R&B. It’s turn back to the late 70’s. I was a teen in the sixties. This is definaley late 70’s. Think of Bee Gees, Commedores, R&B towards the disco era. Donna Summer.. I read that there were 36 chord changes. It’s a master’s class in arranging, orchestration and production. Changing key in the bridge..definitely big band tradition. Love it.

Yes ma'am. Thank you. People were throwing the word Motown a lot, but now that you mention, it's definitely later. This is only the first teaser song of their album, and I'm thinking one or two faster tracks are gonna go in a "Kool and the Gang" direction. Oh your youth and twenties had the best of the best, Roberta Flack, MJ's "Off the Wall" just dropped. What a time

a live bruno concert is an experience, and I've seen some of the greatest. go and go more than once. my 5th time seeing him was in vegas, literally the last show before the covid shut down in march. can't wait to see him again. for me, the only modern day artist that I'll spent time, money, effort to support; he's just that super talented special. loved your reaction.

@L!ber!an Girl Clearly you're unfamiliar with guys from the hood standing around belching out tunes just like this before being discovered. It was quite common in most "hoods" during the 60s & 70s. So yes, this is straight hood.
FYI, "the hood" is not just gang banging, violence, wild women & vile men as it is often portrayed in the media, there are also law abiding, hardworking, extremely talented, gifted & quite blessed people in many hoods as well.

I agree with the comments you guys as well. This studio version is so dynamic, cultured, classic and certainly a hit from the start. But I had the liberty of hearing the live version of it 1st on the Grammys and it was soooogotdamggggooodd. The style and dance and watching them both doing what they do live and so much more stylish, classical and the group dancing, background vocals we're so together and then Bruno, when he puts those live vocals on his part it just takes your breath away. They both are so talented and to unite this brilliance together is remarkable, unique, and we get real music to listen to for a change.I love it!!!

Y’all, Bruno has been doing this forever. He is like a living breathing p, throwback. His exact quote is he’s trying to bring funk bacl. From 24k magic the album to everything he’s done after that it’s always been a tribute to the 70’s blues.....

Thats what im thinking. People voice reactors who often reacts to Bruno Mars are amateurs or probably pro who just wants views.
If you are a professional vocal coach, Bruno is not the one you want to coach or react. His voice is already gold and priceless and in my opinion, he doesnt need to be coach anymore.

I love that the video implies they recorded this live to a two track tape, although that’s obviously not how they recorded any of their songs. (They’re old skool, but not that old). Bruno is such a stickler for perfection that Anderson had to kick him to finish the album mixes.

Y'all have made me recognize just how ultra contemporary this track is. I lived through the 70s and 80s. That bounce is modern. The move that this tune has you do is different. It's a far far cry from disco. What you guys need is to come to my church. We'll have the bop, and the bounce. We don't have the precision though. I promise you Mr. Mars recruited these fellows during a mid week revival. The Pastor was in a band in the 70s and rocks with the youngsters doing the modern. That drop is a different drop. They do everything from that time exactly perfectly. Like solar engine in a Buick Elctraglide 225.

This is more like the school bus when I was a kid. We sang songs and had the high voices. Most importantly we listened to how we all sounded together and genuinely enjoyed the total sound we had. This is like us having grown up practicing. Hey I practiced. Just not as much. Not as much practice not as good singing. But an old dog can learn new tricks. Or an old dog can hit his harmony note and then get back to playing horn.

I love your reaction to this song, your love of the music! Men of
younger generations...this is what real "panty dropping" songs sound
like - unlike what I hear in rap music of today. It's time to UP your
    game fellas...lol.
When it comes to sex..."Men are like microwave ovens (Quick to start)
and we women are like regular ovens (take time to heat up)". Fellas, if
you want to up your game you need to engage our hearts and brains by
making us yearn for you, show us you'll cherish what we share with you,
and take the time to heat us up with some romancing vision through your
sexy words. We are not VISUALLY turned on like you men are. We are turned on
through your actions, words, touch. Check out the lyrics and vibe of this song...it brings all
those points across!! We women want to run into this room with the door
open after hearing BRUNO and ANDERSON paint such lovely moments of what can be.
Everything in the studio is from the 1970s...the furnishings, carpets,
colors, disco ball lights, equipment, instruments like the tambourine -
even the reel-to-reel shown in the opening...all 70's vibe. The clothes
they are wearing including on the girls, even the hairdos - vintage
'70s. The "La la la la la" done by Bruno in the chorus and the "Woo Woo
Woo" done by Anderson.Paak is a classic 1970's Motown sound as is the
fade out of the song at the end. Although I am 63 years old and grew up
with what I think was the best music of my generation, the 60's, 70's
and 80's, I am still in my 30’s in my mind, heart, and spirit due to
this kind of music. This song has such a great vibe!!!!! I sort of feel
bad for the younger generations as most of their songs don’t evoke
romance, yearning for someone, fantasizing of what could be… I sure
am glad young folks are making such great music again and that younger
people are getting the chance to listen and appreciate real singing.

To me, this song reminds me a lot like Philadelphia Soul

    80s and 90s? No sir that's 70s disco vibe.

Little bit of everything but I think mostly 70s. Kind of like an Earth Wind and Fire flow or some other act during that era

Exactly lol. This is totally 70’s vibe with the plaid pants, big glasses and disco vibe! This is no 80-90’s.

It’s not 70 disco/ I know the disco ball... it’s 70s R&B with 21century Bent/ brought by Anderson. Paak who is as much if a musician and singer as Our Beloved Bruno. He knew he needed Paak to bring the funk. His drums and his singing meld Perfectly with Bruno incredible voice!
Yall need to find Anderson paak on youtube he is a gem!

Pre-disco. Those drums are real. Disco drums are mechanical. Philly soul is evergreen.
