    I love the grim world of Conan, and just the though it might have ”real” under the mists of ancient past, a lost world truly..I’m glad I have the full Chronicles of Conan by Robert E Howard, aswell as audiobooks, still curious to know if there’s even more lore material out there

      Archeology isn't fully reliable though, because we haven't discovered everything yet. Many other aspects of our past are unrecoverable, buried under methane gas pockets and thousands of years of impacted sediment, or destroyed completely.

    It is important to remember that the Conan universe was envisioned by Robert E Howard as Pre-Flood Earth, or in other words, it is his version of what the world was like before the Younger Dryas.
    Every year we have more and more evidence to suggest that the post flood civilizations like Sumer are not the first civilizations. For example, the Great Sphinx has been dated by geologists as being far older than "Old Kingdom" Egypt. You can easily deny this evidence today, just know that throughout all of history, there has always been a status quo, and it is almost always proven to be incorrect. So keep in mind that siding with the academic establishment (in the case of archaeology, a very corrupt establishment) is literally the position of those who are unable to form their own thoughts. For example, in Egyptology, the leading experts try to deny things that have DNA evidence behind it, just to avoid admitting that their old established theories from half a century ago are wrong.
    So don't think of Conan as simply a fictional fantasy world, but a theory of pre-flood civilization that is fictionalized to tell stories.
    Edit: Despite their being mention of modern dating in the video, Robert E. Howard used no such methods of dating. Any dates that you find will come from the massive fan following around his books, and also the non-canon authors that took up the reigns after Howard died. There is great controversy in the Conan Fandom about what is and isn't canon. If you think Star Trek fans argue a lot, you should look into the Conan Fandom.

      @Aspienoob he was emphasizing that Robert’s work were depiction of theories or speculation from the history. Relax

    Bori= norse myth, Odin's father
    Also I cant help but notice The similarity to the Hyperboreans , a mythical race in Hollow earth theory.

      Hyboreans are weird because they represent the Aryans (as in Indoeuropeans, not actual Iranian Aryans) in the myths that 1930's earth we belived were actual history. They came from Proto-Russia, conquered everything in their wake because they were able to create the best forts, castles and cities, and slowly mixed with the people's they conquered in one way or another. In Conan's case they got destroyed and conquered by one of their own tribes led basically Baba Yaga with a different name.

    So they are Greeks? Also I’m confused with the Picts, are they a Celtic-like people? Or Native American? I lean more towards the Celtic comparison but I also feel maybe both.
    Edit: I know this is all fantasy but I feel like there’s some grain of truth in there based on actual people and events.

      Hey The Kid, sorry for only responding now. The Author of the Conan the Barbarian stories, Robert E. Howard, did base the people of the universe on actual peoples from history. Most of the peoples from the stories are precursors to "modern" peoples. R.E.H. Wrote a whole essay to briefly explain the events and peoples of the Hyborian Age, I'll link it here. Check out the etymology section for the info you're after. P.S. I'm not 100% about the Picts, it seems R.E.H. did change his version of their lore at least once. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyborian_Age

    I thought Atlantis sunk. With s handful of ships escaping..

    • @mrmollusk7367
      @mrmollusk7367  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Matt, you're absolutely right. According to R.E. Howard's essay, The Hyborian Age, The Atlanteans of the Conan lore had a "Continental kingdom" on the main continent of Thuria. This kingdom largely escaped the ruin of the great cataclysm and this is where many Atlanteans fled when the continent of Atlantis sank.

      Started stacking nemedian on top of yamatai foundations for fortifications in my latest build. Exactly what I was looking for, aiming for a novgorod vibe. Turned out pretty cool so far. Added floatsam bits for some flare in certain spots too

      Hey Javacabe! Thanks for the comment. Yeah, actually the voice over was recorded on a corn cob I found discarded in a bush behind my house. The reason the sound is so faint is because I had to stand really far away because it was really smelly.
