I know its sad. We have a No Hire felon rule here at my company. Also no domestic abuse . Our policy is extremely strict due to government contracts. We have found that when we get a new employee with a perfect background they tend to stay long term. Also we offer benefits unheard off in todays market place. We pay what the insurance doesnt cover that in its self makes for more dedicated especially female employees.
My husband is a felon and has NEVER had an issue finding work. Ya he usually gets stuck with hard labor jobs but he's still never had any problems finding work.
Being a felon is not the problem entirely. You have to seek employment within the small business category. Your confidence in yourself and your ability to be profitable to a small business must be conveyed to that business owner. Great attitudes and excitement to perform the job wins job searches.

They put it on every application with a warning that if any information is found to be false it is illegal- which will scare the people who are trying to abide by the law and never go back to jail the most. I started from the bottom coming home literally the bottom, jumped through hoops to get my important documents to line my self up for a decent job & still nothing. I was 19 when I caught my charge went to prison did my time & now I am now 28 with children I feel your pain the see us knocking these walls back & still yet they build another one up for us to fail.

I checked North Carolina and that company has lots of locations in North Carolina you should check them out. It couldn't hurt. Apply at oak park place they are all over and u don’t need experience. It’s caregiving CBRF, you can get ur certification through the company. I live in Wisconsin and they hire all background’s.

Don't give up, move from your current location, Arizona doesn't let employers ask for more than 7 years back, I spent over 4 years in prison in the 80s and you can bet that AZ can be very nice to you!! Think about it
Try McDonalds/Burger King, I know those jobs are at the first step of most careers in America but your chances of getting hired are probably like 70-80% at those places, plus you get a free meal a day and I think 3 paid sick days a year, or whatever the law is in your state

I went to school for two years and got myself together, they say yes we hire felons, school told me they could get me placed but i was violent in 2008 convicted in 2009, just like you, thank God i have veterans benefits, i lost my mind, i graduated at top of my class also
Look for temporary employment services in your area. Here in Pa most companies only ask for your criminal history dating back 7yrs or newer. You can also try calling those fastfood places and ask the manager directly if they're hiring and if they say yes then explain you have an app on file. Maybe try gig work like Walmart spark, Instacart, doordash, etc. If all else fails then move here to York Pennsylvania. Im a felon and there's plenty of work.
Your Conviction has to relate to what you will be doing. If you have a Felony fraud conviction then they can deny you for a position that involves having personal information or access to financial information but not if you apply to work in a restaurant I would suggest that you stop asking if they hire "Felons" and once you get hired then you have to allow you to explain the circumstances behind your conviction, the time that has passed and what you have done afterwards.
When I came to work in North Dakota oil field they would hire anyone several of the guys I worked with were felons and that is why they came that was in 2012 They just needed people here and no one would come. Now I'm not so sure because I haven't shopped for jobs but they are always needing people and the pay well but the cost of living could be rough in the winter its cold here. Try the oil field.
I thought employers stopped asking about criminal offenses after so many years. If you've stayed out of trouble for at least 7 years it shouldn't count against you, IMHO. I would consider contacting the governors office in the state where the offense took place and tell them your plight. They might give you a pardon or clemency or whatever they call it.

I am sorry, can understand, a friend was busted for having pot in the 1960's and had trouble all his life to get employment he became self employed being a handy man, my uncle did time in the Big House in San Fransisco and he had to be self employed, I myself have a clean record but a senior and have trouble trying to find employment because of my age, I'm in my late 60's.

You can’t door dash? I have 7 felonies and 17 arrests and they let me do it now.

Some states have a limit on how far back an employer can look when it comes to convictions. You might be over sharing if it has been over ten years.
