  • Can you get a usable modelled guitar sound from iPad software that costs under £10? This Yonac’s Tone Stack Go, it’s around 6 years old and it is being used in this video to create the raw guitar amp sound (a 59 Bassman). It is also handling the EQ, reverb and overdrive pedal… and it’s doing the recording - the software today costs £8.99 and you can add low-cost amps, effects etc to it as you go.
I’ve deliberately chosen inexpensive guitars, the first is a Warmoth with Rio Grande pickups, next is an MJT Jazzmaster with Lollar Pickups and last but not least is a VERY cheap Chinese import. Including shipping and import duty, the whole guitar cost less than either set of pickups on the other two.
There is no external processing and no fancy programming, just choose an amp and a cab, set the microphone where you want it, fiddle with the virtual knobs until it sounds right, I added a tube screamer and some reverb - all included with the software.

Sweet! I was wondering how can I connect the guitar to the iPad? I assume you still use the interface for that, right? but what sort of cables...?
