I built a 88cc pro, and ride it everyday.I love it and when I ride it it feels way better than any moped I've ever had totally worth the cash.the fad isn't over.people want them but the price does scare people away.I wish they could have a better parts department and a street bike looking one.if you have the money just get one.don't be afraid.
The LongRanger: No blinkers, lights, or speedometer is legally required in CA but you will need to go to the DMV and get your moped plate for it. It’s a one-time fee of $21 and they’ll give you a license plate that looks exactly like a motorcycle plate - minus the spot to place a registration sticker. Even though it’s not required, I would recommend getting (at least) minimal insurance for it through any company that offers motorcycle insurance. Having insurance will help cover the unforeseen, and will make you look more responsible to a traffic officer and less likely to get a ticket if ever you’re pulled over. Good luck and be safe. Always remember that cars are probably not seeing you, so be super careful and don’t gamble by putting yourself in a spot that you could get hit. It just takes one hit to ruin your life forever.
I have the Motoped Survival and love the Friggen thing! I have the 125cc semi auto and 55mph top speed which is way too fast for a bike but to each his own. I also have a Stealth bomber B52 electric bike, does 55mph also but I find myself on the Motoped more often. The stealth is awesome but the LOOK of the Motoped Survival is pure insanity.
There is a big difference between these things and a dirt bike. It depends on the bike as far as how fast is too fast but even professional riders bombing downhill aren't going over 70. Keyword being professionals with bikes specifically designed for that kind of use. These are hybrids between a mountain bike (not built for speed) and what I would call a dualsport instead of a dirtbike. They are first and foremost a bicycle with a motor on it. They aren't meant to go 100.
i have built my own motoped from an old pit bike.(im in the uk) it cost me £800 and it looks exactly like the motoped pro. i have used a pit bike rear hub and got it laced with a mountain bike rear rim. i realized, its really not that hard at all and anyone with basic tools, ebay account and a bike shop nearby can do it really. -Lilian 125cc semi auto pit bike (£300) -extended pitbike swing arm (got that done at the local welders) -mountain bike front forks and bearings() -DH mountain bike wheel set (£150) -had them lying around -hydraulic disc brake set(80) -relocated the foot pegs for more comfort and a few more things. im not sure whether i should make a video on you-tube of me building one :I
I Liked the Idea. I'm More on the Mountain Bike side but do not Mind moto. I Like having Pedals instead of Pegs lol as silly as that sounds I would Not Mind an Electric build up of a Motoped Gas would be fun too but I would not be able to go as many Places. Plus as a Mountain Biker I do Like being less Likely to scare off wildLife and I Like to Hear my own surroundings. do they still sell the Kit version.?
Best I could find is this place in Denver, Colorado that sells a 125cc kit. wildpowersports.com/motoped/motoped-pro-125.html Motopeds own site doesn't have any information on buying so maybe they went to a dealer model now vs direct sells which I do know during my helping with this a lot of "dealers" they were trying to setup were upset that they sold direct.
Motopeds are fucking AWESOME, all you have to do is get a aftermarket back rim that takes 17 'dirt bike rims and spokes you will never get a flat and you can go ANY where!
I never even knew these existed! Recently purchased a Benelli TNT 135 (Grom clone) for around 2 stacks. I really like the style of these bikes though. Looks easy to work on. I have an 110cc pitbike engine just sitting in my back yard, maybe I'll build my own? Would be awesome to find a frame.
@@Meekerextreme Yea, totally. I just looked at the price and was shocked. I mean it's basically a reinforced mountain bike frame with a mounted small dirtbike engine. I really think they're too expensive. But, hey you've got honda groms selling for 4k+ so idk. But yeah, if I find a frame, or just build my own, I was also considering making a minibike with car tires. Hmm.. lol
I know it sounds like I am hating them. I don't, I wanted the company to work. But from what I had seen, and seen behind the scenes has me say NO WAY. Maybe they are better now, you don't really hear shit from them online so who knows.
I have a motoped pro with a 125cc on it reg in cali. I love it. Street legal. I usually cruise 35 though town but when I take it to the back roads I'm passing groms. My bike does 65 flat ground.
