    Your whip is in great shape. That was my first sled. Same color. Topped out at 50 mph. Lots of good memories

    Had one I bought as a bunch of boxes of parts! Rebuilt/restored it...and sold it before I even got to ride it! Mine was a maroon color...Cyuna engine.
    Theres no mountains in Crosby Mn. Where they were built! ....I live here!

    Had an 80 440 Whip. Pretty fast machine.

    Mine also had a duct for outlet of the cooling air....otherwise it just stays under the unvented hood!

    Pumper/floater Walbro carbs rarely work ed properly very long. Put a properly jetted Mikuni on it!

    Grew up driving one like this. Brakes definitely sucked. Lots of good memories though. Love blue sparkle to this day hehe

    Many years ago, my brother had the 340 variant of this machine. Theoretically, the air intake on the fan duct was supposed to give the carb a little "extra" air pressure or "boost". Whether or nor that actually worked is still up for debate. Great trail machine though. It was pretty fast for what it was. We had a lot of fun with it.

      It was actually mostly for drawing cool air into the axial fan to cross the heads to cool the PTO side, which typically runs warmer on a fanner. . It wasn't really intended to give the carb an extra boost of air.

    I have a '75 super stinger red metal flake same 400cc engine. Great sleds. Your brake pad is on backwards.

      Thanks for noticing that, I never would have. I’ll have to take a look at it next time it’s in the shop

    How do you remove the gas tank?

    • @twocylinderwill
      @twocylinderwill ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to remove the plastic dash that covers it, and then unbolt the strap that holds it in place. Mine was nasty with rust and sludge in the bottom

      You are correct, I got that wrong in the video. However They didn’t take over full production in Thief River Falls until 1980

      Never heard of AC buying out Scorpion....unless it was some of thier technology when they went out of business. I was s snowmobile service technician from 1968-2010 here in Minnesota..10 yrs. with Skidoo in Montana.
