one carry on to go above, so space will run out and then other people will be forced to "check in" a carry on that can only fit in the over head compartment. They will do it free of charge, BUT it gets annoying because its something that you dont expect or got prepared for having it taken away from you and checked in. Another thing that starts to happen when you put multiple carry ons in the over head compartment is that since your taking up more space than you should be and theres not enough room for the other people in your row or across your row, they will go to other random over head compartments and next thing you know, people's bags are scattered all over the plane. This makes it annoying because its not actually by you and when getting off the plane you have to disrupt the flow of everyone getting off. So pleeeeease when traveling, dont put all your carry ons in the over head compartment . One above, one below.
Or you can just put both your bags in the overhead and watch as the plane fills up. If you then need to move your 2nd bag down below to be courteous, you can! But you'd be surprised how often it all works out and you can keep both bags in the overhead space and enjoy the extra legroom!
I agree! I really hate people who can't stick to the rules. And then complain if they are denied boarding when they are too late or their bag is too big for the plane. Seriously people, the rules are in place only because of the irresponsible f**** like that! Ryanair just downgraded their bag allowance because idiots like that were carying ovrrsized bags on the plane and taking too much space. I would deny every single oversized bag, untill those morons learn to stik to the allowed bag size. I really hate people who have no consideration for other passengers.
@@mgersin or wait till everyone's has there 1st bag in the over head compartment, then once everyone's done that I there's room put your second bag up there too
I use big ziplock bags instead of packing cubes because you can compress them like crazy, no vacuum needed. I haven't travelled with checked luggage for years!
Just wanted to add that depending on where you're flying and what airline, you can't just stuff your carryon with whatever you want as long as it zips. Sometimes they won't let you take that on the plane if it doesn't fit into their measuring square thing, or if it weighs over 20lbs. I had to check in my carry on a couple of times. Even though the suitcase was selling as "average carryon" size. Same goes for the purse, some airlines will count the duffle bag as a carry on rather than a purse. Just something to keep in mind.
Never ever had my carry on weighed...it just has to fit the dimensions they will allow but there is never a weight limit unless you check it, then it's got to be under 50lbs.
keepinitreal My last flight to Europe my carry on bag was weighed and it had to be 16 lbs or less. The bag empty is 5 lbs. I had to take most of my clothes out and wear them on the flight. Mid-July and I'm wearing 3 skirts, a pair of leggings, 3 blouses, a jacket, and my raincoat. I had to stick my extra pair of shoes in my purse to make it work.
I work for the airlines... basically she can take her Louis Vuitton duffel cuz it can fit under the seat in front of her. That's pretty much the FAA rule.
I love how real these tips are. Bagception happens everytime I travel. I'll take a backpack for the flight because it's super comfortable and the no.1 thing I reccomend when travelling, but I'll stick my handbag/purse inside it with my essentials as well. Great video, as usual!
Hey carly! what size is your lv duffle? i have the same one and never use it as a personal item, though i'm intrigued that you do.. have you had any trouble using it as a personal item?? xx
If you roll your clothes instead of folding not only does it keep them from wrinkling it saves a ton of space and if you are going on a long trip you can use the packing cubes and roll your clothes it's honestly a life saver 👌
This video is perfect! I was wondering if you have any tips on how to pack liquids onto a carry on. With all of my skin care, makeup, toiletries, etc. how do you pack that all and meet TSA guidelines?
I just recently started flying and I was so confused about packing until I saw this video. I love your style and your personality. And I was wondering if you could help me with my packing situation? I have a carry-on size suitcase and I was looking into buy a Louis Vuitton keepall like you have. to use as a personal bag but I didn't know what size was too big I was looking at the 55 or 50. If you could let me know what size yours is that would help loads? Thank you
I had two suitcases and a duffle for a 5-day trip last week. Only wore 20% of what I had -- this video was no coincidence 😒. Carly--what size is your Eagle Creek Folder? Medium or Large?
I saw you pack makeup in your suitcase. Is your suitcase your carry on too? And Doesnt it have to be in clear 1quart ziploc bag and less than 100ml for liquids?
I pack similarly but use a backpacking pack...But it's so nice...When I travel I from time to time will couch surf at friends houses. Haha having things in separate bags is so helpful if you are crashing in someones living room. It helps you stay organized and looking good and keep your stuff in a little corner ;) I'll try to do a video next time I go somewhere...
I used to do the wear your heaviest pieces until once I wore my tall boots on my trip to London. Mistake. My legs were swollen because of the flight and I couldn't zip them back up. Now I always wear slip on shoes and pack my heavy boots, even though that sucks
pro tip if your bag is too heavy: before going through security go to the bathroom and dress up with all your clothes and heaviest shoes. after that, go to the bathroom, undress and pack it back 😉 i did this once when i came back from a trip and i bought soo much stuff, i was literally wearing 5 shirts and 3 blouses and jeans over jeans at the same time. just be careful to plan ahead what you're going to wear over what so you don't waste time or end up with a bra over a shirt or smth
When flying, bring along a reusable shopping bag inside your carry-on "personal" item. When you get on the plane, put your nice duffel inside it so it protects it. ☺
I like to pack a lightweight laundry bag! That helps me stay organized and keep gross dirty things like my husband's socks away from all my clean clothes so I don't smell like his feet for the whole trip. ✌️
Always go with the essentials when packing. Store toiletries in silicone containers like that from Roadeavour instead of bringing big containers. You'll be saving the environment when re-using bottle containers too!
+Sakina Sehgal it is definitely not the largest one The largest one is giant and you would never be able to bring it as a personal bag but I really want to know what size it is because I want to but one to use for personal bag

