Honestly Marco is a chef you can just listen to with anything, enjoyed watching his cooking masterclasses and these clips here, show how appreciative and supporting he is of people.
A king does not have to say he's king. Marco is the embodiment of this idea. He doesn't need to shout or demand attention. He's just there and you know it. Regardless of how his past was, at this age, he's transcended another level of... presence. Also, unlike his past, he seems to have a lot more empathy. He knows who is feeling what.
The Legendary Mentor who trained the Legendary Gordon Ramsay. Yes! He's Marco Pierre White, the real freaking deal and Master Jedi of the Culinary World! Legend!
Not a scary man, he wants others to excel, he does not humiliate but passes on his knowledge and passion with passion. He had your back. I would feel honored to learn from him and beg for his honesty.
this guy just radiates "genius" energy, he's just so overwhelmingly intimidating when just standing still, yet he's so calm and gentle, let alone how humble he is, when one of his first lines is "I don't expect you to know me" when being the literal pinnacle of culinary art, when people describe being able to feel somebodies presence he is exactly what I think of, he feels like he's 12 foot tall but like he brings people up to the clouds instead of going down to their level, just unbelievable edit: "happy chefs cook happy food" wow hearing that from this GIANT of a genius is so heartwarming
Marco is sure quite a bit theatrical, but I love his approach. The man knows he's too next-level for shouting and throwing fits, his hard stare alone is intimidating enough. But he also knows when to stop pressing and give a little encouragement.
I love how Marco’s fiddling around with all the food when the presenters talk to the contestants at their stations, you can see he really adheres to his philosophy of being as in touch and personal with the ingredients as you can
If Gordon is a white shark,Marco is megaladon. What a person. He didn’t make me cry,it was my choice to cry. Such an inspirational human. His quotes are so simple yet precise, just as chief’s knife
"If you look at my hand, what do you see? You see a palm. I see four knuckles. We're looking at the same thing but we see something very different. Never allow the obvious to blind you." Gosh I love the way he said this.
One thing I've always felt from Marco is that yes, he's intimidating as hell but he never abuses his power. He's really a gentle soul and I can feel that even from watching videos of him. I can definitely see how Gordon picked that up.
Dayum. *Less than 3mins in* & already soooo much wisdom, profundity, & awesomeness! Including 2 of the greatest quotes (certainly pertaining to cooking) I've *ever* heard. In the first 3 minutes!!
Really interesting. You can tell where and who Gordon Ramsey learned a lot of his knowledge and skill and style from. But the biggest difference is approach. Gordon just pushes…without hesitation. Marco always “asks” first before he pushes. Such a difference in style. Granted it’s a show but their pushing and “tempers” when cooking is real and I sense that Marco gains just a tad more positive morale and respect from his cooks.
"When a student is ready the Master appears." Marco is epitome of a veteran and a leader. He doesn't has to affirm authority, because the man whole demeanor demands respect. Also teaches and gives great advice's, tips which you can actually apply in any aspects of life.
I'm starting to understand what people mean when they say someone's got a certain presence. He certainly has one, and it is much more intimidating than anything I've ever seen in my life.
Many people that come across as intimidating are very kind underneath it all. I once worked for NFL great Art Donovan. He had a great sense of humor, but to employees he seemed to be very gruff. He actually was a big sweet teddy bear. I enjoy working with people like Marco and Art. They truly care about and want for you to be your best.
The algorithm suggested this video for me, despite never looking for anything cooking related. I clicked it for the background noise, i got stuck, watched several more Marco videos, got a used book of him for about 4€, and now, 2 months, later I'm already a way better home cook. And the most important: cooking finally became fun!

Honestly, it’s easy to be intimidated by Marco. He’s the man who made Gordon Ramsay into who he is today. He’s the youngest chef to win 3 Michelin stars, then give them back. This man is the real deal. He’s probably forgotten more than we’ll ever know. What’s even worse is he has this calm anger which is far more scary than Gordon’s yelling.
We are lucky enough today to have so many great chefs like Gordon Ramsay , Heston Blumenthal , Rene Redzepi etc etc.. we were also lucky to have greats like Michel Roux , Anthony Bourdain etc etc but we are extremely blessed to have Marco. There will never be someone like him. He transcended all other chefs not only because of his food but because of his outlook on life , his Philosophy his ambitions that drove him and he shares that. Blessed are we who have intelligence enough to absorb that. Seeing this video and how he motivates people , raises them up , helps them grow , gives them confidence even when they have none is something beyond amazing and feels super wonderful. Something like that can only be achieved by someone like Marco.
I love marco, i admire him so much. He just wants everyone to be the best version they can and to be truly honest with themselves in what they do. He is remarkable 😊.

