Btw if you are a midfielder, you don't have to always be in the midfield and pass to the other forward. If an opportunity arises you can try and make your own play to score. Omega striker is a very dynamic game, use your own judgement on what should be the best choice.

Your guides with general tips have helped a lot when thinking about my performance and how to improve at the game, but I still struggle when trying to look for specifics on why a Striker is good at a specific role, or how you go about analyzing them. For video ideas something that large probably wouldn't work, but I'd appreciate a video showcasing the roles and which Strikes would work well there
Well done! I always wondered what people meant by midfielders in this game. If improving positioning can go beyond playing better, winning more, I'd love a video with tips!
I'm a flex player who has notably different capability between roles, with forward in my case being distinctly worse. I prefer to play as a midfielder when I'm not put as goalie but unfortunately your teammate forward doesn't always have a playstyle or character that compliments your own and I'm VERY BAD at scoring. I'm sorry to my goalies that have to deal with me, I completely understand the feeling lol. Maybe a video going over angles of approach for scoring in general or against common goalies/certain maps? Of course there's a lot of nuance but there's some fundamentals that can be universal.
Yeah, this guide was made for what you need below gold. I'll start getting into more advanced stuff like how to approach the goal and stuff like that in a later video! But of course, for now I need to make a video on the new strikers *sigh*
I asked my friend when I started playing only having a couple hours why there wasn't a choice to que as midfield. Seems fairly obvious both forwards wouldn't be trying to do the same thing at the same time. I main Estelle and my favorite thing to do be mega aggressive with ball control and always look to stuff the core with layered projectiles.
Theres one thing not mentioned here or in any other forward video I can find that I think if vitally important. Figuring out what to prioritize as forward in that specific match. There are games I've had where I'm playing "normally" and we are just getting smoked and I make the executive decision to just use all of my cooldowns, on cooldown, on a troublesome enemy player. I'm lowering my ability to effectively score, but shutting down an enemy player or even just heavily increasing the pressure on them, and it can completely reverse the tide of the game. As a forward, ESPECIALLY as a solo queue forward, your ability to win the game is going to often times come down to your ability to figure out what your team needs in order to win this specific match. Sometimes they need you to stay on the enemy side of the map and be open, sometimes that is worthless and you will just never get the core that way as your team loses the 2v2 over and over. Sometimes you need to keep your cooldowns up for a combo to scare enemies away from playing on the edge and sometimes you need to not do that. Sometimes if you get broken you should stay in the action, sometimes you should bait enemy players to a useless corner, and sometimes you should retreat to your own corner. OH ALSO, this should be in every guide, but you cannot be killed on the corners. So many people don't know that. I'd say theres a few basic defensive formations/strategies that forwards use. The most basic is probably the "long" formation. Your forward will be in line with your midfielder vertically but about a pass distance away horizontally. The midfielder will be a pass distance away from the goalie. This lets the goalie clear to the midfielder that can pass up to the forward. It's the ideal default formation, if the game doesn't require anything specific and can result in a lot of 1v1s against their goalie. If "long" isn't working theres the "L" formation. This has the goalie and one forward fairly near each other, and the other forward on the opposite vertical side. This gives the goalie the option to clear around the attackers or up/down to their teammate. It's a more defensive formation designed to shut down a strong midfield+forward combination by giving the goalie the most clearing options and some help in the 2v2 while also covering both sides of the goal. The weakness is that even after you defend, you usually can't transition straight to a strong offense because nobody is open down the field. You probably don't want to play the whole game like this, but it's something you might need to adopt for a good portion of the game. "L" has another weakness though, and thats when both enemy forwards get inside the "L" lines. They attack one from head on and one from the side blocking both clearing angles. As a forward, this is the best position to attack with most of the time. A 2v1 where enemies have a hard time harassing you without hitting the core into their own goal and the goalie has trouble clearing. As such, on defense, you need to stop them from getting this set up, probably hitting them with abilities or just getting the core before they can have that setup in the first place. If you can't do that, then you basically need to be on top of them and then it's a bit of a clusterf*ck. Not ideal, but the best damage control at that point. There is one final defensive strategy though, and it's marking. You just plant yourself on top of a specific enemy the entire time. Every time they touch the core, it's a strike war with you. They can't dribble and they have difficulty passing or shooting. If you have better mobility than them (typically a haste) or can deal a lot of damage to them, this strategy can really shut some people down. Just make sure you don't tunnel so hard on hitting them that you forget about the core. At least, these are the formations I've seen typically show up in my games and when watching high elo matches and switching from one that isn't working to one that is has turned around a lot of my games, especially matches where I have a weak goalie.
8:50 This... a hundred thousand times this. If there's an Era or Estelle just sitting in my face all day, and yet even when I do manage to juke them and get the puck out of the goal... only for it to just slide right back in because it went past the forwards again? Please just come...punch them a little. With me. I'll help. We can probably instantly kill them. Please don't spam emotes on me when I am clearly getting bullied.
As a suggestion: Maybe you could do individual character guides? The VODs that other content creators make can be useful as reference, but don't tend to go super indepth beyond only telling through showing. That said, this would be a ton of effort, so up to you. If you do end up going through with it, I'd love to help out with any work you do on era (and potentially octavia!) In the future.