@@tomtee4442 ya cali title. It's reg as a moped life time reg for $21. And parts wise just tires and brakes. Maintenance stuff. I rebuilt the shocks with heavier springs but I jump it and do drops on it. Hardest thing to find is a 24x3 rear tire.
up north Ottawa , we love them! bought 6 from Cam in the kick stater drive, have not had any problems, there are parts available , Ive gone thur 3x 125 Lufan and 2 140 plister pro engines which are cheap to replace. moto-cross bikes are twice the weight ,and costly to repair, the price of e-mnt DH bikes start at $6000. US. the new Yeti e-bike is $ 16000 . thank you Cam, and good luck to the guys at the new comp
Cam has nothing to do with these though. And e-bikes do not start at $6000...LOL Also you can get a Sur-Ron or now Segway for $4,000 which is the thing to get. Yeti e-bike....LOL and you don't see them out there not sure your point on bringing that up. I still much rather have my Beta 300 2-stroke for the trails.
Interesting to say the least, I seen an actual mo-ped brand mo-ped down in our entertainment district a few weeks ago. it was really cool to see them updated new version of them as well. This is a cool concept, I wonder what happened, could have been a really neat deal. I never seen them. Keep up the fun videos my friend. Thanks for sharing and have a blessed week my friend.
Now you have better products like the Sur-Ron. Not sure why you are looking up Motoped now, I haven't seen an ad or much talk about them for a couple years.
Your critique may be valid for the Motoped Pro bike, but I don't think it applies to the Cruzer and Survival models. Those bikes work great for their intended use (roads and simple trail riding). I bought a Survival bike two months ago and have been having a blast with it! Well built with a reliable engine, I hardly think that this will be a passing fad for me and many other satisfied users. Having said that, I agree with you about their business model. I waited a year for mine. Anyway, greetings from Cortez!
I always looked at the Cruzer and the Survival as major fad bikes, for me it's not my cup of tea at all for either of those. Those were proposed models way back. I mainly know the Pro because well that is what people wanted, that is what they started with and then sold the company to MotoVox with. The Cruzer and Survival were more promotional bikes they kept because I guess people do like them (even if I don't which is okay). Their Business model is very lacking. Their dealer support just plain sucked. They wanted their dealers to sell product but yet there was no product to deliver. For dealers the concern was how much do I invest into the bikes (which I have no inventory for) and they are talking about having PeepBoys sell them or some other Retailer. Also how do I as a dealer compete with the Motoped company to sell a frame kit or even a whole bike when they are going to sell them for cheaper then I can leaving me with not much meat on the bone. You notice now, Motoped's hype has died down. I'm glad you enjoy your bike. Stock up on sprockets (the main wear item that is unique). Think about it another Chinese company could copy a Motoped and sell it for $500 with engine, heck you can go buy a Moped/Scooter for $500-$1,000 and even cheaper if you bulk order through Alibaba then it's only $200-$500 each. LOL They really failed to meet the demand, which had people back away. I could have sold 20 in my neighborhood alone if there would have been product in hand. You got to admit most people would not wait a year, I know I wouldn't it be called give me my money back.
If the company makes it or goes under, how does that affect the fun and quality of the existing bikes? To put it another way, if you had to use a 49cc scooter for whatever reason, would you rather have a motoped or scooter with a fat seat and heavy frame? I'd take one of these any day. If by saying the "fad" has died, you mean people with no reason other than to own one have stopped buying them, well OK, not going to change those who have a need for them to stop using them. They are good for commuting, traveling, school, even grocery getting if you have one with racks. And no registration...etc...
Honestly I rather have a motorcycle for the $3,000 to $4,000 which you can get used. The guys putting $6,000+ into these are silly (my opinion silly varies by ones own definition) If they were to go under getting parts might be hard, seeing as it's a real niche of a product. Just saying the poor delivery of them, the lack of filling orders in a timely manor, and Motovox running them into the ground. The whole idea behind motovox was that they use these pit engines and could get made and fill orders. They lacked at it and that didn't happen. They paid a LOT too for Motopeds. Even motovox wasn't plagued by Chinese delays (like sending bad hubs int he middle of a pallet with good ones packed around them in hopes no one notices. They did, and they had to pull manufacturing and take cash elsewhere to get hubs made. But that is what you expect from China. By fad I mean people I know that were interested have now moved on. even by the companies own admission this was a fad product that might be copied or sold in PepeBoys at some point. Help's when you know people to know these things. *shrug* Again it's one reason why I wouldn't buy a new one...plenty used too out there on the Motoped FB Page's. I will say it did innovate DIY's to build their own engine powered bicycles. Which is really cool to see. Somehow you compare Motoped to a Moped or Scooter, I would never own either. Most people buying Motoped's I met also would have never owned a scooter, they owned mountain bikes and/or dirt bikes and had the extra cash for something to be different. RoxShox's for example was like HELL NO, we don't want our shocks on that. Yes, it's cool but we don't want the liability, what you do with our stuff is up to you, but we don't take liability in putting them on a heavy frame that is powered. Oh, and I'm not saying they were not neat, or fun...but there is many reasons why I wouldn't bother getting one. If I did it would be a frame kit maybe someone bought and never used. Use that as a bases to build what I want...but by the time you add a good engine, good suspension you can easily be at $6,000+. No it's not worth it to me.... Again my opinion is all this is...Like most of TH-cam you either agree, or learn or move on.