Many people say he is intimidating and I get that. This man seems like a shark, but he seems also as inspiring as intimidating. If not way more inspiring. You hear this man talk and you immediately notice that this guy knows what he is talking about and that you will learn so much about cooking and yourself as a cook if you keep listening to him.
I've worked with people who have Marco's kind of presence and it is absolutely intimidating. Most people tend to deflate and underestimate themselves. Some people go the opposite direction and puff out their chest. The trick is to just trust yourself and treat them like any other person. Set your sights on doing the best you can and learning no matter the outcome.
Imposes intimidation, puts fear into people, instils discipline but understands the limit of that fear where going too far into terror inhibits a chefs ability to think, focus, compose oneself and ultimately, cook. The second he saw that woman falling apart in terror of his presence, he softened with a few encouraging words to placate that terror & snapped her back to her senses and realise she only need fear him as a head chef, not as a teacher, not as a human being. That is the sign of a great leader, and in all honesty, a good father!
Marco is the absolute real deal Classic Chéf, he uplifts, criticize & instructs you to make the best out of yourself - all at the same time, it's remarkable! I would be delighted and honored to work for and learn from him!
I like how he is "scary" and intimidating, but he's also supportive, and you can see the kindness in his eyes. You can tell that he Wants them to succeed.
Marco is the only Chef i can relate to with how he chooses his words, analogies, and outlook. I'm a visual artist (not a hobby, its my living and I take it extremely seriously) and I've been suprised to learn how cooking and the arts (hence culinary wrestling I suppose!) overlap in soooo many ways, its really quite beautiful.
It's hilarious how much Marco Pierre White reminds me of Anthony Hopkins. He literally gives off the demeanor of Hannibal Lector, that's why everyone finds him intimidating.

Legend!

"Never allow the obvious to blind you, look at it for what it is" - Marco Pierre White
Marco is like a friendly dragon. Love him!
Not a scary man, he wants others to excel, he does not humiliate but passes on his knowledge and passion with passion. He had your back. I would feel honored to learn from him and beg for his honesty.
this guy just radiates "genius" energy, he's just so overwhelmingly intimidating when just standing still, yet he's so calm and gentle, let alone how humble he is, when one of his first lines is "I don't expect you to know me" when being the literal pinnacle of culinary art, when people describe being able to feel somebodies presence he is exactly what I think of, he feels like he's 12 foot tall but like he brings people up to the clouds instead of going down to their level, just unbelievable
edit: "happy chefs cook happy food" wow hearing that from this GIANT of a genius is so heartwarming
Marco is sure quite a bit theatrical, but I love his approach. The man knows he's too next-level for shouting and throwing fits, his hard stare alone is intimidating enough. But he also knows when to stop pressing and give a little encouragement.
I love how Marco’s fiddling around with all the food when the presenters talk to the contestants at their stations, you can see he really adheres to his philosophy of being as in touch and personal with the ingredients as you can
"Mother nature is the true artist."
That man is both terrifying and inspiring at the same time.
If Gordon is a white shark,Marco is megaladon. What a person. He didn’t make me cry,it was my choice to cry. Such an inspirational human. His quotes are so simple yet precise, just as chief’s knife
Marco is prowling around that panicking girl just enough, so the right amount of fear-tears gives the lobster the right amount of salt.
Idk why but I laughed a bit too hard at this. I stopped the video and all to keep laughing
"Couldn't you of just told me to add regular salt?"
"Oh my no. It had to be fear salt!"
Pretty good
"Don't force it, make it. Sensational" Gave me goosebumps
Marco gives me goosebumps when he encourages the chefs. He is on another level of leadership. He is the epitome of a master chef.
"If you look at my hand, what do you see? You see a palm. I see four knuckles. We're looking at the same thing but we see something very different. Never allow the obvious to blind you."
Gosh I love the way he said this.
Marco gives many compliments, which gives hope. That is very pleasant to watch!
One thing I've always felt from Marco is that yes, he's intimidating as hell but he never abuses his power. He's really a gentle soul and I can feel that even from watching videos of him. I can definitely see how Gordon picked that up.
10:34 “Lets do the job. SERVICE SEND IT!”
*ROCK MUSIC INTENSIFIES*
He's simply the Shakespeare of Cooking. A true General of the ages. So Elite, yet so grounded, it almost defies belief.
Dayum. *Less than 3mins in* & already soooo much wisdom, profundity, & awesomeness!
Including 2 of the greatest quotes (certainly pertaining to cooking) I've *ever* heard.
In the first 3 minutes!!
The moment with the ‘bisque’ correction was killing me lol. Marco can be a very funny guy despite his sometimes rough exterior.
Marco present is straight up intimidating. But he has heart of gold to encourage contenders.
I really admire him, he's the type of a mentor that even if he's so scary, i'll stay...
They're both Idiots to work for!
To be fair this is older Marco, younger Marco was probably a lot more brash.
@@willsk3122 yeah hes become more patient and kind in his old age. Young Marco was like a ice-storm, ferocious and chilling to the bone.
He speaks like a 10,000 year old vampire who is now a cook.
Thats what happens when you are brave and wise. Bravery is very rare.
he is probably lol
Good one
Lol!
So this is what Dracula's been up to these days
He's doing what a true leader should do. Inspire not downgrading. Bravo Marco! La leggenda continua...
27:24 the closeup on Marcos face as he’s shouting “WHERES MY KINGFISH WHERES MY KINGFISH” is hysterical
The Australian equivalent of “WHERE’S THE LAMB SAUCE?!”

