That's a nice feature. I have a 2017. I haven't paid too much attention to see if it is wired up or if it has an external switch. I've noticed that there are a lot of things that are wired already but just need to install the hardware and turn on with alphaobd.
The reason why you had to change hardware to retain the lights, is because you installed the retainers incorrectly. Retainers go through lamp assembly, then into the bedside. Not into the bedside first.
i use OBDLink 426101 ScanTool MX. im not sure if the MX is still available but some of the newer versions should work as well. lots of AlfaOBD pages on line can get info on. yes i used a bypass cable since my truck is a 2018. 2018+ requires the bypass
I just purchased a 2022 ram 2500 Laramie and I want to install cargo lights. Do I have to add the switch ? And what app are you using to connect the new led cargo lights to the truck. Thanks
i am using alfa obd. you will need the app and obd adapter and also a security bypass cable. the lights should function with out the switch but its nice to have it in the bed.

What OBD tool did you use? Did you need a bypass to connect the obd?

Great video if you want to scope out the forest for deer or something, never showed much of installing the lights.

Where in the world at the blanked off wires??
mine were pretty much directly under where the switch goes. not all truck have the wires from factory. that's why the kit comes with the wires
