I make children's fancy dress costumes, and storing patterns is a constant headache. With over 100 patterns, finding the pattern I want can take ages. Like you, I keep coming back to just a few favourite patterns, that I use time and time again. Happy sewing.
Kirilee: I have six patterns I always come back to! Me: I have so many self drafted patterns because I have a problem. I kid you not I have so many patterns, the most of it consisting of basic bodices, basic sleeves and circle skirts that are all of different lengths, seam lines and styles that have made an appearance in one point or another in my costumes. I think I need to do a pattern purge so I have more room to make more proper patterns that I could use sometime in the near future
wow!some of these patterns I hadn't seen (I own alot too! oops!) My favourite patterns are: simplicity 1093 (my go to skirt pattern!) and simplicity 1091 by Lori Ann for the shrug! Also I've been using the M4948 for my Alice dresses!
my favorite pattern is simplicity 2355, its a super easy corset pattern and it fits me so well, it's a great base for a lot of cosplays, mostly I make my own patterns though!
@@KirileeCosplay they are called "Make It Easy". No they are not block patterns but i have a dress makes book (also from the salvos) that teaches me to alter clothes!!
I just bought a whole heap of patterns that were on sale at spotlight so I haven't had a chance to try them all out yet. I'm trying out the Butterick 4377 and 4571 medieval style dresses for cosplays right now and so far so good! Oh and I did use a formal pattern from Simplicity 8596 for a Wonder Woman blue evening gown cosplay (but I haven't finished it yet... I still need to do the draping part which I'm dreading)
I used butterick 5761 by connie crawford the most out of all my cosplay. It has the line and silhouette that I love using. It's close to my size without sizing up all the time like the others.
Hello! I'm making version B from 7615 and I was wondering do I really need over 10 yards of tulle for the skirt? And do you have any advice on putting the skirt together. I read over the instructions and I'm a tad confused on the construction and how it's supposed to be made from 72 inch wide fabric considered I'm a short person.
I just started using patterns, so... I mostly just make circle skirts lol. I'm too gifted up top (I'm an F) and broad for most shirt/dress patterns, but I just got a plus size simplicity pattern and a Butterick Jacket pattern that fits my shoulders.
That's awesome - patterns for those who are too gifted up top, as you say (and I love that phrasing :)) are difficult to find. I think I see them to go to a D or DD - but at least those are better to amend from than the "one size fits all" sort of bodice patterns.

Hahaha! I'm glad I am not alone out there!
I just bought the ballet McCall's pattern 😍 I will use it for my Christine Daae Star Princess Dress 😍😍😍 yes... I may have bought it because of you 😅☺️
Hahaha wonderful. Can confirm, its a good pattern to use and quite easy to alter.
I love Ellie and Mac patterns
I’ve never used those! I’ll have to check them out. Thanks!

Probably a good idea!
I have 200 plus costume patterns, but I find I keep coming back to my favourite half dozen patterns that I sew all the time.
It's so true isn't it?!

Kwik Sew’s k3052 is the absolute best pattern for bodysuits! I have made many a super hero costumes using it.

Oh yeh! I think I’ve seen those “make it easy”... I think I have one in my collection ^_^
Hi do you have a video on the 7615?
Not purely on a review of it- though I used it for the base of my Christine Daae and ariel cosplays which I have vlogs on

Alicia Estelle ah! The smell of new patterns ^_^ good luck with them!

Can't say I've created the skirt