Damn props to the editing team for adding that aweome rock tune at 10:37 to push the tempo
He is literally the final boss of cooking.
Noo Gordon is. Marco lost his Mojo

He has such a presence that people start having anxiety attacks just from him standing there
We are lucky enough today to have so many great chefs like Gordon Ramsay , Heston Blumenthal , Rene Redzepi etc etc.. we were also lucky to have greats like Michel Roux , Anthony Bourdain etc etc but we are extremely blessed to have Marco.
Good heavens! The reference of seeing the hand from different angles brought tears to my eyes... what a level of professionalism!
I love marco, i admire him so much. He just wants everyone to be the best version they can and to be truly honest with themselves in what they do.
He is remarkable 😊.
Imagine your presence in a room having such a profound effect on others. Like Marco doesn't even have to say anything, he just peruses around the room and people are terrified 😂 absolute legend
His words are like instant tear jerkers. I swear he's the dad everyone needs
Marco stares at you like he is about to extract your soul just with his eyes.
Tracy and Marco P were so wholesome like a father reassuring a daughter
It's hilarious how much Marco Pierre White reminds me of Anthony Hopkins. He literally gives off the demeanor of Hannibal Lector, that's why everyone finds him intimidating.
Marco was pure theatre!
Magnificent theatre!
A chef a rebel a contrarian and a mentor.
Watching this again - so many years after the original - demonstrates what great TV can be.
With Busqou dead, and Jiro at 97 years of age, Marco is *literally* the worlds most prodigious name in cooking. Yes Jiro has him beat, and gods save us from the day when Jiro is gone. But Marco is alive and kicking across the globe. Thank the stars for that: Humanity desperately needs more of his ilk.
I was waiting for "WHERE'S MY KINGFISH?" and at 27:24, there it was. So satisfying.
I surely cannot by the only guy bringing back Marco Piere White.
How amazing that the two greatest cooks in the world are named Mr. White!
The biggest mistake contestants made was not using Knorr stock pots and cubes to season their food, but I can't fault them because it was their choice.
😂
9:16 love that Marco can admit that he can be corrected.
I agree, but I don’t understand the words Marco is saying just before she defines “bisque”
@@dh4767 Marco asked, "do you think people know what bisque is?"
@@dh4767 "Chowder or Bisque." They're both soups.
@@jandreid2023 and she replies, “A French restaurant”
What’s the point she made that Marco didn’t see before?
@@dh4767 Marco asked her what she's calling her dish. She said "it's a bisque". Marco then asked her if diners would understand what a bisque is, instead of calling her dish a chowder. She said "Yes, this is a French restaurant"; implying that people who go in would most likely know French food and therefore know what a bisque is.
Feels like I'm watching a crying compilation... no wonder Gordon cried, probably not because of Marco's yelling but his intimidating presence
