Coating of a Public Pool with VIP Polyurea

The city of Augsburg required a fast curing surface coating system with good outdoor weathering,
chlorine-water resistant, no cracking and stable features for a newly constructed outdoor
pool. Anti-slip characteristics were required for surface. Application with 1:1 heated, high-pressure
mixing equipment. Lack of time and cost advantages favoured Polyurea QuickSpray
(Potable Water Approval), a 100% Polyurea 2-part Coating-System derived from a reaction of
Isocyanate and Amine terminated resin.
Processing took place in 5 steps:
1. Concrete was prepared and cleaned of any residues that may have an
affect to bonding.
2. Surface was primed and sealed, water vapour proof, adhesion improved.
3. The aromatic Polyurea QuickSpray applied with heated mixing equipment.
4. Anti-slip features achieved by using Overspray-method.
5. After 24 hours application of pigmented QuickCoat-Base Protect (aliphatic) again with
heated mixing equipment.
The complete process of surface-preparation, application of QuickSpray Supreme W (aromatic)
and QuickCoat-Base Protect (aliphatic) was successfully completed in three working days,
despite adverse weather conditions.
