Viola Davis is more than amazing, what a force of nature! I love what she says, how she acts, how beautiful and funny and talented she is. I love her smile, suits and sneakers... I love her. ❤
These ladies were incredible. I can honestly say I've never seen Michelle Rodriguez in a movie where she isn't playing a masculine character. She always plays the tough character and here she really is allowed to be soft and feminine...and a MOTHER. She did great
This was actually really insightful. Felt very revealing and honest without coming off as staged. Hats off to everybody involved, including the excellent interviewer.
Steve McQueen, I love you so much man. Shame was brutal, 12 Years A Slave was raw and memorable and now you've successfully pulled off a commercial movie without sacrificing your artistic style.
I am SO excited to see this movie, of course, due to the Queen, Viola. Love her beyond words! Also, I just wanted to comment on Michelle... She is such a phenomenal actress that I have wished for years to see her play a different type of character; I'm really glad to find out that wishes do indeed come true. I can't wait to see her & everyone else as well as to view my first Steve McQueen movie!!!
I'm watching this for the second time (because I was sharing it was some friends), and I have to say, this is such an inspiring statement for women, and for men actually. These conversations truly are 'really rich' . Thank you for the insight and acuity of the interview too. Of course, I loved the film, it was massively entertaining. I loved the performances of all the cast, of course the ladies, but also particularly Brian Tyree Henry and Daniel Kaluuya too.
Actually, the trailer gave the impression that the movie would move at a faster pace but it dragged so much I felt they didn't get a professional to edit this movie!
Long live Lynda La Plante!!!! ❤💖❤💖❤ This adaptation looks pretty damn awesome! (....) Thank you for Michelle Rodriguez for being so honest. I felt everything she said re her femininity!
Should have known that when she could not get her hands on those law students during the winter break, Annalise's itchy hands would be meddling with other demographs.
Mr Interviewer, 3.54 🤔errr!!! Not all television programmes or series originate the from the BBC. I watched the original Widows series just like Mr McQueen. It’s actually an ITV series, which I loved, it was a very gritty, hardcore, underworld crime drama. In the 1980’s ITV a UK television channel, showed a lot of alternative scripted drama, and so did Channel 4, something unlikely to be seen on the BBC at the time. It’s great though to see Widows being interpreted in the noughties 👏👏👏👏
ThIS MOVIE WAS SO GRIPPING!!!!! Its like a action melodrama mystery kinda movie :)) bt i felt uncomfortable watching Liam and Viola french kiss lol it was weird
I can't imagine why you would be. It's too "important" and "deep" for you. Not nearly "entertaining" enough...because that is the sole reason for cinema to exist, right?! Unbelievable. :(
Spoilers Alert. Okay here are some things I am confused about. The girl who drove the van, she didn't lose a husband in the heist, she was just from the babysitting service that the dress shop owner called. Then she got into the group when the chauffeur was murdered because she seemed like a nice reliable person. She was as street kind of person from the projects so she would do it. Then at the end, they are all spending their money on whatever, but did they ever pay Manning his 2 million? They didn't show that. I just saw the ghetto lady in an SUV with her kids leaving money for her boss, the Polish lady just hanging out with her friend and not needing the bossy black lady, the black lady giving money to a library in her son's name and wishing she could still be friends with the Polish lady after all, and then the dress shop lady got her shop back. That is how it looked like it ended for me, but what about Manning? I thought it was all about paying him his money so they wouldn't get killed. Was he supposed to be so impressed that they pulled this off and killed off his henchman that he left them alone? How did the politician get the money anyway? Did he split it with the husband of the black lady? This movie is complicated and makes you keep thinking. You only figure out what exactly is going on bit by bit. It looks really realistic though. I am amazed how Steve McQueen captures American stories so well.
I caught this as well and had to look up if both pronunciations are correct and it seems that's the case. I've had moments with friends where they've mispronounced a word for most of their life (like character with a cha-cha as opposed to with a K) and it's a bit awkward to put them on the spot, never mind doing it in front of cameras. I've never used nitch personally, always neesh, but it seems that nitch is also in common use.
He didn’t understand the question bc of the pronunciation. Also it wasn’t used correctly in what she was trying to ask in my opinion. She was trying to say her STYLE, more so than anything.
Can they ask legit questions?...like these questions are for church and motivational speakers(yes viola is very motivating, but ask something like, " Steve, since you dont focus on coverage, which lenses do you prefer?, or ask the panel, "as a female led film, were there any film roles from the past you considered ground breaking for women"? ....like come on. Lolz
theplourde most filmmakers do. There’s a belief they have that what their purpose is to change the world, not entertain people. (And I have a cinema degree. 😂)
@@Nazaba09 I hate to break it to you, girl, but not *everything* is about curing cancer. I'm not saying that wouldn't be great and wonderful, but I have absolutely *no* desire to accomplish that in my life because I am interested in the arts (film, music, etc.) and not medicine. BTW, you do realize that *you* come across as incredibly demeaning and pretentious yourself when you say something like that, right? Film has 100% changed lives and the way people have been able to see the world and stand up for themselves. Sorry you don't want to or can't see that.
be quiet she was asked question and she gave her response. Just because you cant relate to her experience or don't get it doesn't mean she being preachy.
@@8evebro What world are your talking about, exactly ? I mean, where ? America, I guess ? And what do you see, in that world ? I'm not fucking with you, I'm just curious.