Meeker Extreme H'YAH!!! I'm with you bro... price-to-product ratio is just too unequal... I dont even ride motocross, but I I ride mountain bike enough that I've considered a pit bike for the capability of backwoods, outlaw tresspassin recon type of riding that I absolutely love doing, and this motoped thing would be ideal for that , save for the fact that it ain't got professional support behind it apparently. For that price, they should at least have a gang of different departments on board backing it up. Yeah - I'd rather own a dirt or pit bike with better capabilities and plenty of available support.
A beefed up mountain bike frame? Really? Mountain bikes have a frame, subframe, and a swingarm? I think the proper verbiage would be "a lightweight motorcycle frame" instead of a heavy duty mountain bike frame. You're really tryin to minimize the Motoped aren't you? l've had a Motoped for over a year now and absolutely love it! I have the 140cc Piranha engine on mine and it hauls! This isn't a novelty item for me. I'm keepin mine around. As was stated in a previous comment, "if you like being prepared for almost anything you may encounter, check out a Motoped." It's nice to have around for the unexpected. Regardless of what happens on the business end of things, I'll always be proud to own one of these bikes!
Don't spend top dollar if you want one. Also city cruising and neighbors appreciate a quiet ride too. So its understandable to build a electric street fighter. I don't mind the noise or learning to tinker on engines. I could've got a 2nd motorcycle for the 2k I spent. I just wanted to dodge the Ca motor laws.
Looking to buy one but do not have a lot of money want to use it for hunting and scouting for deer would like to mount both a trail or hitch for a pull behind cart or trail or plus also a larger engine say either a 212 or 420 predator pull start engine if possible. If so how much are they and where can I get one
So you ride for the fun of for the novelty....??? You say "this product won't last because it was a novelty". If you said "this product won't last because the parts are cheap and hardly available" then I'd understand.
Now with bike like the Sur-Ron, Cake, and other electric options those are game changers. Quiet is best, no one wants to draw a crowd. TH-cam must be bring back from the old videos, old videos...LOL
@@Meekerextreme Those examples are motorcycles. E-bicycles are a completely different product. Also, even the best E-bikes don't have the range or speed. Everything has it's advantages and disadvantages when compared to something different especially the price. My engine costs $350 while an Electric conversion with similar performance would cost over 5k.
Thank you for killing this dilution of mine quickly and efficiently. You have save me days if not weeks of internet research and for that my brother i thank you.
The interest died in motopeds because they are illegal in almost every state. I was going to buy one but I first checked the Laws..... and these things are 100% illegal on public roads. So I bought a $4000.00 Electric mountain bike back in 2014 and have bought 3 more electric bikes since then.
Legal if you stay under 50cc at least here in Colorado, and other States. Still the noise and weirdness of the product could get you pulled over. Moab after visiting with some the BLM there banned them from trails. They also wouldn't be allowed on bike paths or MTB trails legally. Now electric you still run into same issues but being quiet helps a lot because no one hears you so they don't care. For sure I would get an e-bike before I got a Motoped.
only laws specifically against them were because of excessively whiny bitter old farts with nothing better to do with their time but make life as miserable as possible for others. the same ones who go out early in the mornings in some citys with the intention of trying to cause traffic jams by intentionally driving excessively slow.
I'd definitly buy one. But it seems they don't want to sell to Europe. I emailed. They ask for a number to discuss details and then don't call or email ever again. I tryed twice... Makes a real unprofessional impression to me. They don't want my money... Shame because I really like the product.
