I have flown this Model since it came out...had no issues at all with the default planes landings. same with the DC-3... Because I have flown both in real life, I was amazed how close it was to the real thing. I can't wait to see the new mods for them. Both are the most fun to fly, in both VFR and IFR flying. Sound is outstanding. I usually am totally imersed in just minutes. Thanks for sharing!
Hey, thanks for reaching out! You should try the Denarq mod from flightsim.to for the 18, total overhaul of the oil system, engine wear added, they really did a lot of work.
Wow-nicely done! Agreed, the Denarq modded Beech 18 is great fun! As you explained well, the engines must be carefully managed. Very immersive and very satisfying! Thanks for the oil by-pass tip; I‘ve been increasing the sim rate to shorten warm-up wait time and then returning to normal rate when they’re ready.
I haven’t had nearly the time I’d hoped to fly that plane lately, it is SO much fun! I’ve really gotten interested in the golden era airplanes lately. This one is absolutely fantastic! Thanks for reaching out!
Wow, did not think about standing on the brakes in the Beech! A few more feet and you would have no choice but to stand on them. I thought you had plenty of room to stop. But it ain't no Islander. And to make things more interesting, low visibility! Fun and nice flight.
Im not on SU15 beta but on Su14 i onky get the Dx12 bleed through tile problem when i switch to an external or drone camera. Cant say ive noticed it happen if i stay in the cockpit
@@IslandSimPilot but does it happen if you do not use an external camera view? All videos I see on the issue are not in the cockpit. I appreciate after the textures bleed through that switching back to cockpit view doesnt help but on my system the problem only actually appears if I change camera to an external one. I need Dx 12 for the frame gen mod. One way to restore them is to switch to drone view and move the camera up to a high altitude then when the normal textures reappear press 5 on the numpad to bring the camera straight back down

@@IslandSimPilot I am italian from Siena, Tuscany, but I live in Switzerland since I was 25 years old. I am now a retired 67 years old architect. I fly from LSZL Locarno airport, mostly gliders that are my deep love. Of course when on holydays we fly GA all around Europe. Italy, France, Greece, Croazia and sometimes to the north.
You don't really gain much with DX12, so I just stick with DX11 until they fix the DX12 issues. That said, if you want a nice taildragger with a round engine look at the Carenado Waco YMF-5. It's a lot of fun to fly low and slow.
Terrific video. Can you address the installation of the Denarq mod where it says delete state.cfg file? Does this apply only to the Carenado Local legend Beech 18? Thanks for your time and effort in producing this video; I wanted to get the BE18 when it was released but was not impressed with Carenado version. I was unaware of Denarq mod until your video, excited to try this!
You're going to love it, the mod is awesome. I didn't delete that state.cfg file until after a few flights, I missed that note. You literally just delete that file from the install folder. I think what that does is gives you state saving, in other words oil level and such will be continuious from one flight to the next. Let me know if that answers you question.
I love the D-18 with the Denarq mod. It has become my go-to when I just wanna have a relaxing, fun flight in a classic radial-engined twin. Which is alot! I have a ton of aircraft for MSFS, but I fly this one more than any of them.
@islandsimpilot Devs do have to opt in to take advantage of the new ground handling physics in SU15. Today, Fenix indicated that they will be adjusting the A320 to make use of it.
Wow, a nice exiting flight with a beautiful airplane but (sorry to say) this is rather not my type 🤷♂️. Anyway I like it when you fly this bird. Keep ‘em coming.
I did ask on the denarq mod forum about taxing at idle and I was told you're supposed to taxi with the fuel pumps on to stop the engines cutting out vs keeping the power up and riding the brakes. I think the taxi checklist does call for them to be on during taxi.
Yeah, it says the fuel booster pumps should be on, but that you should have the throttles at 1300 RPM. Hmmm. Is this a Discord server where the forum is? I still have a lot to learn about this plane but it is a BLAST to fly.

Good thing MS was mindful enough to delay the release of SU15. Hopefully they get the tile issue sorted by the end of the month!
It is HORRIBLE in SU15.

Another few feet and the sand wold have stopped me LOL
Also when you finish your flight remember it's advised to run the engines over the generator RPM for a few minutes to recharge the batteries.

Does the REX texture fix the ground tiling around airports?
Here comes more fuck ups and bugs 😂
Somehow the cockpit looks foggy, not clear. I would have trouble reading these instruments.

I had at least two!! :)
Wow that was close!
Couldn't you have put your feet out on the landing like we did on our pushbikes years ago 🤣

Do you feel anything different with update on the landing?
For sure, much more able to control the airplane on touchdown, it doesn't swerve instantly on the ground.
