Flying Pig Games is hands down, one of the best in quality and has excellent customer service! My replacement counters arrived 3 days after contacting them. Now that's customer service. I've never had a problem with a FPG that wasn't resolved. Too bad other game companies don't follow their lead (Take care of your customers and they'll take care of you). This is my overall favorite WW2 tactical game. It reminds me of an upgraded original Squad Leader but simpler yet realistically challenging and fast playing. TY Mark & Shane!
My favorite WWII tactical game. 👍 There's a lot of good ones out there too. I used to use this rubber, kinda perforated shelf liner mat, that you can pick up almost everywhere at retailers, to cut strips to use for scenario map boarders. Super cheap, worked great, cut strips with a pair of scissors and you're all set.
Good video .... I love OST - nice balance of playability, crunchiness of capabilities and fog of war (uncertainty) - and easy to learn/teach. IMO, they do need to provide the missing counters (I simply did not pay that much to have to make my own counters or buy a copy of YAAH to get what should have been there in the first place) - and as a kickstarter supporter, i hope to receive soon and am glad FPG committed to send them. Everyone makes mistakes (despite what a certain TH-camr rants about) and a quality company will make things right. I have a number of tactical systems - but for me, OST is my favorite.
Generally a good and fair review. I like that the narrative is fast and gets the points across without the typical "old timer slow ramble" of most videos. The video was posted only 12 hours ago and I would note that FPG -!DID!- cover the counters issue for this release by sending out the missing counters a couple weeks ago. Thumbs UP FPG ! The video is new but it needs to be updated and re-uploaded to be fair and accurate to FPG and it's clients. The video also fails to mention the extremely dark map. There's just the lame excuse presented that the summer map is harder to read because the text doesn't have the highly contrasting white background of snow. It's harder to read because the ink is WICKED DARK. FPG needs to present an option or two for us to eliminate this lousy summer map problem. I will BUY a better map . . . if available. Anyway, good review for a (mostly) fantastic product, but since the counters issue has already been resolved a couple weeks before the video post, it needs to be fixed.
Does playing this opposed not become a problem, if you are lets say playing a scenario that uses only the bottom right hand corner of the map, how would the player sitting across the table furthest away from that corner see and move the counters effectively?
Got this game out to start playing through the volumes in preparation for Vol 4 sadly, my map 1 is printed so dark I can’t even read the hex numbers. Completely unuseable. Also, I never received the missing counters even after an email to FPG. Wish I had something more positive to say, as I like the system. Got into it in anticipation of Modern OST, which is still a long ways off. Oh well
Shoot Mark another e-mail, he WILL make it right for you! The first e-mail could have ended up in the SPAM filter or been overlooked, so try him again.
Moe, my replacement counters arrived in Texas today. Mark runs a great company with excellent games.

I got mine 3 days after contact... What great customer service on top of a great tactical series. FPG knows how to take care of its customers.
Best tactical series out there. Love it.
Hey Moe I received the missing counters from FPG a couple of weeks ago. Keep an eye out for a letter from FPG for your missing counters

A few years ago Stuka Joe did some great play through videos on OST including every facet of game play…They are well worth checking out.
Well done, this series are fun to play.

I've got a couple of questions
1. What does the balka terrain do?
2. Do the shock units have any rules?
I forgot to look through the unit cards.

depending upon one's table and space setup, can sit at 90 degrees from each other if that is more convenient ....