Lol I was sitting here thinking a guy named “the fad” died 😂 on one, these are great for getting away with passing cops kill the engine and peddle past other than that they are just trimmed down pit bikes
Understand what it is. Motorcycles were fads when they were invented. You can get a real motorcycle for $8000 however how did you arrive at 8000? Your facts are convoluted because you're looking at them from a market value perspective.
The 50cc Motoped couldn't even get over the entrance gate to SlickRock...LOL The power was so lacking. The 110cc here was no issue and that is what I would go for. It's a neat and fun toy but not very practical. Even though I liked riding it. Looks like the company might be making a comeback as I see more activity from them lately on Social Media. Honestly for $3,000 to $6,000 I would buy a downhill e-bike and be silent on trails.
I thought they were interesting. But like you said a novelty. I would have been a buyer of the 110cc for about $1,000 to $1,500 max. My other choice would have been a pit bike to annoy my wife while we were camping. Thanks for posting and your perspective. Wondered what happened to them.
I used stock footage I had...so more to it then I could talk about given the length of film I had. Tires wear out after a few rides. They are not meant to have power like a 110cc engine driving it. The stock suspension was shit, this was top of the line RockShox on the 110cc I rode and it was awesome but that cost another $1,800 I think it was. No battery box, so I made a basic one, but they did have a spot with thread holes int he frame...kinda stupid not to sell a box that would look good (maybe billet). Getting the special sprockets for them and there are a lot to wear out I would imagine would also be hard as the company have been flaky. A neat product, but way over priced considering made in China. Motopeds also didn't really support the dealers like they should have. I believe I had some awesome ideas that I talked to Motopeds about at the time and they liked it but this was when Motovox bought them and they spent a lot of money but failed to deliver a product and I guess didn't want to risk more money. My idea was to corner the market in a race series (kind of like Strider has done), you could have huge 100 mile loops that included no engine zones meaning you have to pedal, you could also include some gnarly up and down trails. I had a whole community interested in this and all it would have taken was 5-12 Motopeds for a first "race" just to do it then the next would have people interested and signing up, plus let them use other bikes from some of the other manufactures (not like Motopeds is the only game). Once you corner the market on having your own race series people take these seriously. This was back before Trailtaker was around and I was proposing let me develop loops in my local Colorado area with GPX tracks, video and pictures to show real world usage. A product like this you have to keep the hype up, normal people to part ways with $3,000+ need to see, touch and read about others experiences. Motoped's was more concerned with showing their bike off at Motocross events. Yeah cool you have a picture at this or that, but how does that tell me a normal person how this will work in the real world. Maybe the videos on TH-cam are better now but they were pretty lacking back then and it was either someone hitting a huge jump(pro rider) or some South American with a shit ass video on the street). In a way I feel Alta Redshift electric bike might go the same way, they are pushing to the race crowd but fail to see the needed hype by an everyday trail rider. I think most people trail ride, and they ask themselves "what will this do for me on a trail"...but you never see that. The main problem is how do you get someone to part ways with $3,000-$8,000 when you can go buy a used motorcycle, moped or scooter? Heck a Chinese Moped can be had for $500....LOL Same goes for the Redshift dirt bike, how do you get people to part ways with their $15,000 when you can buy a used bike really cheap or even new KTM dirt bike for $10,000. My Gas Gas new cost me $7,000 I think. I'll still go back to they need to really show these unique products in everyday use, not some pro on it showing how high they can jump...I don't care what a PRO can do, what can an average person do?
Fuck it i got the cruzer used 2k best decision so far. If your into cool little monster bikes this is the shit! If you see them for sale 2nd hand its very slim pickins. I tinker alot and have friends that are great small engine mechanics. I'm a bicycle mechanic by trade so this buy is in my wheel house. I intend to bring this with me from Los Angeles to rural northern CA. It fits perfect in my truck camper shell. Going to work and use this as my local transport, save gas when I'm up north working. This video has its merits, don't buy full price. The originals are going for 1,300 used last I saw but it was in the stixx, the survival and cruzer are not worth more than 2k. That said aftermarket stuff can be had if you love tinkering. All in all it fits a purpose. I also have a fz600 but I can't take it with me and have a cot in my truck.
