    Probably a blessing in disguise. Those stock rocker shaft assemblies need to be put in a plastic box on the shelf and some good aftermarket adjustable assemblies put in place. The stock shafts are just waiting to break the unsupported ends off. Time to add a roller cam and some matching springs and some Manton or Trend pushrods.

    Couple years ago I bought a 67 mustang with a 427 FE.
    Owner was insisting that he start it before I bought it.
    Car had been sitting a few years. Carbs were leaking gas.
    I told him I'm going to pull the engine and take it apart. So don't worry.
    That's what I do with any old car.
    It's the best thing anyone can do when you buy these cars.

    It broke something, it didn't blow up. I was expecting him to put a rod out the side of the block or thru the pan. It's going to be expensive, that's what FE stands for. Not totally killed though.

    My Brother had that exact car his had all the GT rims with the hubcaps he got hitched and sold it big mistake