If Asher is banned I go Juli and go pummelers. Great video and every informative and so far I was already doing what you said! Love the video, def know some people need to understand that I am the goalie, leave me alone and GIVE ME SOMEONE TO PASS TO. Although small correction, Stuffing isnt always hitting the goalie at the same time as the core, it is really You hitting the core right after the opponent, so that there strike/Ability is on cooldown, not allowing them to hit it back since well, its on cooldown
That scenario is more commonly called a "strike war" by the community. Stuffing sort of implies bypassing that aspect by using some sort of ability combo to shove the core directly through an opponent with little potential counterplay on their part. Very similar concepts though

So, everything I've mentioned in the last three videos is everything I think you need in order to get to gold for the most part. I'm going to go a little bit more in depth on specific mechanics, and maybe even make striker specific videos!
I liked the gear section a lot, in that it's vindicating to hear that it really IS just preference and in that you personally like magnetized soles on two different maps for opposite reasons. 😂 When I first started playing I thought taking slick kicks was a no-brainer, but now I can't live without my soles since the proc is so consistent. However, I've started to suspect that they've become a crutch holding up my poor positioning...
If its allowing you to get away with poor positioning and still be effective it is more of an advantage and less a crutch, although learning better positioning would enhance the usefulness of the item more for you
The #1 thing I would recommend to new players playing forward is to pick one forward gear and stick with that forward gear regardless of character. My opinion of forward gear is that they're more dependent on your individual playstyle rather than your character's playstyle and all the gear is useful for either leveraging a character's strengths or compensating for their weaknesses. Using the same gear every game reduces the choices you have to make while learning and provides game-to-game familiarity that helps build muscle memory for basic gameplay elements, both of which make it easier to learn.
Amazing video, Hopefully I'll have more forwards punch X away from me as I'm screaming for my life. Can't wait to see more content, do you have any thoughts on making individual character breakdowns?
I have thought about it! I just feel about when I think how I won't be able to have the same quality for each striker, since I don't play all of them a ton...
i'm a decent misfield, i can make my foward partner some good passes and good opportunities to score, however, i need to know. how the hell do i get levells? like, i'm always try to spread out so I can receive the pass from either goalie or foward, and then pass or setup a scoring scenario for them. HOWEVER, that makes it so i'm not the one ping-ponging the ball to the enemy and back and racking up the xp,assists to goals don't seem to give much either (or at all) and i always find myself on the awkward situation where i just run after orbs and pray that i'lll level 2 before the end of set 1. i need to know? how do i balance being near the ball to rack up the xp and spreading out to create passing scenarios. i can't stand being the last one to draft anymore, even tho we eventually get some amazing plays some times.
That's a tough one. Typically higher level games will have enough movement with the core that the level distribution will be fairly even if no KOs happened. If you are really hurting for EXP, try dribbling some more before passing perhaps? Or being more aggressive in the first set.
For a future topic, can you perhaps touch on GAMEPAD vs MKB controls? I think I'm one of the few PC players who prefer gamepad over MKB and I'd like to hear your thoughts on that too.
Unfortunately, I've only used MKB up to now, so I can't really give an objective viewpoint on it. I think most people usually only use one or the other, so it's tough for anyone to really compare them... I could start using a gamepad, but it would take a LONG time to get to the same proficiency.
@@jayritter2901 right now i feel like she has a aimi kind of play style. I would only play her as goalie if you're sure the enemy team isnt going to target and kill you since you are very weak.
I believe almost every rookie mistake in Omega Strikers comes from the same place: You need to have a little faith in your teammates, and I know that's really hard in a matchmade game when there's a possibility that one of your teammates is just someone's overly enthusiastic golden retriever rolling around on their keyboard while the player is in the bathroom. Why are your teammates in your goal? Because they don't trust you to be able to defend. Why is your goalie in the midfield? Because they don't trust you to be able to score. Why was the topside of the goal wide open? Because the Goalie was covering ground that their midfielder was already covering. Why is everyone dogpiling the core instead of being in position to receive it? Because nobody trusts anyone on their team to take control of the core. You need to take advantages of the opportunities your teammates present to you, and in turn create opportunities for your teammates. Stop trying to play every role all at once: It's much easier to make good plays when you can focus on a small number of objectives rather than trying to absorb the complete game state all the time.
2:20 When people are saying folk are standing around and not participating in offensive pressure. That's not it. What you showed is being patient and making the right strike. (which is good, it's always better to have the best angle) What people are encountering are folk who literally stand around and make no moves whatsoever or pass to their forward.
Annoying! Rune kinda fits anywhere. His biggest thing right now in my opinion is his banish combo that insta kills anyone, so wherever you can be to do that more often is good!
@@oober567 With Rune, you can use your special to banish someone, then place your primary pillar on top of them, and your secondary pillar on top of them. If you position the pillars right, as soon as the banish from your special wears off, they will immediately stagger and fly off the screen.
Im wondering about this Estelle hate. Im always trying to be forward and double hit the goalie for free goals. Are Estelles really playing that far back?
I don't see too many Estelle's in my lobby, you'll have to take that up with Elanator! Although I will say there does seem to be a sentiment with goalies that Estelle mains seem to be the most often to try to double goalie.
This is a weird angle for me since i play estelle goalie and i know how it feels to have my midfielder second goalie by playing pass with the enemy's foward.
I know estelle's hot, but have you considered, Kai goalie? He's kinda just, better as a goalie. And I feel you'll find barrage as a great way to force people to stop playing pass. Also he's pretty hot to imo.
Its worth adding that just because you're the "midfielder" doesnt mean you should sit in the middle of the map 24/7. Several times now i've been playing asher or juliette as forward, im trying to stuff the core in to the goal or find a good angle and the enemy team is all over me, meanwhile my midfielder is just sitting back expecting a pass...On Night market...that has gigantic barriers in the middle of the map that stop any kind of pass i might want to make. Fucking move up, help me stuff the core.
I always get two goalies that don't even goalie I play forward and always have to go back and play the goalie lol (I'm not trying to sound mean by the way)
as a flex estelle enjoyer i feel like im being told to get play goalie in my defense i started played like a day ago and my goalie hasnt figured out how to lmb yet
I'm a Goalie main player and I recently tried to play as a forward. But everytime I do this, the random goalie's in my team got the reflexes of their dead grandma.
Good to know I'm not the only one tired of Estelle trying to be a second goalie
Finally I have found where I belong⚰