WHY THE FUCK BICYCLE WITH 100 CC ENGINE COST 8 GRAND IF THAT IS A PRICE OF REAL 400 CC DIRT BIKE ? THIS THINGS SHOULD BE SELLING FOR LESS THAN 2 GRAND ! AND DON'T LET ME STARTED ON IDIOTS SPENDING 6 GRAND ON MOUNTAIN BIKES ROFL ! I BOUGHT USED KAWASAKI ZX10 FOR 6 GRAND IT GET ME OVER 300 KM/ H YEA A REAL MOTHER FUCKING BIKE !
@@Meekerextreme gas bikes are fun as shit sooo much ya can do to them and can be made to have a ton of power record on a Gasbike is 85mph piagio 82.5 minarelli cylinder swap hybrids are bad ass make ebikes look slow and plus ya can get a 4stroke and refill the gas tank at any station or bring oil w ya and same thing e a two stroke thinking of how much gas was burned to get the power to ride an e bike and a fuel efficient t two stroke they pretty close in efficiency and two strokes are2x more power per liter potential than a four stroke
this would be a good grom competitor if it was fully street legal for california. the market for small legal street bikes just goes back to when we were kids. we would ride our dirt bikes around the side streets and mountains since we didnt have licenses or cars. also it markets to kids also. but ya 125s are fun to ride and you can drive them fast without getting tons of speeding tickets ect on the street if they are street legal. more of a hooligan style bike can ride on sidewalks over curbs ect. but ya in the mountains they are basically pointless since they shine more in the city streets not so much in country streets.. vs a dirt bike which shine in the mountains. the frame and front fork are very good on this model. it helps keep it lightweight which is important for small cc motors but also take all the vibrations and bumps unlike just a motorized bicycle... the bad thing even the groms are overpriced. dirtbikes same ccs are half the price of groms brand new. idk why all the companies are failing on nailing the build and the price range for these bikes. also you can find cool looking 80cc bicycles for around the 1200 dollar mark so ya the price is the main problem on all these little bikes. the companies tried to mark them up to ridiculous prices and wonder why the market dropped out. but hey for another 15k you can have one of the fastest vehicles on the road (liter bikes) brand new or even 5k on top off the price of these for a used liter bike.. lol
I look at a bike like these at a motorcycle shop in Lake Havasu City back in around 2005. It was when everyone was buying pit bikes. Stupid high price for Chinese junk.
I think they priced themselves out of the market. Coupled with bad ownership and an iffy product, they're dead. I made an electric bike for $350 (lardass lead acids, gear, and everything) from a Freecycle mountain bike. And I see the 49cc engine and conversion kits for $100 now. How can Motoped charge so much? You said it: FAD. I can get a Chiwanese 250 Enduro for $2k, including $1,600 bike, licensing, and the required mc training here in Oregon. Sorry, Motoped. There are just too many other options to consider you any more. I do agree that the survival bike looks rad, and I'm an old retired farte.
I guess people will always leg hump a brand especially if they own one the last thing they want to hear is negative about that brand. The product is cool, but not $3,000 cool. For $3,000 I can get a Downhill Mountain e-bike and it won't draw attention on trails like something with a noisy engine does. Luna makes pretty good products for example and I have ridden a few and they are pretty badass.
Selling what? No one talks about these anymore. Hell you can buy a Sur-Ron and have a lot more fun. They failed to continue the momentum they had, the company selling a few times didn't help. I'm guessing you work for them and thing these are the bee's knees they were fun at the time but you just don't hear ANYONE talking about them they did a lot of poor business decisions.
Sadly people are morons. The product is fun, the company that bought it from cam fucked it up. Sorry if you are a product leg humper. Funny how people get all worked up over a novelty product. But hey, there is a reason why you can buy them used all over the place, from my understanding the company is still slow to deliver.
Or an e-bike like a Luna system and be stealthy that way. Motoped's are neat, but cost to fun aspect for me is not there. It's like the One Wheel, sure it looks fun, looks well made but $1,500. I guess if that is what you really want then cool. Remember the Motoped's I tried were around $5,000-$6,000 as they had expensive parts. At those prices it's a hell of an expensive toy.
I feel you. Yea if i was trying to spend that much I'd def go electric or just a street legal dirt bike. I just mean like for $600-1000 you could build a pretty awesome motorized mtb. I built one with like random bike parts i had laying around and spent like 350 on used parts. Even if i had to buy everything I could have done it with like 700 and it's pretty legit.
