i found this video searching on how to make resin key caps. i realized your channel name kind of sounded familiar and i realized i used to be obsessed with your polymer clay videos from 8 years ago!! so glad i found your channel again and that you’re still doing crafts!! all love
Literally the exact same thing that happened to me!! I’m so glad she’s still making videos and I cannot wait to binge watch to see what she’s been up too so glad I found this channel again!!❤
Such and informational video! And they turned out so cute. 😂😭 just wanted to say an extra thank you for pointing out the importance of safety equipment for working with resin - I’m always nervous when I see creators using bare hands and mask less around that UV resin!!
I know its been a year since this video was uploaded, but I just managed to make enough money to purchase some epoxy resin and the same exact molds you had. I just tried making this yesterday, but was unsuccessful as the stems were too short and the resin wasn't hard enough due to over doing the resin and under doing the hardener. I'm going to keep trying until i succeed, but thank you so so so much for bringing this to me. I am a custom keyboard enthusiast, but the idea of making my own resin keycaps just popped up here. Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. (Also I'm a kid, so that's why it took me a while to earn the money. I only earn a few cents or a dollar or so if I'm lucky.)
Best of luck to you for your next batch!! Resin can be tricky but it is so REWARDING when you demold your first successful batch!!! So happy to hear stories like this. Thank you so much for commenting. It really made my day 😊😊
@@CoolRiceBunnies of course, all of your creations are beautiful and you make awesome videos :) you really inspired me when I used to work with clay and had my own clay channel a few years back ☺
my toxic trait is watching one how-to video and thinking I can perfect it on the first go 😅😂 I loved your reaction when you started popping them out 🥰 this video was very helpful! i want to personalise my keyboard, so this has given me great inspo. TYYYYY
Hi there, your videos are super helpful with the tips and tricks! Question, where do you buy those little plastic cups with the (5) symbol underneath for mixing resin? I'm not sure where to find them. Thank you!
So, a tip for the holo powder, holo powder looks pretty good with most colors. However, if you really want it to *pop* then use it against black. Same goes for most chrome, holo, or color shift pigments. Also, my favorites were definitely the paw print ones! They're so cute! I definitely need to try this.
Awww, that means SO MUCH TO ME, thank you!! Even if I go a couple months without making a new video, I'm always surprised with myself on the improvements I still am able to make with each new upload. I work very hard towards that!
I use a low profile mechanical board with DSA (the lowest profile keycap). Im thinking to make the caps myself the same way you did and sand the top down until it becomes flatter. Do you think it’ll work? Hoping to craft some myself since the keycap options for DSA is so boring
I’ve been wanting to pick up making custom keycaps as well and after seeing this video it made me go straight to Amazon to order my supplies but I was wondering if you used only uv resin for the whole keycap? I’m not sure which resin I’m supposed to use. Do I need epoxy resin? Thanks for the great video btw :)
Very cute! You inspired me to make my own. Do you know why the "fails" (which were still v cute) had uneven edges compared to the ones that turned out really good with even edges? And could you sand them down to make them fit better in the keyboard?
I simply didn't fill those molds up with enough resin, so the air bubbles rose to the top and stayed there! You could always sand the key caps down on the edges yes, but just depends if you want to put in that work and are okay with the uneven look afterwards.
Is that Clearcast 7000 UV treatable on it's own or does it have to be mixed with something? I looked on the website and saw that the cure time was 24 hours. I was already expecting that but the UV light would be nice to speed things up.
Well done, I was curious about the process. We’re having custom keypads and caps made for a product our company is going to sell. You should be able to file and polish any that are too large. I’ve worked with resins many times and a couple minutes of effort can fix the issues that you had.
Ok so this video really want me to start doing resin 😭 but important question, do you really need an UV lamp for this or can u also just wait alot longer? 😓
You can put them in the sun on a really bright day and they will cure in likely 30 mins, but if you don’t want to do that you can get 2 part resin and you just have to wait a day or two until it’s dry
i really love the white glitter pawprint one. i love that you were also just watching corpse husband playing among us (omg can't wait for the drunk among us today). i've always wanted to get into resin, so this is such a good motivation!! great video and great editing :)

hi! thank you for this video i ordered the same molds but wanted to be sure i didn't do anything wrong. where are the stickers you used from or do you know where i can get similar ones?
Hi Eliana! The stickers I got are from Japanese stationery and plushie stores local to my area, but you can use any kind of sticker that isn't made out of paper. You can find cute ones in craft stores. If the sticker is made out of paper, just be sure to seal it with something like Mod Podge on both sides.
Sent here by Adafruit! Really thinking about making custom keycaps for my macropad that I use for computer-aided design... I want it to be functional (ie, keys labelled) but also cute and follow my personal donut theme. Have to spend some time thinking about how to pull it off. I might just get high-quality stickers printed, and then put a layer of epoxy over them so they don't get worn.
Sounds like a fun project! Just make sure your stickers are water resistant before applying the epoxy over them or else it can eat away at it (if it’s just plain paper). If they are just plain paper stickers you can seal them first with something like mod podge. Also thanks for mention Adafruit! Is that another TH-cam channel? Did they mention this video or my TH-cam channel or something?
All right, those are really cute. I want to try this. I'm really surprised the UV cures through the molds. I thought it would block the rays. Call me dumb if you like.
These are the stock keycaps that came with my Epomaker SK61 board! A similar set you can find but with different colored legends is the “macaron keycap” set
Letting it sit in the sunlight or just regular light takes a little longer but yes you can. Most resin will give you time estimates on how long each process takes. UV lamps are pretty affordable on Amazon. Hope this helps!
I think I got my UV lamp on Amazon for about $30? But you can find much cheaper ones and that are smaller in size as well. You can always just cure UV resin in direct sunlight but it may take longer. Like the other user who commented said, most UV resin brands will let you know how long they need to cure whether its in the sun or with a lamp. :)
