    I wrote it down to get it right and still got it wrong. Dirk Wedd is the former Lawrence High coach, not Dick Weld, which is the worst porn name ever.

      That's hilarious. I went on a sales call once and the guy I was meeting with name was Richard Head.

    I was a little surprised by the indignation expressed by many of the KU Twitter community because Kansas State fans were critical of these criminal actions. Just try to imagine their reactions if someone were to steal and attempt to sell their, “Take heed all ye who enter here…” banner.

      Let's just be truthful here. KU doesn't operate with morals. They've been cheating and covering up athletic scandals for years. Their athletic dept. drives it and their fans condone it, so of course they'd be ok with theft. One big cesspool of liars and cheaters.

      If indeed there are KU fans on "X" who are protesting your reactions to Dick Wedd's actions, then shame on them. This is one of the rare times where we KU fans should be joining forces with you KSU fans and demanding that the banner be returned.

    What are we doing letting this go so easy? To me, this is a new piece of lore in the ku vs ksu rivalry. We should not let this go, like its a Bill Self recruiting violation! These damn birds disrespect us for 60 years and we just let it go?! Give me a break. Rally around the banner! EMAW! Go State! I want banner revenge!!!

    Great story, This cold morning i'm taken back to my youth and many great times in Ahearn. Chickens flying, the roaring of the crowd, bleachers rumbling, maybe even the tackling of a Jayhawk on the court lol. EMAW! Thanks Fitz

      @badsultan1086 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Jayhawk was actually tackled in year 2 of Bramlage.

      @badsultan1086 Willie did skits in Ahearn too. The best one was in 1988 before the Oklahoma game when Willie in a jogging suit had someone roll a Tonka truck at him to knock him down. Earlier in the year Billy Tubbs had been hit by a car while jogging. I think Billy took it in good nature with his usual smirk.

    • @nathanwood8256
      @nathanwood8256 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes your right. I was thinking it was Ahearn but guess it was Bramlage. I think it was a girl in the Jayhawk costume that got tackled by a drunk student. I was at the game. @@badsultan1086

      I attended many a games at Ahearn Fieldhouse to watch Rolando Blackmon, Jari Wills (RIP), Ed Nealy, Mitch Richmond, Tim Jankovich, etc. play and beat KU many times. The great Ted Owens was the coach back then and for any team who had to come to Ahearn, it must have been intimidating as heck. The fans were just a few feet from the playing floor. I loved every minute there.

    Reminds me of the story from 1955 when some KU students kidnapped K-State's wildcat mascot, Touchdown (I don't remember which number, it might have been Touchdown VI) before the football game. I'm not sure if Touchdown bit any of them, but karma bit the Smurf Chickens hard that year. K-State absolutely mauled KU, 46-0 on the road! The thieving students returned Touchdown during the game, but the damage was already done. It was K-State's biggest win in the series before the 54-6 win in 1998.

    It's one thing to steal a banner from a rival school as a prank. It's something else to try and sell stolen property. The banner needs to be sent back to KSU - and I say this as a Jayhawk fan.

  • @ntnsty
    @ntnsty ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Give it back Dick. No hard feelings. It’s basically only worth something because you took it and preserved it, so thanks for that. Now please hand it over. It belongs in Ahern with an occasional visit to Bramlage IMO.

    Probably couldn't charge him with theft due to statue of limitations, but potentially for attempting to sell a stolen item since that was what sleepy happened recently, though I'm not exactly sure how it would end up working out since I'm not a lawyer

    Fitz, please keep us up to date on this, if and when K-State gets the banner back, etc. Finally, was it Wedd or Weld who has the banner, as I am a bit confused on the notes below?

    As intimidating as Ahearn Fieldhouse was at the end with the rather generic Kansas State University banner that had replaced it, the intimidation factor was at a pinnacle when the Every Man A Wildcat! banner was on prominent display.
    Much like 'Beware of the pHog' which it preceded, an opposing player walks into an alternate reality where they are no longer in Kansas.

    When I saw this on Twitter, it ticked me off. Cool prank... Give Dirk an A+ for that, but Dirk also gets an F in judgment for trying to sell stolen property - a felony in Kansas BTW. Hello... KBI? I have an anonymous tip for you... or - like Fitz said, just return it and the story will be a cool one for the K-State ages. Life is full of choices Dirk Wedd. Make the right one.

    • @smitty1
      @smitty1 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the statute of limitations for felony theft is 5 years, but there is a provision that it doesn't begin until people realize that a crime has taken place. You'd need a lawyer to explain what that means in practice, but potentially if no one ever reported it as a theft to police back when it went missing, maybe it could be argued that the time only starts now? Or maybe not, and it going missing is all you need, I'm not sure.
      Regardless, it seems unlikely to end in a court case.
