anyone know how to remove that check valve in the aluminum without destroying it with a drywall screw? I know they say to just replace the check but I was successful in fixing 2 in the pump body. Really like to fix the one in the aluminum body.
If you do a few of them Walboro makes a tool kit. I have a 500-500 which has apparently been replaced by 500-538. There are aftermarket clones of the tool kit for less, but I don’t know about the quality. Comes with a punch that is pushed into the center of a check valve to rock it out, and another little slide hammer puller for other styles, along with a chisel to remove welsh plugs, punches to seat new welsh plug, punches to install new check valves, and the W to set the metering lever height.

I’ve never really bought any check valves at least not yet. People usually drop off broken equipment, I throw it in a junkyard and retrieve it from there. Hope this answers your question👍

I bought a 9 piece Hollow Punch set from Harbor Freight and used a ( New) Metering Diaphragm (rubber) as a sacrificial piece and it works . I used a 3/32 punch but a 1/8 works as well. Its AWESOME!! WE CAN MAKE OUR OWN CHECK VALVES NOW!! READY FOR THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!!!
@@DonDon-ee1uf remove the old check valve. Theres a black rubber disc or in most cases a crumb of a disc. Just use your punch tool and make one that fits. Using any new metering diaphragm.