Built this for very cheap compared to an electric mtb or motoped. Top speed of 35 and can pull me up San Francisco hills: tinypic.com/r/xqclc4/9 You can buy motorized bikes built already on craigslist but people sell them for twice as much as you can build one. Just buy a decent used hardtail mountain bike for like 350-550 and a 66cc kit off ebay from a good seller for 150. You can also get a GT LTS or Rocky mountain element for like 500 bucks off ebay if you want a full suspension motorized bike. Those are like the only FS frames i can think of that give you space for mounting the motor. Follow youtube videos if you need help installing. Then make or buy these 3 upgrades: Better chain guide/idler cause the kit one is garbage, sprocket that bolts into disc hub or an adapter(the kit one is super sketchy), and then an expansion chamber such as the bulldog one off ebay for more power.
If people want something that will last, get an enduro rigged with the cargo stuff. Then quit being lazy, study for the test, and go to the secretary of state for your license. Too easy!
These things would be cool, but they are a bit too expensive (you can buy a small dual sport motorcycle used for half the price) but the biggest issue I have with them is that they are NOT street legal in my state, because they are 1cc too big (AZ displacement limit is 48cc) and no gas powered vehicle is legal on a real mountain bike trail. I am an off road motorcycle rider, and I used to be a mountain biker as well, but had to give it up due to medical issues. The only motorized bike I can legally ride on a mountain bike trail is an electric one, and they cost even more than these do. The price on these Motopeds is not really that bad, depending on how they hold up. You can spend More than $10K on a pedal mountain bike. I might have bought one if it had been street legal. Long ago I used to ride real mopeds, like Puch and Tomos. I have avoided the motorized bicycle scene because they are all home made junk, Chinese engine kits on Walmart bikes. I wish someone would come up with a factory made motorized bike that was street legal, maybe something like a 48cc Whizzer.
i'm 14 and looking for fuel efficient car or motorcycle that doesn't look like a pussy mobile for lack of better wording essentially i don't want a bad looking vehicle but i want it to be fuel efficient just something to get me to point a to point b efficiently
God satan For cars I'd say something like a Scion FRS. For a motorcycle I'd say a Kawasaki ninja or Honda CBR. However even if you have a part time job insurance and gas will probably be more then you think (granted depends on state/province.) If you don't need to ride on highways to get to most places where you live I heard the Yamaha BWS or Honda ruckus 50cc scooters are actually cool for scooters and have great fuel efficiency. Also depending on your state/province you might not need a licence for those. Also I heard a lot of people build a super fast stealth electric bicycle (with the battery where a water bottle would be so it doesn't even look like an electric) or add off road gas engines to bicycles to make super fast motorised bicycles
Dr. Dual Sport Yeah! The pedals could have a dual purpose, they can propel the bike forward while also using the energy from your pedalling to charge the battery via a crank system attached to the sprocket(s).
Docter Yoda and its not that efficient, it will need hours of cranking that pedal, and its gonna be heavy, adding more weight to mountain bike is not a very good idea, this bike probably gonna be heavy but you can carry fuel than cranking
You can't ride a Grom in the bike lane. Also, it requires insurance. Can you jump a Grom off a rooftop or bomb down a staircase? How about pedaling through a park or or shopping mall, Can the Grom do that? Point is, they are two completely different machines.
there are much better things you could buy for same amount of money to fit this role much better like a damn dirtbike ! buy an older 4 stroke bike upgrade it to fit your needs and go ride !
I agree. I mean they are fun but for the money I'm more into Dirt Bikes, Dual Sports and Adventure Bikes (obviously from the main content of my channel). I do find it funny the people mad at me because I talk about the company even though the product is fun just because I pooped on their 'loved' product. Not sure why people get so attached to items, you would have thought I kicked their dog and raped their wife by how some of the commentators act. Fun product, shitty company. Hey maybe that has changed for all I know. Like you, I'll stick to dirt bikes. Although I got to say I do like the FX Bikes which seems better made then Motopeds.
Shop at www.ammototoys.com to save on gear, parts, and accessories.
Andrew Forty do u no how the 49cc does? how fast is urs compared to the stock 49
Its 10 mph faster it has a lot more power my bikes probably does 45-50
Do they come with a title and can you still get parts???
