I love my explorer. If you want to as analog as possible, turn up Analog feel, random phase. Just choose the first 4 wave shapes, being that those are the square, sine, saw, and triangle. Throw a 24db ladder filter and some eq, and you have those analogy sounds synth people love so much
It does have a sequencer, sort of. You can use the custom LFOs to create steps with exact levels at each step, and you can apply those to pitch and amp to create sequences.
I had download the manual in visual file form and attempted to read it. I enjoy having the hard copy that came with my Explorer. I’ve only had mine for a week and already created a bunch of sounds that I like. One thing that continues to evade me is how to properly assign the polyphonic aftertouch to my own patches.
I just ordered one. I hope it gets here before the long holiday next week. (Chinese holiday. I don't even know what it's about, just that I have 3 days off)
I love the hydrasynth every time i hear it and use one. I really want them to make a version with the controls set at an angle, the ergonomics are a bit strange on it.
6:45 I am curious, is it at all possible to record your own custom arpeggio phrases on this synth? I have heard that something can be done with using an lfo to modulate a phrase but that seems a bit too complicated for me and I was hoping there would be an easier way to make at least some basic patterns to mess around with while tinkering with other stuff on this thing.
How does this review feel so retro right now? I'm only joking hydra lovers... It's just that it seems the Synth Hivemind's attention span has pretended it's not an amazing synth after all this time! Epic vid Ally thank you for not doing modular today :)
I'm intrigued to know what the gadget on the left is. The hydrasynth only seems to have power and audio out connected, so I can't see it being controlled externally.
Never before have I wanted to like a synth as much as I wanted to like the Hydrasynth but every single demo I've heard has this anaemic and bland sound. I love digital synths by the way, I am not expecting or even wanting this to sound "analog". Oh well.
two channels on here i saw demonstrating the hydrasynth in a way in which i'd use it are blush response and catenation. there's almost always this strange pattern of trying to look up and see what a digital synth is capable of and either a) people trying to make it sound analog, warm, "lush", "ambient" or b) viewed from a composer/player perspective more than sound design, which is what i mostly think digital synthesis is good for.

One of the few musical demos of this synth. Nice work!
THIS WAS BRILLIANT.....ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS SOUNDS.......I LOVED IT !
Don't forget to hydrate your Hydrasynth. Most people don't know this. A pitcher of water each week should do the trick!

i keep mine in the bath tub
I had to rehydrate mine, it was really shriveled after a while!

beautiful review... Thanks
Glad you liked it!
Glad i found ye, just gettin around to ‘really learning’ the hydrasynth…enjoy the sounds here, the table..great grain, and your voice…
Like the patches. A demo of all 50 in the library you have would be great!
Yesss, love a Hydrasynth! Not a sequencer exactly, but the Step LFO shapes give you up to 64 steps of cv of your choosing
Terrific video
Nice patches. I want one!
wouhouuuu

I think you can choose that as a modulation source in the mod matrix :)
Thanks, @@TheUnperson. I am working on figuring out how to access/apply those functions.

Your patches sound really really good, as happens to patches you make on any synth. How do you like the Explorer when compared to the Minifreak?

I found the Hydra very intuitive and not looked at the manual so far. Maybe i should.

Other wavetable keyboard I would your review: Korg Modwave, Roland Gaia2. Thank you for the Pittsburgh Tiaga synth review
You cant load your own wavetables to hydrasynth?
Binary Code 😃👨💻
Is the TE sequencing this I assume? great movements.
Hey Ali now that you had a chance to use hydrasynth you said you would tell me what you preferred. Minifreak or hydra?
Stop it!! I'm weak willed and I've still got some credit left on my card.. ! Seriously though, great video mate.😊

That’s a Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II
Sounds great, but nowhere near as much fun as twiddling about with individual modules (in my opinion)😊
we're live ho

Don't make me buy another synth....
