- G’day mate! Long read ahead so brace yourself chz
2017 when I first tried solo traveling - back then it was a domestic flight to Siargao. It was my first time in Mindanao which was under Martial Law pa that time but despite all that I enjoyed it. I stayed in a bunk bed room, joined group tours, met people, eat, surf, etc.
I knew I wanted to do it again before I turn 30 but this time how about we go international? At first I thought, Singapore? It’s safe, near from the Philippines and solo traveler friendly. But eventually I went there twice but not solo heheh been to different countries in Asia the past years, so there’s a desire to explore outside of it. Last December 2023 I was casually checking on seat sales online - I stumbled upon a very cheap ticket to Melbourne and thought “Hmm JB went here na so maybe it’s fair I go there solo naman”. So I booked it 😂
Since then I didn’t tell anyone about the trip, only until I got my visa approved.
10 months in the making and we made it to Land Down Under 🇦🇺 To be honest it wasn’t a smooth ride - I was crying when I was boarding (dipa nakaka alis nahhomesick na ako? lol), my flight got delayed for 5 hours, first time in an 8 hour flight, heavy rains, I’m scared, I’m anxious, etc.
Stayed in a hostel but didn’t make friends and it’s okay. I was just really enjoying my alone time. Melbourne’s fun and easy to explore - free tram in the city, Great Ocean Road to explore, ang saya mag grocery at mag luto kasi ang ganda ng produce nila… but expensive 🥲
People are friendly always greeting you even while they’re jogging - naka sporty outfits sila kahit ang lamig. And it’s true - you get to experience different seasons all in one day!
I would love to come back and explore other parts of Australia next time!
Are we solo traveling again? Yes! Pero nakakamiss din ng may kausap/kasama so I documented my trip through this video. Congrats u made it until here haha thanks for reading through 💖