of course. you can also use makeup/cosmetic pouches, in addition to baggies or instead of baggies. I use all three - cubes, baggies, pouches, mix and match depending on trip duration or activities..
in 61 days I'm making a trip to the UK my first trip since 2001 by myself, usually my mom goes with me but I lost her almost 3 years ago, yes I'm an adult but never been over 3500 miles away from home alone, exciting but scary at the same time, I've been binge watching videos on how to pack suitcases to save space, everybody is saying carry on only so I got one and an looking on how to save space, how to pack it, because I plan on bringing a few items back with me, not too much tho...I really don't want to bring my big suitcase as 3/4ths of my "pants" are leggings lol any suggestions from those of you that fly alot would be appreciated
What about toiletries though?! That's the toughest part about only bringing a carry-on IMO because I always hate transferring all my skincare and hair products into travel size bottles. I'm too lazy and usually end up throwing them in a bag that I can check. :/
I can't use mainstream travel sized skincare that you can buy at target or whatever since I have sensitive skin. I have to buy bottles and fill them myself. Just a minor inconvenience, that's all.
+AllieMcReal same here. I just leave those products I have transferred to smaller goop container in the clear bag and pull them out for security. then they go back in my toiletries bag easy peasy.
How do you get on with the weight restriction of your carry on? Like I know you can fit a lot of stuff in your carry on roller bag but how do you go when the weight limit is only like 7kg?
Love your videos, girl you are straight to the point!! I love it!!! I have a question, your pieces of your wardrobe collection are they as well for Plus size girls?? if not u should look into that. Thanks!!
I could not find them anywhere in Australia - I went into Strandbags & all those sort of stores and they didn't really seem to know what I was talking about, lol , might have to order them online.
Can I put clothes in my carry on bag? I'll be visiting my family for the first time abroad and I'm not planning to bring any luggage bag. Any suggestions or tips?
could you do some sort of look-book for what you would wear if you were in high school? I want to be fashionable but still comfortable and I absolutely love your neutral style!! I wear a ton of neutrals too! thanks! :-)
Talk about multi-tasking. Youre amazing! Filming a video while waiting for your ride to the airport! You must to a video on how you multi-task. Truly my hero!
I love this video so much! Your packing videos are some of my favorites! And seriously, I am so inspired by your "lack of color"! It makes things easier for sure!
Ohmygod. I am travelling in a few days, and i'm looking for tips for packing, then i looked at recently uploaded and saw this video from you!! PERFECT!!! You would be the one to give the best advice anyway, so, i'm very happy!! :)
As a person who also travels a lot. I totally do the same kinds of things. Never check luggage unless you are going for a lengthy visit. Anything under a week. Carry-on only.
Love this video and want more tips on travel please, including packing. To share, I use travel time to test out those free samples I love to get. Second, I have a substantial "travel basket" on my closet shelf that holds everything from the free samples to my travel size containers to travel candles to extra cords to cosmetic bags to shoe bags, etc. This one-stop-shopping has made packing easier & more fun.
Be careful with the duffel bag as purse thing because sometimes airlines will make you put all your carryon luggage (including your "purse") into a cage that shows the maximum allowed size. With a duffel bag you will be forced to pay an additional fee. This only happens with the super cheap airlines though.
Not air Canada for sure but they do make you measure your carry-on if it looks too large to them. They have strict specifications about handbag size too
i went on a week vacation to puerto rico and i used the space bags that need a vacuum to suck out the air although i did save a lot of save in my luggage it caused soooo many wrinkles in my clothes and everything had lines and didn’t fit the way they had to so in my opinion i don’t really recommend them especially when you have to iron them and it’s hot weather where you’re at
I know that this is going to sound super weird but i love your videos and I watch them over and over cuz im obsessed with neutrals and I wish my room looked like that, I have a small problem...... I ran out of videos to watch cuz I watched them all. I cant wait until your next video
Hi, I recently started following u here and ig. I'm actually so happy I stumbled upon ur page. Ur style is so me and I have to say that u really inspired me. Thanks for the humorous and informative videos! I love ur style! 💕 I always loved that monochromatic, tone on tone and neutral/earthy look and u just confirmed to me that it can be versatile and fabulous looking. Thanks again!!
f I am traveling internationally on long trips, but will be moving around a lot on the trip (I don't like backpacks), I will say to check-in your carry-on so you won't have to worry about the ml liquid requirement. That way you can still carry a duffel bag as the youtuber but without having the need to insert your personal handbag into the duffel. However, if you do plan on boarding with your carry-on, then the only liquid you should worry about is your perfume and body lotion since most other hotels etc. provide shampoos, etc. or you can go with a Sakina Sehgal's suggestion.
could u make a video about the outfit's u would take with u on a vacation/ trip. For example 5 oufit's for a week in NYC or on a vacation to a very hot place. That would be very great and I'm sure very inspireing. (excuse my english im originally from Berlin, Germany)
Hi, Carly- new subbie here. Loved the video. Any suggestions for traveling to a climate very different from where you live. I go to PHX alot as my son lives there. Even when it is summer, arriving there when it is 105 to 115° is hard. Winters are tough too as it may be snowing here and 60 to 75° there. I usually take lightrail to the airport so must dress appropriately for here. Any suggestions would help! Kathleen
Hey Carly! I found your channel a couple days ago and watched all of your videos, I need more of theeeem they're the best!... I really want to start making youtube videos, it has always been in the back of my mind but it scares me, Can you give me an advice? Love youuuu!
Thanks for the tips! I hate dragging anything through the airport so I usually just have a small backpack but the tips are still good for checked luggage. I love packing cubes!
What about emotional baggage??

