- The Switchbot S10 actually does more than just vacuum and mop, and EVEN MORE bizarre than filling its own tanks from the main water supply, it does something utterly nuts!
This video Review is sponsored by Switchbot, all opinions are my own
Easily the best Robovac of 2024 this is a side by side comparison of the Narwal Freo X ultra VS Switchbot S10, and it's a robovac battle to the death!

Happy Saturday Everyone! This thing is about £600 cheaper than it should be, and they’re discounting it! See below…

How long will the discount be available?
I don't understand your math. It's normally £999.99 so how is £879.99, £600 cheaper?
Sorry for the confusion, I wasn’t referring to its original price tag, I meant its about £600 cheaper than equivalents from Roborock for example
I backed this on KS and have had this for close to 3 months and is truly a hands-off system. The rollermop gets the floor much, much cleaner then the vibrating pad system and or the spinning pads of filth, had both and sold those.
This is my system of choice and with switchbots ongoing and continuous support/upgrading this cant be beat IMHO. I have honestly set it and forget it and it just keep going, cleaning and going....
Great vlog as usual, thanks!
Now if it also did well on my tiled floors, I'd share your unbridled enthusiasm.
But yes, It *is* a very good product.
@lrrrruleroftheplanetomicro6881 I indeed using it on my tile floors and having the same good results. Is it the best, no but a marked step above what is out on the market now. They need to design a roller with soft bristles on it to get hard surfaces like tile, to give it a better scrub, time will tell
I reacted the same way to the mop not getting to the edge at first, but after running it now, I realized that I don't really walk to the edges of my room, so it wasn't an issue. Just my experience. Other than that, it works great.
We did have a couple of minor headaches setting up initially. The software preferred i-phone, and would not connect to our wifi through android (they may have corrected this issue). We got around this by using an i-phone, connecting it, then going back to the android app. The instructions for the water station (not connected to water mains right now) didn't specify using a seal at the connections, and we had a small leak. After adding the seal, no more issues. The light grey and dark grey hoses can kink, so be careful when securing them. Ours kinked, and would not refill water. Took us a minute to find the issue, because we weren't looking at the hoses. Just be aware of this.
All in all, very happy with the job it does. You didn't mention this specifically, but it navigates fabulously through the legs of chairs. Enjoy!
The elephant coming from the other direction means it can wait in the hallway until it's needed. Genius.
They’re multiplying, they could now come from any direction 😳
This review is an absolute game-changer! 🎮 I love how you compared the Switchbot S10 to the Narwal Freo X ultra, giving us a real robovac showdown. It's clear that the Switchbot S10 is a force to be reckoned with in 2024!
I’m glad for this review.
It’s more than I want to pay for a robot vacuum but at $999 who can argue how well it would clean the holodeck floor after Riker “evacuated his fluids.”
I strongly considered this during its crowd-funding phase. Seemed amazing. And while I have some of their stuff I was dubious, in no small part because I couldn’t find much coverage. So it left my mind.
I would definitely buy this if our house wasn't such a tip with kids and dogs running all over the place. Let me know when there's a robot that can pick up toys, that will be a winner. 🙂
They're working on it now.
Agh! I almost went to get this until you said the dreaded words "uses a dust bag". I don't want a dust bag esp if in the future the decide to discontinue the bags then I'm screwed of have to find a 3rd party alt. Really hope the next version fixes that, then I'd be all over it instantly
100% Agreed
I'll just use mine without dust bags. not really a problem.
There's one suction hole in that compartment, needs to be covered with an extra filter, then you can go bag-less.
It definitely was a Unix system. IRIX running the fsn file manager.
I been following this product for a hot minute and I think I am going to try it. I have two of the deebots and will probably keep them and add this to the mix. Thanks for the review!!
Nice video Paul. That self cleaning roller is insane!
Paul, you've still got the shirt plastic tag on the arm 😂
I was hoping no one would notice that! 🤣
Haha, noticed that too, we're you planning on returning it?😂
Came here to make this exact comment 😂
Thats totally genius!!!! I call that cycle of buying and returning things "guilt-free shopping" 😂
My guy is trying to optimize his expenses. Can understand that. Plus you don't need polos in the meh UK weather.
The funniest thing in that scene from BTTF is that with all the ultra high tech he put in, there is still a dollar store mechanical alarm clock mounted to the dash.
I appreciate that you still have the tag on the pink shirt (on the sleeve) while phoning in complaints.
I remember when my robovac went thru a big pile of cat sick. Getting that stuff out of every nook and cranny on the machine - Blaaaaghhhk!
🤮 that’s the worst 🤣
I'm not Rob, I'm already subscribed, liked, and I'm even a little patron, but indeed I was in the toilet when you said that😂 greetings from Spain!
Paul needs to have the elephant come from behind him now and push him into the screen 😂 awesome review as always! Love my switchbot K10+ betcha the S10 is some next level stuff
I need a robot that empties my fluids all by itself. You know when you wake up with a hangover and need a massive wee but you physically can't walk to the toilet.
Hang on, what sort of fluids were you thinking of?
They exist too. Review coming next week!
My solution is to keep an aluminum water bottle (wide-necked, naturally) at the bedside. Just be careful not to mix it up with your actual water bottle.
🤮
@@eadweard. When I was single and living alone and the toilet was all the way downstairs, I used to do the same. Right up until I had the exact mix up you mentioned.
Funny how you don't taste anything until you have stopped chugging. That's when the realisation and gagging started.
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Tremendous video as always 😂 but 10 minutes to not clean a rug that i could do properly with a Shark in 30 seconds 🤦
Looks good Paul, thanks. Happy Saturday.

