  • This is how you can travel to Svolvær, Lofoten Island by plane in March, WINTER. I had a thousand questions in my mind on how to get to Svolvaer when i was planning the trip. Which transport mode plane or ferry is easier, cheaper, less tiring, faster and how convenient it is.
Lofoten Island has 2 airports in Svolvaer and Leknes. Both are small but efficient.
If not mistaken only Widerøe fly to Lofoten and there is no direct flight from Oslo Gardermoen (being the main airport in Norway). I chose to transit in Bodo straight from Oslo Gardermoen, from south moving up north.
Most flight will need to stopover at Bodo to change airplane to Wideroe to get to Lofoten, Svolvaer or Leknes.
    Flight Schedule : 28 Feb 2023
    Oslo to Bodo : 08:30 to 10:00
Bodo to Svolvaer: 11:00 to 11:25
1 hour flight transfer at Bodo Airport is more than enough and the Gates are close to each other. Rather easy and no hassle at all.
Wideroe airplane is small but very clean and comfortable. We were lucky because no delay so we got to Svolvaer as scheduled.
Just follow me and no more doubt getting to Svolvaer by air now.
    Thank you for watching.

Hi… the car company website is www.lofotenrentalcar.no. You can email them at post@lofotenrentalcar.no and let them know your schedule and capacity and type of car suitable to you. They will quote you the price based on How many days, type of car and pickup and drop off location.
Once agree they will keep the car for you and notify via email.
You can arrange with them about car collection which my case they parked at the airport and we drove to their office to make payment. This company is good as payment only be done Once we arrive .. no need booking fee or advance payment. Their procedure is also simple. Price is ok too. They are local company with own workshop… you can try email them for the price. You dont need international Driving licence … but your current car licence need to have english word for them to understand
      Enjoy your trip!

Leaving for Lofoten in 2 weeks. This video helped me a lot. Thank you. Why did you not fly directly into Evenes airport that has direct flight? Any specific reason ? Thank you again.

Glad it is helpful to you. Since I was in Oslo so taking via Bodo i guess is the shortest time and shortest route as compared to going up north to Evenes and flying back south to Svolvaer. Moreover most flight I found was via Bodo and the schedule i opted was good reaching Svolvaer at 12pm just nice for lunch, then check in hotel at 3pm.
You picked the right time to visit Lofoten. The northern light has started dancing in the sky. Do ask me more if you have any other questions. Happy holidays !
