I was a huge NKOTB fan back in the day. If cell phones and social media had existed back then, I think they would have had even bigger success than they did, which I can't even imagine.
I mean considering that they packed stadiums and had to do multiple shows in each location, and were swarmed by thousands of fans in each city around the globe, and sold millions of albums, I'd say they were just as successful as BSB, *Nsync, or One Direction (they also had 3 Billboard #1 hits in an era where steaming and social media wasn't involved).
Please don't go girl is my favorite song but after listening to all their songs I gotta say at the age of 33 years old this is my first time listening to New Kids On The Block... I love it
My 9 year old told me, "listen to this NEW song it is called "hanging though". I told him, new, It was by a band called the New Kids on the Block and they are from the 1980s. He responded; they had good musical taste in the 80s.
I just love them!!!!! I'm 17 and I love all of their songs!!!!!! My fav is you've got the right stuff and call it what you want!! I had a massive crush on Jordan!😍😍😍
Ayan Ujer I was a teenager back in NKOTB's hayday & Jordan was my favorite too. I had posters, concert videos, I had the Jordan & Joey dolls, I even had an NKOTB sleeping bag. lol. It's nice to know that today's teens can still appreciate these guys. and Jordan is still a total hottie
Joey fan here. I went on google and printed off a bunch of NKOTB pictures and taped them to my bedroom wall. My husband said when he walked in our room it was like he was back in the 90s. I also have some Dicaprio pics around my Titanic poster, BSB & N'Sync pics too. 😂
I always loved them growing up. I was way too young during their hayday, but their return years later finally allowed me to enjoy a live performance of theirs. Will always be the best day of my life.
I was a big big fan of the new kids on the block back then and still am I still have the tapes of there songs and have all of there songs on a playlist on my phone new kids on the block are one of the best boy bands I am in to boy bands still and I am in my 40s
my fave list goes like this: 1. Step by Step 2. I'll Be Loving You Forever 3. Please, Don't Go Girl 4. Hanging Tough / Time Is On Our Side 5. Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time / Still Loving You 6. Baby, I Believe In You 7. Be My Girl/ If You Go Away 8. Tonight / Since You Walked Into My Life 9. Summertime 10. Grown Man/Single Honorable Mention: The rest of NKOTB's songs. It is so hard to choose because all of them are just sooo good 💖💖💖
Now as a 42 year old I gotta thank my mom for always supporting my passions and fandoms, allowing me to buy the records, the magazines... everything! She never mocked me for my love of NKOTB, even going far as helping me collect everything in handmade folders!
These guys were not just another boy band! They even sold more than Michael Jackson and in they're very early years, that most people know nothing about, their 2 records went platinum three times! They were even bigger than the Beatles of that time, as opposed to The Beatles of the time. Even 90's teenage television shows couldn't wear any New Kids on the Block t-shirts or have New Kids on the Block paraphernalia background, like posters on the wall or even make reference to anything New Kids because it was a New Kids on the Block- they were so big! No one could even get the rights to even put up a poster on a t.v show. They were toooo big and popular. They are still going strong as a group and making music not just re doing old songs but they are also having connections with the fans, like actual connections, some of their fans have turned into their actual friends AND each New Kid is still doing their own thing too even while being in the band and the new kids have even brought their children on stage as well at their concerts. They have the best fans even more loyal than some football fans!!! Their fans didn't just watch them grow up, their fans grew up with them. They were real as humans and as an music group. Raw talent. Un manufactured. They changed music forever and there has never been anyone like them.
Who the hell put this list together? How is a song like "I'll Be Loving You (Forever) & "Please Don't Go Girl" not in the Top 3? This was a list by someone that doesn't understand music or their music.
I was happy to see that "If You Go Away" was on the list. I find that song get's overlooked. "My Favorite Girl" and "Baby, I Believe In You" were pretty great tracks too. And "Funky, Funky Christmas" will forever be a favorite of mine (my cousin and I used to crack up at the "you left the fireplace burning and I burned my butt" lyric).
It seems there are many NKOTB songs competing for Top 10. And I agree with your opinion of "My Favorite Girl" & "Baby, I Believe In You", I'd also add "What'cha Gonna Do About It", "Call It What You Want" & so many more. It's so hard to pick just some of them.
Best song in my opinion was "You Got It" (The Right Stuff). Used to love doing that- oh oh, wee oh ee, oh oh wee oh. And the dance for it was Hammer lit.
1. step by step 2. i’ll be loving you forever 3. you got it 4. tonight 5. this one’s for the children 6. cover girl 7. didn’t i 8. please don’t go girl 9. if you go away 10. valentine girl
OK, I have several problems here: 1. This whole list is condescending. "this isn't the most legendary song", "not as popular as later boybands." NKOTB IS the prototype for the modern boyband! How dare you? BSB and N*Sync are literally based off NKOTB. Plus, they aren't really even a boyband in that sense, but more of the Jackson 5, New Edition vein. So please stop referring to them as some sort of bubblegum crap you're daring to recognize. They have more artistic integrity than bsb and n*sync and pretty much anyone who came after because they weren't puppets. 2. Not until the last minute of the video do you refer to Jordan's falsetto as that, a FALSETTO. I'm so tired of Jordan's God-given talent going unnoticed. 3. This whole video is written by someone who appears to know NOTHING about music. (Hence, the falsetto comment). Using vague adjectives to describe the songs doesn't mean you know a damn thing about its impact on pop culture. 4. Tonight is a staple of their set, and it's obvious mirroring of the Beatles' Glass Onion gives it an added layer of intelligence and musical understanding. 5. While Summertime didn't make the Billboard top 10, The album is comes from The Block, debuted at #2, an incredible feat for a band that hadn't put out an album in 14 years. This video is indicative of the issues NKOTB still faces in terms of legitimacy. She on you, Ms. Mojo.
Yeah, in general I thought it was a decent countdown, but I caught the snide remarks that seemed to accompany just about every entry on the list. I also agree that they are less like N'Sync, Backstreet et cetera, and more like Jackson 5 or even vocal harmony groups that preceded that, but that they DID essentially popularize the boyband "formula" that Lou Perlman then followed to create other groups.
My list : 10. Single 09. Never let you go 08. I still believe in Santa clause 07. Games 06. Hangin' tough 05. You got it 04. Dirty dawg 03. Step by step 02. Please don't go girl 01. I remember the first time I listened to NKOTB, I was going on holidays and there album was on the plane so I listened to it and that's when I heard Summertime & Single for the first time & I loved NKOTB👌❤❤
I watch this, and am "nostalgia-crying": I would so much go back to that time! I don´t think how "lucky" we were as teenagers back then! Jordan, Jordan, Jordan!!! So funny, I can see interviews from today, but when Jordan is on, I see his 17-year old version, not the 50 year old man.
Their debut album from 1986 doesn't get enough love, but it's an extremely catchy album from front to back. If you are into NKOTB and never heard it before, please go listen to it right now.
The first group I ever fell in love with. I got to see their reunion tour in 2008, it was AWESOME. Also, I just noticed Jordan is wearing a Bauhaus shirt in the Right Stuff video.... A boy band member wearing a goth band shirt XD
You forgot to mention their Christmas album last night I saw Santa Claus Funky Funky Christmas and Little drummer boy sung by Danny Woods are my 3 favorite songs of NKOTB from their Christmas album, tonight hanging tough step by step are my 3 faves of other albums.
I got the chance to see NKOTBSB. When Jordan and Joey sang If you go away, the place went nuts. Then Joey sang the opening to Please Don't Go Girl and we lost our voices 😂🤣 Great times

