Glad you got it to work! I messed with float hight, jetting and never could get mine to run properly. Just had to stick a plug in snorkel and drill holes till it ran right lol
No I never did.. if I did I would just blow it out and if it got into the crankcase your oil would be a little Milky.. then I would just change oil until it’s clean again
I couldn’t tell ya, I would go to a hardware store and get 1/4, 5/16, and maybe 3/8 hose and you should be able to do the whole machine. It’s been so long, I just stock everything in my garage so I always have it. Never even look anymore what sizes I use lol
For anyone building a snorkle on a big bear go at least 2 inch pipe, make sure you save the factory air box intake tube. I used the factory tube at the inlet for the snorkel, it almost completely fixed my bog problem.
@@peytonmccosco5712 I think the 1.5 is too restricted for too long or something, I had both and I just felt like the 2 inch worked a little better. If you've already built the snorkel out of 1.5 just try putting a piece of tape over half the inlet and see if it still bogs. The real secret is that the snorkel needs a certain amount of restriction so the air flows properly. The factory rubber intake is the perfect restriction if you still have it.
@@Zach-ju5vi I don’t have a big bear 400 I wanted to buy a Kodiak 400 for the low gear and I was told they had almost the same exact airbox so you’re saying just keep the little piece on and run the rest 2 inch
So I used 2 inch PVC all the way up and I still had to put a plastic plug cap in the end of the snorkel and then drill holes in it until I got it to run right. So if anything I would used 1.5 inch hose lol. The big bears don't need a lot of air to run. And I even put a bigger main jet in it and still had to restrict the air intake like I just said.
All I can remember is that it was a 2'' ID PVC that I used all the way up. I sold this bad boy 2 1/2 years ago so I can remember every detail. Sorry. But I am watching market place waiting for another BigBear deal close to me.
Yea mine used to do that also, heck my grizzly and Rzr do that also, as long as it isn’t excessive I would say it’s normal for anything to do it a little going down hill
well if you want it bad enough you can do anything, but putting two on would mean drilling/cutting an additional hole in the airbox and that might get to messy. One is all you need for a 400cc engine
Is there a step by step vid somewhere? It’s me my mom and little brother so I don’t have much help and still learning. I’m fourteen lol. If not could someone direct me to one?
Hey man just wondering, why didnt you just shoot out the right side with the snorkel rather than coming out the left side? Any reason in particular? I have mine out the left side and only used 2 90's
I was wondering the same thing mine stays on the right side. For some reason mine has a low end wide open bog seems like bad air flow but maybe I just need a reducer at the inlet.
@@Zach-ju5vi I had the exact same problem! I went with a 2 and a half inch pipe from box to the end! I had it pinched off at the box to 1 and 3/4 and it turns out that was the bog! I found out the bigger the better as long as it's right through! Dont pinch it off at any point!
What axles are you using for your big bear? I'm starting an 03 big bear build and am going to run 30" silverbacks and looking for front axles to throw in. Thanks man and love the videos!
I just ran stock axles. Had two spares just in case but never broke one. The bigbear didn't have enough power to break em. I mean there the same size axles as in my 2012 Grizz 700.
Awesome video
Glad it helped someone! Thank you for watching!
I have same set up. I raised up the clip on needle on top of the carburetor to get more fuel for the 2 inch intake pipe

Have you ever gotten water in your cylinder vent hose...and if so what did you do about it.

What size vent hoses do I need for front and rear diff, carb and the breather on top of the motor

I was told to use a 2-1/2” hose from like a vacuum or something but I ain’t even got my project bought yet

Thank you sir!
what size is the connector to the airbox

Very useful video your underrated you deserve a sub and a like
Hey thank you sir!

Was this big bear the 4wd?
Yes it was
How mamy vents have
If I remember right it was 4
I have the same color 2000 BB400 runs great. Low hours old man kept. It backfire a little going down hills. Yours? Any ideas?

I was never able to find one when I built this snorkel... it did take me multiple trips to town to finally put the puzzle together lol
U should put a ball joint pvc so u could control the air flow (it helps a lot)

Really no reason lol... just how I did it.. the less 90s the better air flow for sure though

Yea them damn carb's are picky. Make sure the inlet is the same size as stock otherwise she will run funny
Can’t see crap
Sorry about that

You might be able to find some demon axles they are decent.
