It is not a racial statement, it is a historical fact. All this area is dotted with sights of battlefields and graves of dead local farmers that fought to protect their families, homes, farms and land. Don't come here and judge the people that lived and died here. They all were not racist and very very few were slave owners.

We own a little over 5 acres just minutes away from Monroe. Keep in mind that they did a documentary on Monroe a few years ago and claimed it was the Methamphetamine Capitol of the World. It is sad but you cannot let your guard down anywhere in the USA anymore. I recognize all of the streets you were driving on in the video. I would not go there at night without one in the chamber and an extra clip.
Monroe is a beautiful town. All towns have good and bad,but Monroe has morals and self respect..more than most!! 4 generations of Monroe'ns and we love it!!! Don't like it,stay out!! We are Walton Proud