This was one of the most inspirational 47 minutes of my life..
This was actually really insightful. Felt very revealing and honest without coming off as staged. Hats off to everybody involved, including the excellent interviewer.
Blue Calm Productions I totally agree!
They went deep!!
Ricky Camilleri is a great host by the way. Good interviewers are rare somehow, so that's important.
I thought the same thing. He asks great questions!
Wow, this was like a TED Talk. Learned a lot, especially from these inspiring women.
Viola has the most brilliant advice for aspiring actors at 31:02 🔥
Brilliant answer from Viola!
This was incredibly inspiring. The film was terrific, the performances were all solid. Cannot wait to see what Steve McQueen does next
Steve McQueen, I love you so much man. Shame was brutal, 12 Years A Slave was raw and memorable and now you've successfully pulled off a commercial movie without sacrificing your artistic style.
Really excited to see this, Steve McQueen and Gillian Flynn do such great character driven dramas
“That courage that you want to be a part of!”
Yes Viola!!
I totally relate!!!
47 minutes but felt like 10
You're right it did feel like 10.

I don't think I realised the depth to Michelle Rodriguez before. Great film, wonderful cast, gem of a director
This is one of the best of these chats.
The honesty that Steve requires/demands made the movie! “Leave it on the floor!!”
Best movie of the year! So underrated by some people...

Great movie and we Chicagoans really appreciate seeing our city and the politics being played out
I have to say that I didn't see how physically beautiful Viola Davis is until her characters were their physically natural selves.
Viola Davis is EPIC!
natedoggg2002 truth!
Yes and amen!!
Elizabeth was so good!
elizabeth looks like a classic british painting. beautiful
film was brilliant & even better than the trailer, rare these days lol
lol true

Ikr my butt was clenching so hard during certain scenes and damn, Daniel Kaluuya was extremely convincing as a bad guy. I hated his character lmaooo
Angela Carleton gotta agree with this though, it was like 70% melodrama 30% action??? Wish the actual heist was longer
Viola Davis is a beast in good way! Very intellectual and well informed
Awesome job in the interview. Interesting topics
Pisses me off how overlooked this movie was in 2018.
9:40-10:45 soooooo relatable!!
Long live Lynda La Plante!!!! ❤💖❤💖❤ This adaptation looks pretty damn awesome! (....) Thank you for Michelle Rodriguez for being so honest. I felt everything she said re her femininity!
Viola is so stunningly beautiful.
BUILD is incredible

Darin Michael Grant I really don’t know what’s up Your ass but it’s time to pull it out thanks. Also WTF are you talking about?
good movie, WIDOWS; Let's go out and support. This movie should have moved past the Grinch...for sure... I will go again
Yes!
damn i love michelle
Ricky - it was an ITV series, not BBC. Research, dear boy!
27:10 i want that shirt

The "black lady" her name is "Viola Davis"
Babu I’ve been wondering if Manning got his money!
Niche is pronounced "Neesh", not "nitch" FFS!

McQueen comes off as incredibly pretentious. Always has with his films.
theplourde most filmmakers do. There’s a belief they have that what their purpose is to change the world, not entertain people. (And I have a cinema degree. 😂)
he does, but backs it up with good films
PurelyAfrican I’m an artist, I’m not pretentious. Robin Williams was an artist, he wasn’t pretentious. You make movies, not cure cancer.
bitch please

Widows was a terrible movie. Very poorly written.
Okay I hope the movie isn't as preachy as Viola Davis.
be quiet she was asked question and she gave her response. Just because you cant relate to her experience or don't get it doesn't mean she being preachy.

Because she speaks about reality. Take a look at the world.
