The Epic of Gilgamesh is if I remember correctly one of the earliest written stories ever to be preserved and translated by archeologists. It was written on stone tablets.
Not "one of", it is the *oldest* recorded epic in human history. The Epic of Gilgamesh is considered to be the first legend with no writing before it surviving to this day.
Yeah what the guy above me said. Since The Epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest piece of fiction on Earth that also makes him the oldest and the first hero of humanity which is why he calls himself the king of heroes
The Gilgamesh/ Kirei conversation is sometimes hard to grasp outside the novel. Basically episodes ago Kirei told Gilgamesh that joy and happiness was sinful and Gilgamesh latched onto that mentally. Gilgamesh understand from that statement that subconsciously Kireis joy and happiness must be tied to something sinful and that Kirei must be repressing himself. Gilgameshs goal here is to help Kirei find his true personality and that his true nature would provide Gilgamesh with entertainment.
Another solid reaction ladies. The thing with Zero, is that it is a very philosophical style anime, so there will be a lot of conflicting theories, thoughts, emotions...and a lot of dialogue. Don't worry, action is about to heat up. I also think you'd both enjoy Fate Babylonia (shirtless Gilgamesh is always wonderful) because it delves more into the lore and history of the characters, rather than the mechanics of a Grail War.
YES! the philosophical views in this anime just made it to one of my favorite anime of all time. especially episode 16! The clash of ideology between Saber and Kiritsugu!
The Assassin you saw in this show was just 1 physical person in life, the ability to become an entire group of people is like Rider summoning his army anywhere he wants, something they got after becoming Heroic Spirits as a manifestation of the myths and legends about them. Pretty much any Assassin you'll see in the franchise with a white skull mask and dressed in black is one of the different generation leaders of their clan, they get the position by coming up with their own original miraculous killing method/technique. The Assassin from this show won the position by the recognition of his ability to pretty much completely change into other people which was honed from having multiple personalities, becoming a Heroic Spirit basically manifested the ability into a Noble Phantasm with literal bodies for each personality.
How so? If I'm not mistaken, last root of original VN explains this assasin as all of the disciples and successors of Hassan, who always stayed cowered, unknown and assumed same personality, thus becoming single Servant. Not one person with multiple personalities.
@@Uaroth that explanation fits more with the Hashashin order as a whole and not to this particular summoned Assassin. The "Single Servant" referring more to how when Assassins like Hundred Face or Cursed Arm get summoned, they are all just treated of as "Hassan, The Leader of the Hashashin Order" and not "Hundred Face Hassan" or "Cursed Arm Hassan". It was really more of an impactful thing early into the franchises life when all the Assassin heroic spirit were supposed to just be "Hassan" and Fake Assassin was meant to be a huge rule break, but they kind of let go of that concept in later material.

fun bit about the holy grail war...you can summon any historical or fictional person as long as you have something that is linked to them, the possibilities are dumb and busted lmao
@@skarletfenrir6979 When a "hero" dies, he/she enters the Throne of Heroes. From there, he/she is no longer affected by time and can be summoned from any period in time (as it's not really this hero that is summoned, but rather a "clone" : if a servant is summoned in several HGW, he will not have memories that is not from before his death and the information given by the "actualization of knowledge" from the HG).

@@murat8401 While you’re correct, Japan has a much larger Christian influence than Islam so it’s unlikely that would be their view. Also, Solomon wasn’t a prophet btw. Just a king.

Heroes in Fate literally draw power from their fame. Gilgamesh is the first hero. This is part of why he’s so strong.
This conversation between Gilgamesh and Kirei is my favorite moment of the show 100%.

It was briefly mentioned last episode, but Assassin had multiple personalities, and their NP gave them a body for each one.

I’ll admit I geeked out a little bit seeing the Emiya house in this episode. I saw UBW before this, so it was exciting to me.
If Jesus did get summoned by the Grail, I assume he’d fall under the category of Ruler. Either that or a Caster if he has to be one of the main 7

2:31 LMAOOOOO
were all other episodes nuked? Can we have a timer version ;(
Next episode is also a build up for battle of river Mion (beginning of season 2).
Jesus is God and they cannot call upon Servants that have full Divinity. Only half Divine people in mythos like Gilgamesh or Hercules.
Or they can use the vessel summoning like Ishtar and other gods
In type moon lore Jesus might have been a mage who possessed the first true magic
Jesus' stories differ tho, in islam he's just a prophet just like Solomon
