When I deciphered the tares and the wheat, I cam to the same conclusion. First the tares are gathered up in destroyed in the fire. Then the reapers will gather the wheat unto the masters barn. Later the disciples came to the Christ and and asked him to explain is parable. Jesus broke everything down and explained everything.

I think the answer is that God's faithful people are fleeing to the mountains following the death decree for Sabbath keepers. They will most likely be aware that probation has closed. The final chapters of the Great Controversy would give more light.