First time I've watched your videos in the last couple of months. Safe to say. I was laughing in the first minute ha ha. Love your humour mate.
Welcome back dude! 😁
Great video as always!
Thanks mate! Happy Saturday!
I wonder if they could make a dehumidifier that the robot could ferry the water to the drain then all you'd have to do is clean the dehumidifier filter when it needs it 🤔
That's listed as a future product on their website. The robot empties the dehumidifier when full and it can use that water to mop the floors.
Phew. For a second there I'd thought you'd named your robot Rob and asked him to subscribe. 🤔 Did he?
Well now his name is Rob! That’s on you!
@@paulhibbert Isn't Robbie the Robot taken, possibly forbidden on this planet 🤣
Does the mop function work on multiple floors, or just the vacuum feature? Great video Paul as always.
i always love your skits lol
Thanks mate! 😁
1:05 - Congratz on starting a new family with Marty. Nice of that old man to care so much about your kids.
I am frightened of that old man, but it was nice to sit on Marty's knee
I'm not sure if this helps but I have the K10+ and one thing I did was mark where the carpets are in the mobile app. It's not had any problems knowing that they are there, though I need better carpet tape to hold them down since the K10+ is still powerful enough to move them about.
I don't even own a RoboVac pricey for my cheap arhse... still watch for some odd reason, enjoy ur vids on these. 😄
I'm still waiting for a Robo Vac with Water filter for the Dustbin.
No more Dust bags. No more emptying anything.
Smart idea! Wonder if it’s already patented 🤔
How does it work with home assistant
I can picture Paul at his desk editing. "But I made this same joke last week" But it fits so well. "OK damnit I'm doing it again!" What a Mad Lad.
This is a weekly problem 😂
I just revisited this video after seeing the Eufy S1 Pro which looks like it's got a similar system but a lot better. Please review the Eufy S1 Pro if you can, it looks very promising. Only issue with it mopping such large spillage like ketchup is that it might end up in the vacuum mechanism like you can see in this video. Probably okay for normal grime and marks but if you have an obvious spillage then best to at least get the bulk of it off manually before sending out these robots.
No sugar test again!!
I’m learning 😂
Well that's no fun!!
Every iteration seems to be a step closer to perfection
Paul, what happens if all the robot vacuum cleaners you have decide to clean your house at the same time. (Robot wars comes to mind)
Then AI will be the referee in that showdown 😁
Could you start including how well devices work woth Home Assistant, please? Thanks mucho! Love the show!
Our house used to be three houses and has a step between levels on each floor so not really any practical use. Even if we lived on a single level, over £1000 plus bags seems a bit OTT for a cheapskate like me who would rather a quick clean with a portable Dyson/Polti Vaporetto. Interesting though. Many thanks. Will wait for the all singing, all dancing version from Boston Dynamics!
To get the Switchbot to clean your dark carpet just squirt Ketchup on it.
Does it work with the Habitat 8?
where do you add detergent?
Morning Sir, happy Saturday!
Happy Saturday dude! 😁
What u think about Dreame s20 ultra ???
Happy Hibbertday 😁
Right back atcha brother!
"How did we get from..." I could launch into a variation of the "tears in the rain" Roy Batty speech but suffice to say one of the advantages of being born around the time they invented dirt is that you have a pretty good idea of how fast technology is moving these days. (To be honest, I actually hope I'm still around when "we don't need roads.")
The other thing that perspective does, however, is sometimes put you in that fugue-state where you can't decide whether to plunk down on something that's absolutely amazing or wait for the next iteration which will be even more amazing. (Maybe one that has an actual turd-extraction process?)
It's great to see all the innovations. The self-cleaning mop that doesn't drag ketchup all over your floor is a good example. The fill the humidifier function is another.
Aside: I laughed at the blonde-haired easily offended guy because he apparently missed a fast inuendo you snuck in just before he got offended at a non-inuendo. Well played.
This was a great review of a fantastic product. Thanks for doing it.
Thanks as always mate ❤️
3:36 That's why I have a doggo 3000. Only runs on treats and tummy rubs.
I foolishly dreamt it would be less than £600... I won't be able to afford that after getting a cool, seamless floor like Paul has in his new kitchen. I wonder what it is (off topic, sorry!).
In the words of Obi Wan Kenobi, “that’s no kitchen” 😂
you know the NarWal you reviewed earlier can be plumbed in like this too?
Morning dude! How does it get charged, if the dock is water only?
So you still install the waste dock, it just goes between the two, you’d install the waste dock wherever is convenient for it to charge and empty it’s dust bin, and the water dock would be installed wherever you could plumb it in (though it does have little water tanks if you don’t want to plumb it in)
@@paulhibbert aren't the watertanks optional at extra cost ? I couldn't find them on your amazon links
