Ive watched dozens of these type videos but you taught me more than all of them put together, you got to the basics and your colors are amazing and beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
I work in sheetmetal at a roofing company. We found upon heat coloring copper to seal it we use Johnsons Floor past wax. I have some items that are several years old.
This is so cool!😊 I just discovered this art form in the last week or two. I make jewelry (wire wrap and bench) so I was very excited to try this today on some copper rectangles for earrings. My first try, I had really good colors (purples, orange, red, and green) but I should've stopped while I was ahead. LOL! I went too far/too long and messed it up. I had to clean my copper and I'm about to start over, hence the reason for finding your demo. This is lots of fun and your video is awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your technique. Your work is really beautiful. ❤️❤️❤️
... why don't you have a thermal temperature detector, you know one that you point, pull trigger, and it displays the temp? For a newbie it would be helpful to know what temp the metal is and then what effects they can produce with the metal at that temp. Really a neat idea, and one I would employ if I did the type of fishy work you do Larry!
Thanks for this, I can see all sorts of opportunities for this but the problem is sealing in the colour. Wax and varnish always take something away. but nice work and thanks for taking the time to share it. Regards . . . Andy
Fantastique Berliotz - could you give me more specifics on a “bath of acrylic urethane”. Is that something I would purchase on Amazon, or at a local hardware store??? Like where? Specific name or brand? Thanks!
Hi there, great video and thank you for sharing. Just a bit of advice needed, is there a method or process after colouring to seal those colours? such as a clear lacquer or wax or nothing at all? many thanks Sir.
Very Nice Video well put together very nice explanation of what you are doing and why!!! I want to make a wind spinner that uses the copper veins and this give me some nice ideas.
Hello Larry Low, That is remarkable. I see this is over a year old and your channel is not that active. I wish you posted more but no matter. It is what it is, best wishes to you, I hope your doing well Thank you for this video. Rick
so does that mean you can re-heat and re-cool and it will do the color changing again. In a large piece can you heat small areas at a time and then later do another section?
Hi there, in doing smaller jewelry pieces, is it better to use a thinner copper like 24 gauge? I have been trying 18 gauge & I cant get darker colors to stay. TIA
Hej i do this with a gas torch and a small one also but when finished how do i keep the colour onto the copper ? What i mean is, i sand down the copper, shine it up with wire wool and then use my burner on it , oce i have the colours i leave it cool, but then on some of them the colours all rub off and i am left with a blotchy colours . Any tips please ? Thanx could i use a lacquer to hold fast the patina also ?

I use fine steel wool when I fired it till it was black. Fine Steel wool is amazing for copper. It's so much fun!! 🙋♥️✝️🇺🇲
Awesome video thank you for posting this
Those colors are gorgeous! Beautiful job.
Most helpful video I’ve seen on the topic, thanks.
Thank you so much Larry! I've learned more from you than anyone!

For all those wondering how to preserve the color, once it's finished, dip the piece in a lacquer bath of acrylic urethane..

I like the silvers, blues, and purples.
Magical! , Thankyou , ive started working with copper and i love this metal..

Thank you Larry! Now I know how tocolor copper the right way.
Very Nice Video well put together very nice explanation of what you are doing and why!!! I want to make a wind spinner that uses the copper veins and this give me some nice ideas.
very informative. how do you keep the colors from oxidizing with time...what type of protectorate do you use?
Thanks for the inspirational piece✨👍🏼
احسنت صنعا هذا فن نادر ..انا معجب بهذا العمل الفني بكثيرا ..شكرا
This is a great video. I learned so much from it. Thank you.
Dude...that was JUST what I needed. THANK YOU!!
You make it look easy!
Larry,; excellent work. I wish my hand was still as steady as yours.
Wow! This is really helpful. Thank you!
We can fix the torch to stabilize it and just move the copper piece in front of the flame for better control of the lines and patterns.
Just Beautiful, thanks so much❤
Could you have a fan blowing on it? It seems like that would help with cooling. I’m going to try doing this. Thank you, Cheers!
Thank you!!

nice job, what clear coat do you use ,so blues and purple show thru?thank you
Love the musical backdrop (at about 8:30)! I'm jealous of your sound system. Very nice video. Thank you!
Precioso trabajo, que pena que no tenga traducción
so beautiful!
How do you keep the color over time? Natural oxidation will kill it, and every thing I've used to try to coat and save the color just dulls it down.
Once it's finished, dip the piece in a lacquer bath of acrylic urethane to preserve the color.
looks amazing! I have a question tho. Does the thickness of the copper matter? I have some copper knife scales that I would love to try this on.

Love it got to get better torch
How did you attach the fish to the wire so that it did not fall off while heating? Seems like solder should have melted off.
How do you stop it from tarnishing? I have tried various metal laquers but they change the colour
Thanks for this! Very cool.
Great video Great help!!! Thank you
I really enjoyed your video. Do I need to seal the copper afterwards or will it stay the heated colour.
Carol
Hi Carol, did you find an answer?
Can you use a butane touch? Your colors are beautiful, I get color but they are faded. How to seal also? Thanks if you are able to answer!
Awesome work......
Thanks Larry, that was a great demo. How stable are the colours? Do they change with time and exposure to elements- such as outside?
Saw vid of someone using copper plates for clock face, he applies a clear coat on it to keep the colors.
Wonderful tutorial!Thank you for sharing!
Do you have any recommendations for an economical source of copper / brass sheet? Thanks!
Very cool Sir! Can a regular propane torch work for this, or would you recommend MAPP gas? Thanks!
TY for posting. Very nice. I presume that you are using propane gas?
I think he’s using acetylene.
Thank you! I love it! 🥰 You didn’t have to share but you did! 😘
Will you please do some videos on copper?
totally gorgeous! thanks so very much:)

Me gusta mucho esto pero necesito la traducción en Español gracias
Wow nice
it's lovely.
Interesting.
I saw some tutorials where the dunk the copper in water to cool down. Is this an option or does it ruin the results?
Is this possible to do with bell bronze?
Thanks! Nice!
does the technique work on bronze?
Why does the fish not drop off the rod when heated?
Bob Ross of copper....
Amazing!
I think maybe I got my lil pieces to hot. Or my lil torch wasn’t hot enough
couldnt you throw WATER to cool it down??
So cool thanks! :-)
How do u seal the pieces?
What gas torch?
Unbelievable…………………..
In other words, anything and everything will affect the colors.
Can you do this with a a butaine torch or does it hafto be acetylene
