If you can find a square relatively larger container for the bottom part of the barbecue , you could fill it up with sand , attach the barbecue to the sand bed and it should retain heat a bit more , not the best solution but with limited supply its possible
Nate, you're simply the best! You've inspired me to be more creative in my daily life, and to make things on my own. I really appreciate what you and Calli do!
Does the plastic liner in the can cause problems when burnt? I would think that it would be better to heat the can up to burn off the plastic a few times, and then you can cook with it.
I reuse those large cans as horse or goat grain scoops. 3 lbs of grain in a level scoop, either way the cans i have, contained either coffee or brooks chili beans to start and weren't lined. So i imagine it depends on the contents and the cannery.
Looks great! I would suggest that you lay out and drill the holes for the hinges, handle, and legs AFTER emptying the can but BEFORE cutting it in half. I think the more rigid sides will be easier and safer to drill.

Actually there are even larger cans than that available in Europe. Speaking as a German I have bought cans of kale that are roughly twice that sice. So you could build an even larger BBQ under the condition that you like kale of course ;-)
@@janschuback585 I must have gone to the wrong stores. Never seen any of that size in Billa, Lidl, Aldi, Merkur usw. :D Think the biggest I have seen usually in stores was 1.5kg - 2kg.
Another little tip to go along with this, The yellow tin snips obviously do the job, but, I believe the red handle version may have a better angle for cutting the can. Also if you don't fully cut (squeeze the handle on the shears all the way together) you don't usually create the serrated edges. Cool little project though!

Use high frequency sound waves to cook hot dogs.