Use big ziploc bags and once it’s full roll it towards the zip and then zip it and ALL the air is out. BOOM save so much space

What about toiletries though?! That's the toughest part about only bringing a carry-on IMO because I always hate transferring all my skincare and hair products into travel size bottles. I'm too lazy and usually end up throwing them in a bag that I can check. :/
many of your skincare routine things existe in smaler sizes. if you travel as much as she does it is very good to have small sizes
I can't use mainstream travel sized skincare that you can buy at target or whatever since I have sensitive skin. I have to buy bottles and fill them myself. Just a minor inconvenience, that's all.
on short trips i bring sample sachets that you can usually request from brands
Honestly most skincare comes in bottles of 100mL or smaller unless it's like a giant bottle of face wash or toner

Kathmandu has amazing packing cubes 😊
I saw some at Big W earlier this week :)
what is your big outdoor lifestyle place. check there. or travel agencies.
Are packing cubes really that efficient? I’ve been debating on ordering them, but I feel like they take up more space?

Be careful with the duffel bag as purse thing because sometimes airlines will make you put all your carryon luggage (including your "purse") into a cage that shows the maximum allowed size. With a duffel bag you will be forced to pay an additional fee. This only happens with the super cheap airlines though.
Thanks that will be air canada and new leaf.....
+a r lol true
So which airlines count as super cheap
Not air Canada for sure but they do make you measure your carry-on if it looks too large to them. They have strict specifications about handbag size too
+Sakina Sehgal Maybe spirit airlines their fees are ridiculous
You can get travel versions of the space bags - you roll them to get rid of the air.
i went on a week vacation to puerto rico and i used the space bags that need a vacuum to suck out the air although i did save a lot of save in my luggage it caused soooo many wrinkles in my clothes and everything had lines and didn’t fit the way they had to so in my opinion i don’t really recommend them especially when you have to iron them and it’s hot weather where you’re at

LOVE YOU! So am going to London. Why kind of tennis shoes do you suggest? also too, what leggings are your fave?
What do you do about liquids?? Pls someone answer! I have trouble actually fitting all needed liquids into a small bag
Go the $1 section in Walmart or target and get a bunch of those tiny travel size bottles and fill up your face washes and stuff in that
f I am traveling internationally on long trips, but will be moving around a lot on the trip (I don't like backpacks), I will say to check-in your carry-on so you won't have to worry about the ml liquid requirement.
You can use travel size bottles but get empty ones or dump the whatever out. Use multi little bottles of what you need more than the 100 ml limit of.
could u make a video about the outfit's u would take with u on a vacation/ trip. For example 5 oufit's for a week in NYC or on a vacation to a very hot place. That would be very great and I'm sure very inspireing. (excuse my english im originally from Berlin, Germany)
Where is your top from! love it, want it, need it
Hi, Carly- new subbie here.
