- The Palisades Fire, the most destructive wildfire in Los Angeles history, edged closer to one of the city’s major population centers on Friday: the San Fernando Valley. Sky5 footage showed the fire’s northern flank burning toward Mulholland Drive in the Santa Monica Mountains, where aerial firefighting crews have dropped slurry lines in hopes of halting the fire’s northern progress. We just had our beautiful Grampians National Park burn. It is still burning today, but now under control after 3 weeks & 76,000 hectres. 46 homes and many outbuildings. Most hard hit the animals😢

Who remembers the August Complex fire back in 2020? The biggest fire in California history which burned 1,032,648 acres. Mendocino, Humboldt, Trinity, Tehama, Lake, and Glenn counties. Caused by Lightning strikes during a severe lightning storm. Lasted from August 16 - November 12.

I remember the storm on August 16, 2020. Sunday. Most insane thing I’d ever seen. All lightning, no rain. The lightning was all the colors of the rainbow, striking every hill in the Bay all at once for an hour. The fires lasted months. We lived in smoke, praying for autumn rain. I moved away the next year. I couldn’t bear to live through it again. Watching this is ptsd. The worst. I love California. It’s breaking my heart.

Every few years, California gets a horrible wildfire like this. This is different because there are a few fires at the same time and the county and state were woefully unprepared. And it's going to get worse with more wind coming early next week.

Sherman Oaks house fire was fluke -isolated but it did affect couple other homes tho nothing to do with the other fires and that area is extremely safe again - not even a warning there now
I may be wrong but I heard it started as a kitchen or home accidental fire -timing just happened to be while others were igniting due to winds dryness heat etc going on

Currently 98 fires over 10 acres in california. Wouldnt be suprised if malibu is surrounded, or if the whole hills goes up. Just south of the palisaides there is two large country clubs that could be giant tinter boxes spreading out to greater LA

Years of government neglect in clearing brush to prevent things like this and poor maintenance on fire fighting equipment dont help, 20% of the fire trucks are out of commision and many fire hydrants dont work.
Why not pump water from the sea to put out the fire?
They are pumping water from the ocean. Millions of gallons of water from the encino reservoir could not be used because reservoir was under repair.

1 - Reservoirs and water tanks were at normal levels and completely full before the fire.
2 - All 114 city water supply tanks were fully stocked pre-fire.
3 - A 15-hour surge at four times normal demand reduced water pressure.
4 - High demand at lower elevations slowed refilling tanks at higher elevations.
5 - This unprecedented fire was fueled by 8 months of no rain and 85 MPH winds. Water is being brought in continuously.
6 - Even if, like Trump claimed, the protection of the Delta Smelt caused over regulation by California, it's the FEDERAL Endangered Species Act that requires the protection of endangered species like the Delta Smelt and their habitats, not Gavin Newsom or California.
Meanwhile, U.S. Insurance companies are pulling out of Florida, Louisiana, South Carolina, Arkansas, Colorado Minnesota, Nebraska & Oklahoma & California.
