I love that you used the grunts as transitions, I also love that those grunts make less sense in context than out of context
The way you portrayed Julia acting as if she just found out about quarantine was my favorite

"You know what a rectangle is?" gets me every time because my first exposure to Jacob & Julia's gaming stream was one of the "We Were Here" videos, in which they display EXTRAORDINARY patience and goodwill while screwing up a team maze about 30 times in a row. No sass to speak of. But the minute parallelograms show up, man, you better w a t c h o u t.
that’s one of my fave streams, especially the very first one because of a) the trucker accents with the walkie talkies and b) they hadn’t announced that they were dating yet and kept referring to each other as “friend” almost constantly, and in hindsight very pointedly and obviously, which they later said was an inside joke they always did in their content just for them during that time

the "Can't go to Universal studios" clip and the "Do you know what a rectangle is" clip right after each other made me think of the compilation "Things that crack Nathan up" and I now wish that one would be animated as well, just 10 or so minutes of pure Nathan joy

Ok. I want that. One of the best ones has already been used by DBI. The one where Nathan was so out of breath, he did a triple gasp for air because of laughing so hard.

I laughed SO HARD when Jacob said, to his girlfriend of many years, "Do you know what a rectangle IS?" And I just laughed so hard that my sides hurt to see it drawn here. Also, smart call to use Julia's, "Urreahp" sound for the smash cuts. A special treat for the fans who've watched the New Yorker episode.
I cannot BELIEVE there was no warning for Appallingly Flat Newman /j (This is super good and the animation really just elevates the jokes even further! I’ll be watching this on repeat for the next week thank you)

As someone who just put together a pretty cheap desk that was missing some of the holes pre-drilled into it that were on the instructions, this recontextualization of "Do you know what a rectangle is?" really spoke to me.
Ok, now rewatching, I just noticed how excited Jacob is about Willem Dafoe playing Waliugi hahaha, he's been dreaming about this for so long

Julia finding out there’s a quarantine is probably one of my favorite Drawfee bits ever. The delivery of “Cuz of the WHAT” kills me every time
“Do you know what a rectangle is” might be the sickest burn in Drawfee history. It’s so perfectly condescending; like Jacob actually thinks Julia might not know what rectangle is
my fav aspect of the "do you know what a rectangle is?" bit is that, while that is great on its own, the next video is the legendary "julia is this BLENDER?!?" video. she didn't take too kindly to that comment, jacob!!! haha

Around 0:50, I was thinking "I should go and watch that compilation of Julia pretending not to know things again. 'Cause of the what?!' just kills me." And then not 5 seconds later, you have that bit.
It's so so good and I've been on the cusp of animating it for aaages

Watching these videos makes me realize that Nathan is always 3000% down to sing and I love it.
That Karina as Newman bit actually made me choke. I was expecting it and yet.. still...
What a marvelous showcase. Most of these bits were accidental or improvised, but my favorite has to be Julia’s perfectly planned and executed joke at 0:56, followed by Nathan trying not to die from laughter.

I love everything about this. Julia pretending not to know about quarantine is also one of my favourite bits, and you did it so much justice. I love all the little background details you put in all your animations too, plus the one panel comic sound as the transition between bits was an awesome touch. Nice work and thanks for making this!

I love how snappy yet smooth your animation is. Like how characters will very quickly move between poses and pause on them, but it still looks/feels like fluid movement. It's great.

I love any moment where someone just says, "What?" Be it a silent confused what, a disappointed what, or a loud incredulous what. They're all so good.
The way you animate perfectly encapsulates the wicked energy of drawfee bits. Well done, impeccable work! It's always fun to rewatch them in a new context

It took a couple of viewings to work out why Willem Defoe was so weird to me; it's because he's coloured in like an actual person instead of a block colour with no distinction between head and hair

I like to think it is a little glimpse into the Julia/Jacob relationship, like he is just trying to give her instructions on something so simple at home and she is just like "huh". I like to imagine he then is like" this is the whole'youknowwhatarectangle'is all over again!

I've seen this animation upwards of a dozen times, and I'm still noticing new stuff. The bit with Julia pretending not to know about the quarantine, the other three are wearing masks, and you could've taken that as a way out of having to animate their mouths moving, but I just noticed the faint lines of their mouths moving behind the masks!! Truly incredible; I can't wait to watch this a dozen more times and find more stuff I still haven't noticed. All the work you put into these details... fantastic

God these are amazing, I love how you translate some of these bits into original little scenes
I come back to this video pretty often when I need to laugh and I ALWAYS forget about the crunchy Newman JPEG until it shows up and it ALWAYS makes me howl
When Nathan laughes out loud, I always imagine he's throwing himself to the ground sideways backwards, as if his laughs are too powerful to maintain stance.
I love the spin that 'you know what a rectangle is' involves building IKEA furniture except it's two chairs (two beers not included).
The very last frame of this video makes it look like flat newman is the patreon supporter being thanked 🤣 (also I love all your animations they bring me such joy)

I had to subtly bully him SOMEHOW
You know, thinking about it, Jacob gets razzed so often and Nathan and Karina occasionally get razzed, but the only time I can think of that Julia got razzed* was the "You know what a rectangle is?" Like, even when she draws Pokemon in crazy ways, I would argue she still doesn't really get razzed. Comments, feel free to correct me and tell me all the times where Julia got razzed that I'm forgetting about.
*Excluding Drawtectives, where you could argue she did sometimes get razzed indirectly, like with the butt-cloud thing.
Maybe when she drew a digimon? But I'd like to hear any examples too ❤️
Drawing Fruit Dragons, Jacob calls Julia’s ground line amateurish and it’s funny.
Then, in Drawing More Cocktail Characters, Nathan says his mum was offended by it and Jacob does it again by saying that the context was that Julia always does such good backgrounds, which is why it was funny that one was so horrible. Those comments and Julia responding with her deliberately amateurish hills I always found really funny.
Drawing More Cocktail Characters also brings up Julia’s inability to draw eggs, which might count as something she’s razzed about because it comes up a fair bit lol.
When Julia makes a joke or reference they have to decode then that often leads to a bit of razzing too. I love those jokes of hers.
I think they playfully tease her a bit for drawing backgrounds for character design challenges or for going to way more effort than she needed to for some challenges.
Can’t wait for the part 2 of the Jacob and Julia construct IKEA furniture episode where they finally construct the 2 beers to go along with those chairs.
