Even as a kid, I could sense his cuts from Fairy Tail were the most memorable visuals in the 2014 series. It's pretty nostalgia looking back as his work now.
What I love about yuya Takahashi is his ability’s to produce solid & consistent animations. What he lacks in scene expressions, he compensates with fluidity. I see why people call him a mini shida. What makes them both different (in my opinion) is how well shida animated Loop Segments. Like Jesus Christ he’s perfected his ability. Shading seems to be another very strong attribute of his, which is greatly appreciated. Overall, I think both artist are highly respected. They’re both an amazing compliment to each other’s styles.
He also did a lot less work on the episode than Shida so that may have contributed in his short polished scenes looking better. With all the Shida stuff that dropped around the same time recently too i wouldn't be surprised if Shida was just spread a bit thin.
Sakuga Daichi late ass reply but that animation was very limited. Most probably due to time constraints. It was mainly still images. Which lasted like what, a minute? He probably didn't have enough time to make more movement within his scene
Yeah, don't get used to it, Yuya's great work accounts for like 50% of the sakuga scenes in the entire show. I mean christ, check SakugaBooru, there's like 6 pages of Fairy Tail from 277 episodes of anime. for point of reference, Legend of Korra an (american-written, korean animated show that ran for 52 episodes) has 7 full pages. My Hero Academia, which just hit episode 55 has 12 pages. Fullmetal Alchemist (both series combined) has 115 episodes with 16 pages of sakuga. Fairy Tail half-asses it's animation even by long-running shonen standards.
Too bad he's only a freelancer animator guy I hope he works for Toei in the future or maybe right now because his art style is like the DBZ style SS forms have bigger and flowier hair unlike now SS forms have small and lego for hair...

Mr-Buenfang I'm aware yeah. When we first became aware of him while Fairy Tail (2014) was airing we came to call him that after we were impressed with his work and the evident Shida influence. He's not the only animator that's been labeled that though, iirc folks used to call Yuichi Hamano that too but Hamano's not as big a name as he once was so the new name took over that mantle. It's been interesting to watch his development to say the least. I may need to do a new MAD because his more recent work has been a step above his work in this one. He just gets better and better.
Many people like to speak of Takahashi as the second coming of god, but for me he's just really good. While an unbelievable action animator, others like Ryo Onishi, Tate, Nakamura, Watanabe, Matsuda, Shida and many more are -in my opinion- better than him. However, I do have to say that his work on DBS is outstanding and a great homage to 90's Dragon Ball (particularly Yamamuro, Shimanuki, Hisada and a few others). Also, his supervison on the Broly movie was REALLY heavy and overall postive (outside of a few minor details), so I would like to see him going foward into the future.

while I do love fairy tail once 2014 stated the animation took a complete dive for the new art style. I saw a comment sat this and it is completely true that yuya did practically all of the good animation out of 2014
Takahashi doesn't have an artstyle of his own and this is easy to spot, since he struggled in DBS 114 and 122 to provide consistency despite being AS in both episodes (though only the second halves). Shida had *decades* to develope a style of his own and it's easily recognizable because of his exquisite shading and major approach on characters' detail (good lord, his hands are gorgeous). People just like to say that Takahashi is better because he mimics late DBZ's artstyles, but that's it. If anything, I'd say that Takahashi's combat animation, despite being incredibly fast paced, it doesn't lose impact like Shida's does, and that's what I like about him.

Having a bunch of artstyles from Z isn't within my definition of "consistency". Though I do like his art (who doesn't?), he's leagues below Shida yet. What's worse, his corrections are as invasive as Yamamuro's, which is easier to spot in 114.

I agree I feel like Takahashi's art is better then shidas, but I feel like shidas animation just beats out takahashi's own animation. Because Shida is very stylized and detailed and expressive. You notice this if your a fan of dragon Ball or any of the precure series. While Takahashi does have some of the best rotations, flips and spins I've seen ever. Unless you count animation God Arifumi Imai (he was in charge of many gorgeous cuts of animation from attack on Titan and one punch man. Particularly Levi vs Zeke and Saitama vs Genos.)
This animator have a good art but his animation is not too good because when i seen the 110 cap in dragon ball super i expected that the hair of goku in the wind will move so cool but it was like rotating