My #1 would be Baby I Believe In You. My most favorite love ballad of all time. Ballad is like a romantic movie, candles, champagne, Mercedes-Benz S-Class & romantic walk on the beach at sunset. When I first met Jordan Knight in person at 2007 Woodstock Fair in South Woodstock,Connecticut on 9/2/07 he told me that the tattoo of him shirtless on a paradise beach at sunset on my right upper bicep reminded him of his favorite New Kids On The Block song Baby I Believe In You & I told that was also my favorite as well

I was a huge NKOTB fan back in the day. If cell phones and social media had existed back then, I think they would have had even bigger success than they did, which I can't even imagine.
Mj King the Beatles had more and more success without social media 😂
I mean considering that they packed stadiums and had to do multiple shows in each location, and were swarmed by thousands of fans in each city around the globe, and sold millions of albums, I'd say they were just as successful as BSB, *Nsync, or One Direction (they also had 3 Billboard #1 hits in an era where steaming and social media wasn't involved).

Mariah Pacheco 💖💜💖 well said !!
Mariah Pacheco don’t diss NSYNC. The real boy and we should be dissing is one direction. They don’t even dance or harmonize.
Omg! NKOTB, BSB, & N'SYNC so much alike because Maurice Starr helped them all out at some point in their careers.
Nkotb is the best
Yeah, in general I thought it was a decent countdown, but I caught the snide remarks that seemed to accompany just about every entry on the list. Its 2018 and Jordan Knight is still ♥
My #1 would be Baby I Believe In You.
