I'll be honest, it looks like a PS2 game upscaled to 1080p in PCSX2. Though with these graphics I'd expect it to run at 60 or 50 fps

Also, you are wrong, GTA 4 was a poor port on PC but it was _still_ better than the consoles.
Poor PC ports are superior to their console ports. PC users just have higher standards (in general) meaning you hear about PC port problems more often. JC4 is a great modern example.

@@youaintasbadasyouthink Have you actually played GTA4 on consoles? Yeah the PC port wasn't great, but the console versions ran like at 20-25FPS at sub HD resolutions. The game did not run better for the first 5 years on consoles. It ran like total ass on everything. But running like total ass is the norm on consoles so no one said anything.
That's the case for nearly every bad PC port. Not up to PC standards, but still better than consoles.

Not sure, They sold for millions. that's a direct conversion. pretty reliable.
With Free, they WILL need some sort of microtransaction, meaning no free new maps, no free new game modes, no free customization stuff, powerups (Pay 2 win?) etc.
(Most of the time at least one of those, sometimes all of the mentioned samples are being used for f2p games.)
pro's and cons. but the current paid version did fairly well already. they could keep this up for a little while longer if you look at Steamstats for example. still top spot.

The problem here isn't with hardware, it's just that this game isn't developed well enough to be optimized for most consoles. The PS4/Pro shouldn't be asked to run something so needlessly taxing. That said, if you have a rig that can run this game the way it was designed to run, it's my favorite royale experience and it's not close.

blitzwing1 No hating my first foray with BR was pubg on mobile..and I found it decent.I’m older and I have 4 kids and I just started fortnite at season 7....and I find the game very fun..and pretty addicting...crazy thing is..I have over 300 games physical..between ps1,Ps2,ps3,PsP,Vita,PS4 and about 125 have dlc or cosmetics (between ps3,vita,ps4) I never really purchased cosmetics only mgs5 and titanfall 2. But I already spent more than those games in fortnite and my main device to play is my phone..so now I gotta support my habit and my sons habits on ps4..and now I gotta get 2 battle passes..and store purchases varies on what he wants and what I want etc. oh and I already spent $20 just for me🤫.
PUBG renders at 1440p on PlayStation 4 Pro via the machine's 4K output, so this video has been produced at the higher pixel-count. TH-cam's encoders are still working on the higher end encodes, so check back later for the 4K video file and improved 1080p quality - or watch now.

Royen Ken Doom and Wolfenstein use the id tech engine tomb raider use the crystal engine their own in house tech, other than that only fortnite and gears and also days gone from sony

for me the mobile version has more detail probably because my mobile has 6GB of ram running a custom android. Mobile even runs smoother for me and everything else also the mobile game is free.

Ark has always run like dogshit, regardless of platform. If the Switch port manages to run without crashing or bricking the system I'll be surprised.

Poever I suppose but besides the typical less demanding games like racers, fighters, and shooters... Every other game is typically 30 FPS like the previous generation before. I feel consoles won’t quite break this standard next generation either.

I don't play alot but I still prefer PUBG over Fortnite and Blackout because of the more realistic physics. I hate the jump shooting and stuff in the other games.

MOE I don't know what you're referring to, i've never had that problem. On the other hand i'm not saying it handles perfectly, I just prefer a couple of small sacrifices to ensure people play like actual humans in firefights.

The unathleticness of the characters is laughable. Just trying to climb or jump on something is ridiculous. Treyarch ruined it for me with their perfect parkouring around the map.

The reason console players continue to play PUBG (massive playerbase) is because when you win, the feeling of winning is better than in most games. 30fps is shitty but the mechanics in the game make up for the game being rough around the edges. That being said, playing on an Xbox One X with SSD is a very enjoyable experience. If the guys testing this game were better at gaming, im sure they would have enjoyed it too. I’m optimistic for 60fps. Blackout looks pretty but it is so n00b friendly & lacks the realistic shooter feel of PUBG. Believe it or not, the slower pace and some of the realistic mechanics really appeal to some gamers 👍🏻 anyway, good analysis DF

Whoever did PUBG Mobile should’ve ported that to consoles.
The reason why base consoles might have lesser textures might not be related to vram, rather GPU power. Higher detailed textures don't just require more vram, also processing power.
The difference between the higher quality textures and lower ones, was maybe high enough to justify using lower ones so they could boost visuals in another area.
Not that this comment is to any use of you since you don't bother reading comments.
The PS4 pro does have a little more memory and bandwidth than the base ps4, but it is very minimal...still, it's cool to see they got higher res textures got on there.

They aren't though. It's not the same style of BR as Blackout and fortnite. It's harder, way harder. It takes hours to master the recoil where as fortnite its just aim shoot, same with cod, both are low skill. Pubg is miles ahead in terms of the skill gap.

I agree but both fortnite and Blackout are made by triple A devs who have a track record of great games. Pubg corp do not. That makes a HUGE difference.

I have this game on Xbox One X and OG PS4 - looks so much better on the X BUT it’s plays so much better on the PS4. On the Xbox it has weird controller lag - only small but noticeable.

Regarding the "missing" shadows: PUBG features various weather settings. And apparently when you get the "overcast" weather, dynamic realtime shadows are not rendered to... emulate this. And regarding the "detached" shadows.. These result from the super low shadow resolution for dynamic shadows.
There's so many more options than this unfinished smut of a game!

Not really as the pro came out 12 months before the OneX and also was $100/£100 cheaper than the OneX. Plus the Pro is more suited to 1440p-1800p checkerboard renderings. And in some cases (not many) native 4K.
They really need to bring back level 3 helmets to the houses and not just the drops.

ZuEssenWas but devs can only use 5.5 GBs on pro vs 5 gb on base PS4. So technically that’s only 500mb more on pro, so they are correct. Unless Pubg devs have got more access to more ram instead of the usual 500mb.
Plus 500mb of that additional ddr3 memory in pro is used for apps not games unfortunately.
Would’ve made more sense of Sony made that additional 1gb ram ddr5 instead and made it accessible to the devs for games.

1GB for the OS is ridiculous! The PS3's xmb used under 100 KB at all times, and was more capable than the PS4s! Even on windows, the OS never takes more than 100 - 200MB

My only guess for the texture quality imparitiy is that the devs offloaded the texture streaming system on a single core and the lower cpu clocks of the base units create some issues with the medium-ish sized textures.

I have my switch for portability and Nintendo games, and i use my x for AAA games that wouldn't run as well on my PC which is still my primary platform for gaming, and the only place I play online.

So in order to play this and look good is to have a PS4 Pro which runs at 1440p and have a 1080p set, to get the best image quality.I assume it will be having less jaggies overall cause of the downsampling.