The cruiser is a street bike version
I own a Motoped Pro, $21 lifetime registration in CA as a motorized bike, ride it all around, it's a blast
eastba4savage I live in SoCal and I want to buy or build one , I also have a motorized bicycle , do you need blinkers and a plate ?
Glad to hear, they are indeed fun. I'm looking at the fxbikes now
Dan too fast for a bike? grow a pair
Dontay, your schwinn goes 10mph, multiply that x5. It's really fast.
Dan 1) spell my name right
2) my atvs and dirt bikes go almost 100. its only fast if youre a crappy rider
-Lilian 125cc semi auto pit bike (£300)
-extended pitbike swing arm (got that done at the local welders)
-mountain bike front forks and bearings()
-DH mountain bike wheel set (£150) -had them lying around
-hydraulic disc brake set(80)
-relocated the foot pegs for more comfort
and a few more things.
im not sure whether i should make a video on you-tube of me building one :I
hamza derbal hell ya man!
Hamza, does it have pedals? if not then it is nothing like the motoped.
not yet but soon.of course its like the mot-oped it looks exactly like it. and rides exactly like it.
The whole point of the motoped is the pedals. Without them it is an inferior dirt bike.
hamza derbal set me up im in the uk teach me how to build 1 please where about in uk are you
I Liked the Idea.
Best I could find is this place in Denver, Colorado that sells a 125cc kit. wildpowersports.com/motoped/motoped-pro-125.html
Motopeds own site doesn't have any information on buying so maybe they went to a dealer model now vs direct sells which I do know during my helping with this a lot of "dealers" they were trying to setup were upset that they sold direct.
Motopeds are fucking AWESOME, all you have to do is get a aftermarket back rim that takes 17 'dirt bike rims and spokes you will never get a flat and you can go ANY where!
Still the fad died, I agree they are fun. Better options now like Sur-Ron's that Luna Cycle sells.
That was the original idea just to sell you the frame and you build the bike. That makes sense to me. The getting into the "whole" bike was silly.
Hmm.. lol
At this point you have Suron's, silent and a lot better.
I agree 100% with you meeker. only problem I have is with the bearings in a jackshaft , swing arm. problem is coming up during mud conditions.
I know it sounds like I am hating them. I don't, I wanted the company to work. But from what I had seen, and seen behind the scenes has me say NO WAY. Maybe they are better now, you don't really hear shit from them online so who knows.
No one is letting a youtube goofball like you "behind the scenes"
Really!! I know the investors, the people, and Cam...you know him?
Once again I'm not bashing the product, moron. Bashing the company that bought them and fucked them up.
I like the mid drive electric motoped
do you Have One? I want one surron is ok but Id Like Cranks and Pedals rather then Pegs.
I have a motoped pro with a 125cc on it reg in cali. I love it. Street legal. I usually cruise 35 though town but when I take it to the back roads I'm passing groms. My bike does 65 flat ground.
Right on!
@@Meekerextreme parts are hard as shit to find lol. We use it at the drag strip
Did your motoped come with a title and can you still get parts???
@@dandelionperfomance what parts have you needed and did it come with a title?
With current gas prices, these are looking very appealing
I'd go with a Suron, unless you can find a Motoped.
A COLLECTOR'S ITEM FOR SURE A TRUE COLLECTIBLE
If you like it buy one, contrary to what some might believe you only live once so what is money moreover I love mine
Now you have better products like the Sur-Ron. Not sure why you are looking up Motoped now, I haven't seen an ad or much talk about them for a couple years.
@@Meekerextreme The sur ron is great, until you have to turn around and go home 1/2 hour into your ride.
Would it be better to use a Honda XR50 pit bike frame? Any reason why that would be a bad idea?
LOL
They really failed to meet the demand, which had people back away. I could have sold 20 in my neighborhood alone if there would have been product in hand.
You got to admit most people would not wait a year, I know I wouldn't it be called give me my money back.
I am in love.........with my new EBIKE, 48V 20Ah 1000w 80kmph off road full suspension, EAT MY DUST BECAUSE YOU CANNOT EVEN HEAR WHERE I WENT.
80 kmph on 1000 w my ass...
Even if that bike was that fast you would have about 1/2 hour battery life. My 125cc will destroy your bike and I can ride for hours.
I'm liking the fxbikes...myself.
Agreed, this uploader is a obviously bitter about something. The Motoped is awesome.