Why is everyone dogpiling the core instead of being in position to receive it? Because nobody trusts anyone on their team to take control of the core.
You need to take advantages of the opportunities your teammates present to you, and in turn create opportunities for your teammates. Stop trying to play every role all at once: It's much easier to make good plays when you can focus on a small number of objectives rather than trying to absorb the complete game state all the time.
Great video, just already out of date with gear amusingly.
See what you have is a mid fielder and a forward all I get every game are goalie homies so fun
What about juno tho

When people are saying folk are standing around and not participating in offensive pressure.
That's not it. What you showed is being patient and making the right strike. (which is good, it's always better to have the best angle) What people are encountering are folk who literally stand around and make no moves whatsoever or pass to their forward.
Of course those things happen as well. But I've seen people streaming on discord and complain about an era dribbling when there are no good plays.
@@aerialsnack Oh, in that case it's completely justifiable my mistake. :) I like your videos btw keep up the good work 💙
What role would you classify Rune as?
Annoying! Rune kinda fits anywhere. His biggest thing right now in my opinion is his banish combo that insta kills anyone, so wherever you can be to do that more often is good!
@@aerialsnack Not to sound dumb as I just started playing a few days ago what is his insta-kill combo
@@oober567 With Rune, you can use your special to banish someone, then place your primary pillar on top of them, and your secondary pillar on top of them. If you position the pillars right, as soon as the banish from your special wears off, they will immediately stagger and fly off the screen.
@@aerialsnack thanks for the info!!!
Where are my Juno mains at
Im wondering about this Estelle hate.
Has anyone told you how your voice sounds a lot like CoreA Gaming?
I haven't heard of them before, I'll have to check them out!
@@aerialsnack He makes Fighting game video essays. With a relatively same format you make. Highly recommend him.
me, a goalie player learning to play forward to complete my weekly missions
This is a weird angle for me since i play estelle goalie and i know how it feels to have my midfielder second goalie by playing pass with the enemy's foward.
I know estelle's hot, but have you considered, Kai goalie? He's kinda just, better as a goalie. And I feel you'll find barrage as a great way to force people to stop playing pass. Also he's pretty hot to imo.
Are you implying Kai isn't hot?
@@aerialsnack he is the most hot, and also on fire
Its worth adding that just because you're the "midfielder" doesnt mean you should sit in the middle of the map 24/7. Several times now i've been playing asher or juliette as forward, im trying to stuff the core in to the goal or find a good angle and the enemy team is all over me, meanwhile my midfielder is just sitting back expecting a pass...On Night market...that has gigantic barriers in the middle of the map that stop any kind of pass i might want to make. Fucking move up, help me stuff the core.
Yep! I do mention this towards the end, that you have to be flexible in your play no matter your position!
I always get two goalies that don't even goalie I play forward and always have to go back and play the goalie lol (I'm not trying to sound mean by the way)
Man it would be great to be a forward IF I WASN'T GOALIE
as a flex estelle enjoyer i feel like im being told to get play goalie
in my defense i started played like a day ago and my goalie hasnt figured out how to lmb yet
funny spongebob meme😊

not the basement
9:26 lmao
This game is hard. I can't seemt o do things right
I feel that
Ok cursed I know but..... forward Dubu tho.
Paid coaching when
When I'm safely in the top 500 for NA for the Pro Invitational that's coming up haha
you really don't like estelle huh
Elanator has had bad experiences with estelle mains when playing goalie it seems hahaha
You should’ve made this a lil later lol out dated within an hour
T_T
I guess I need to stop playing Kai forward
I'm a Goalie main player and I recently tried to play as a forward. But everytime I do this, the random goalie's in my team got the reflexes of their dead grandma.
Thanks man
:D