Oh really!? They came in the same box, there was no separate container for them, so I assumed they came with the wet dock. I wouldn’t like to assume though if you can’t see mention of them in the ad!
@@paulhibbert as far as I can understand, the two watertanks were part of an offer on Kickstarter, even on Switchbots' website I can't find them.
This is it. We reached peak indoor floor cleaning robots
Appriciate the review. I considered getting this one, however I am concerned about long term usage and safety. Especially where water is involved, you will get limescale. I didn't see a water protection system and the refill station will always be connected to the water mains (and therefore it will have to deal with water pressure all the time). If a valve gets stuck (for example because of limescale), you can easily flood your house.
You can buy a water sensor from SwitchBot and place it near the refill station to alert you in case of a leak.
Does it eat cables?
Pls add loose cable avoidance testing to your testsuite
I have the small switchbot vacuum and it’s an idiot, it’s thrown itself down the stairs twice and it doesn’t know where it is when you switch maps. It’s also shit at mopping, it just drags around a wet wipe and usually drops it somewhere halfway through the job
How often do you have to clean the vacuum itself? I have to clean mine weekly because of cat hair.
I’ve never actually cleaned any of mine, but we don’t have pets, so I’m not the best role model 😂
I have older vacuum robots - Roomba j7 and a cheap one (can't remember who makes it. We call it tardbot because it randomly bounces around, no lidar, etc - but does an ok job of keeping the area clean). I also have two daughters and a wife - they have long hair. I have to remove hair from my robots on a weekly basis. I would like to get one that can get rid of the hair wrapped around the rollers.
@@ChrisRideris your tardbot lefant because mine is and l have called it a retarded puppy it tries to mount vertical objects, got stuck under a chair spinning round n round, wore itself out by banging into my bedroom door when l was out and locked itself in there, when l came home it was feebly pulsing l opened the doir of my ground floor flats bedroom it dragged itself wearily to its dock and flopped bone tired on the charger, it was comical watching it crawl towards the charger, l couldnt part with it now as its entertainment value outweighs its cleaning ability, tho it is amazingly and surprisingly good on rugs. £99 it was thats half price. Saved me buying a dog lol
Unfortunate. I was really considering it until the thing with the dust bags 😕
Why build an entire system with plumbing and then force people to use disposable dust bags...
Damn, I want one of these so badly.
OK! So I have to ask paul, how the missus feels about you constantly putting condiments on her shiney floors.
I always got a kick out of that "It's a UNIX system!" quote, because it was actually an IRIX system. (Yes, based on SVR4 UNIX, but heavily modified by Silicon Graphics.)
But the big question is, does it work with Home Assistant?
At first, this crazy American who's still adjusting to his new glasses thought this was a post for a $10 switchbot 😂
If only 🤣. Unfortunately for me I read your comment and also need glasses and I was like "What's he talking about, this IS a video about the S10 Switchbot"
Ohhhhh, sniff, does it work with HA. 'My Wife & I must know' hahaha
🤣 Sadly I don't THINK so. I can't see it in my list under the Switchbot itnegration.
If I havent got my current robot vacuum definitely getting this.
Just 1 thing, I hope it will empty the trash and just throw it into the dustbin through a pipe or something so it will be COMPLETELY hands free.
I've been waiting for the first review of this for a long time and it looks awesome as I thought. I simply need to convince the wife. Any tips? 😂
Buy now ask later. 😂
@@paulhibbert you mean: buy, install, introduce her to it when the floor is filthy 🤔😂. Clever 😁
Make the floor filthy first for good measure!
@@paulhibbert Just don't use sugar.
Let's wait for the switchbot dustbin 😊 😂
At this point, you must have robovacs roaming your house in packs
Ill wait for version 2 of the S10...
Great review. Where is the sugar test...🤣
In my imagination where Neesha keeps it 😂
Draining your tank can be a euphemism. Balls spunk you get the rest
What about sugar? Does it pick up sugar!
We will never know, I am no longer allowed access to sugar! 😔
@@paulhibbert as a diabetic I feel your pain.

Out of curiosity… Did you check about the tomato sauce beforehand? Because I recall an incident involving sugar. 😜🙃
Haha, nope!!

Love your videos, but noticed you only do one video per week now, on Sundays, and typically a paid promotion. Did you go back to work doing something else? Just curious.
Hello mate, it's Saturday 🤣. If you look back through my back catalogue you'll see this has been the case for about 5 years 😊
Talk about not knowing what day it is, Dillon must have made a night of it before posting 😂

I'm not called Rob, but was on the toilet...
Dammit, I was so close!
So... you need to connect it to your pipes randomly in the kitchen or toilet? That's a hard pass.
No, it's an option. There were water buckets in a stand in the video 🤷♂️. I might point out it's an option people have been begging for for a long time
