    Howdy from North Georgia. My wife & I just purchased our first Pontoon and are looking forward to doing come Pontoon & Island camping in our area. I really like that tent! Now would be a great time to separate from everyone for a weekend or week!!

      Thanks Mike. You're going to have a lot of fun on the pontoon. I can't wait till summer so I can get back out there. I love my tent. If you're tenting on your pontoon, I would recommend a pop up tent. You don't have to tie it down. I decided to self quarantine in New Mexico, hopping around the state visiting their national forests dispersed camping in my truck camper. LOL I'm loving it.

    My son and I are going pontoon camping in Florida soon. We're not going to stay on the shore over night though. Why do that? That's just inviting all the raccoons and animals to come aboard. You may as well sleep in the woods. Better to drop anchor out a ways if you have everything you need

    • @DispersedCamperMan
      @DispersedCamperMan ปีที่แล้ว

      In Arkansas it gets very hot and humid, I dock on shore to keep my generator on shore to run my A/C in my tent. Keeping my generator on shore keeps the carbon monoxide from getting into my tent and killing me in my tent while I sleep. Boats also fly down the lake all hours of the night, I also didn't want to get hit by one while I was sleeping. So if I'm in my boat, animals will come on board, but if I'm tenting in the woods, animals won't come into camp? Have fun pontoon camping!

      I sometimes use mine for tent camping. I take my two front seats out to make room to set up my pop up tent. The tent I have is a perfect fit for the front part of the boat. I need to get back out there this summer and do some more island pontoon camping myself. A week long trip would be fun and relaxing. Stay safe out there!

    Hey Mark. It's the 2nd of September. Not seeing any new videos in a while. But I know it's also been hot and humid where you are as it is here in East Tennessee. With this pandemic I'm sort of happy to stay home in air conditioning and I tend my garden early morning and usually get a hike in somewhere early early. I just wanted to check on you and be sure that you are okay and staying healthy. Please stay safe out there.

    Really enjoyed your video. Question... Would the racoons get on board if they had to swim out to the boat? I thot the dive part would be super boring. NOT! Can't believe how much underwater life you were able to show us. Totally reconfirmed how much fish like structure. Thank you for this video.

    • @DispersedCamperMan
      @DispersedCamperMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Stephen! I don't think the racoons would be able to get on the boat if you were anchored off shore. This was the only time they actually came on board. I think it was because I left some food out on the boat, they smelt it, and decided they wanted it. LOL Fish are always around structure under water. The smaller fish are always around structure to hide, which attracts the bigger fish in to feed on them.

    • @DispersedCamperMan
      @DispersedCamperMan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      As deep as you want to go in. As far as how shallow: as shallow as not to let your prop hit the bottom. Pontoons are fun to have. A lot of space to walk around on and plenty of room.

    Hows the camping around deer season. Particulary around caney creek?

    • @DispersedCamperMan
      @DispersedCamperMan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't been to Caney Creek during deer season. I usually wait till after the first week of modern gun season to go out camping. That's when most hunters are out in the woods. I do wear orange when I'm out during hunting season also. LOL The best part of dispersed camping, you can camp anywhere in national forests.

    • @dustinbernard9123

      I cant find any rules on taking a camper? Is that legal to take a camper and stay off the side of the gravel roads within th n.f?

    • @DispersedCamperMan
      @DispersedCamperMan 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is legal to disperse camp, boondock, primitive camp in an RV in Ouachita National Forest or the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas. There are a couple of rules of course. You can only stay 14 days in one location. If you want to stay longer, just pack up camp and move somewhere else. You have to stay on established roads; meaning you can't cut your own road/trail into the forest. Pack out what you packed in. All I do is drive the national forest roads and look for spots that people have already camped at. You can tell by the fire pit, or a cleared out area. I prefer going down roads off the main dirt roads to get away from the main dirt road for some privacy. LOL When you figure out what part of the Ouachita National Forest you want to camp in, call the ranger district and ask them questions. It's what I do. I like stopping by their office and picking up maps of their area on my way into the forest. This link will show you the different ranger districts with addresses and phone numbers: www.fs.usda.gov/main/ouachita/about-forest/districts

    I love lake Ouchita, it's 'uge!
    If you get a dehumidifier next, we will fix this global warming! LOL
    106* , 50% humidity here in cantral CA! 😓.
    I'd rather have it 110* & no humidity, so it cools off @ night! 60s is still kinda warm!

    • @DispersedCamperMan
      @DispersedCamperMan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've collected my toys over many years and tried to maintain them so they will last a long time. Preventative maintenance goes a long ways I've learned over the years. I'm still using my original dive equipment I got twenty years ago. LOL Lake Ouachita does have it going on. It's the largest lake in the state of Arkansas. It was very hot during the day. Close to 100 degrees. I'm like you, I can stand the heat, it's the humidity that'll get you. I like the dry heat myself.

    Confused about the camping. At 12 seconds you can camp on any of the 200 islands but a few later, seconds you say can't camp on the shoreline or islands because it's a national forest.
    th-cam.com/video/vypF97mqp08/w-d-xo.html
    You could anchor offshore a couple yards to keep the raccoons off and put a rat barrier on any hanging ropes. For AC, I just don't know you're going to find a quiet alternative. You could buy a block of dry ice, put it in a plastic bag venting outside and keep it in your tent. Might work, probably condense water like crazy though. Lots of bass, cats, carp in that lake. Can't believe any escaped with their filets intact.
    You take care,,,

    • @DispersedCamperMan
      @DispersedCamperMan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was saying you can camp on the Islands or shore since it is a part of the national forest. It was early morning, was still trying to wake up. LOL I normally do anchor off shore, but with a 12 gauge electrical extension cord running from shore onto the boat, I didn't want to take a chance with the cord touching the water. I'm thinking a window unit would be quieter compared to the portable one. I'll get it figured out.

    • @CITAP1
      @CITAP1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good, camping OK. Next step, get the camp coffee maker operational, then AC...
      C'mon, don't let a little 2KW genny cable in the water on an aluminum boat scare you...
