    What is the significance of 'i'? Is this the total no. of rivets? If yes, then why we were taking the value of i as 3 in the previous problems? Please resolve my doubts.

      i is the number of of rivet in a row...

      @@themechanicalengineer then why the value of i was taken 3 in spite of having 2 no. of rows of rivets in the previous some problems? and here is taken i as 2.

      In previous problem the number of rivets in a cross-section is 3... In boiler its 2..

    In Fc u have used i=3 but in other steps u have used i=2.