Why would i spend that kind of money when I can make my own electric bike for under $1000?
Don't spend top dollar if you want one. Also city cruising and neighbors appreciate a quiet ride too. So its understandable to build a electric street fighter.
I don't mind the noise or learning to tinker on engines. I could've got a 2nd motorcycle for the 2k I spent. I just wanted to dodge the Ca motor laws.
Just so you guys know the kawasaki z125 is super quiet stock.
150mpg.
And can handle this type of offroad riding.
Because it would beat your build in every category except dB's.
So what motorized bike would you recommend?
lunacycle.com/sur-ron-x-bike/
I agree with the luna surron
Looking to buy one but do not have a lot of money want to use it for hunting and scouting for deer would like to mount both a trail or hitch for a pull behind cart or trail or plus also a larger engine say either a 212 or 420 predator pull start engine if possible. If so how much are they and where can I get one
motoped.com/
So you ride for the fun of for the novelty....??? You say "this product won't last because it was a novelty". If you said "this product won't last because the parts are cheap and hardly available" then I'd understand.
The company may suck but the Motoped is far from junk. I Have been riding my Motoped for 5 years with no serious issues. It is a lot of fun to ride.
Do they come with a title and can you still get parts???
Thank you for killing this dilution of mine quickly and efficiently.
You have save me days if not weeks of internet research and for that my brother i thank you.
Haha fucking same
The interest died in motopeds because they are illegal in almost every state.
Your facts are convoluted because you're looking at them from a market value perspective.
you can buy the engine kits of eBay for £150 that's British of American about 180 dollars 50cc fits on nearly every push bike fuck paying them prices
To be honest, it's difficult to respect this bike when you see someone dodging zombies on it...
They were wearing shoes too...
Yeah, like all the hipster 20 something's buying $20,000 cars in other commercials is believable

I see two for sale locally but they both want $2800+ and they were $3000 new so not gonna happen
That is a lot for a 50cc model that is used maybe if it was a 125-140cc with better forks
They want 2 much money 4 it and it ain't even that fast even in 125cc.
It's speed depends on the engine. My stroked 125 has been 83 MPH which is more than fast enough.
How fast is the 49cc?
I also have a fz600 but I can't take it with me and have a cot in my truck.
shit looks like fun to me I want one! way better then electric heavy weight and always gota wait while charging

Yeah but easier to get away with riding Mtn Bike trails etc on electric because they are quiet.
this would be a good grom competitor if it was fully street legal for california. the market for small legal street bikes just goes back to when we were kids. we would ride our dirt bikes around the side streets and mountains since we didnt have licenses or cars. also it markets to kids also. but ya 125s are fun to ride and you can drive them fast without getting tons of speeding tickets ect on the street if they are street legal. more of a hooligan style bike can ride on sidewalks over curbs ect. but ya in the mountains they are basically pointless since they shine more in the city streets not so much in country streets.. vs a dirt bike which shine in the mountains. the frame and front fork are very good on this model. it helps keep it lightweight which is important for small cc motors but also take all the vibrations and bumps unlike just a motorized bicycle... the bad thing even the groms are overpriced. dirtbikes same ccs are half the price of groms brand new. idk why all the companies are failing on nailing the build and the price range for these bikes. also you can find cool looking 80cc bicycles for around the 1200 dollar mark so ya the price is the main problem on all these little bikes. the companies tried to mark them up to ridiculous prices and wonder why the market dropped out. but hey for another 15k you can have one of the fastest vehicles on the road (liter bikes) brand new or even 5k on top off the price of these for a used liter bike..
Three years later and still selling cry baby!
But hey, there is a reason why you can buy them used all over the place, from my understanding the company is still slow to deliver.
better and cheaper to just build a motorized downhill MTB
Where do I get one
Built this for very cheap compared to an electric mtb or motoped. Top speed of 35 and can pull me up San Francisco hills: tinypic.com/r/xqclc4/9
You can buy motorized bikes built already on craigslist but people sell them for twice as much as you can build one.
Then make or buy these 3 upgrades: Better chain guide/idler cause the kit one is garbage, sprocket that bolts into disc hub or an adapter(the kit one is super sketchy), and then an expansion chamber such as the bulldog one off ebay for more power.
holy cow, get to your point.
I think that an ebike would be the way to go!
Dr. Dual Sport Yeah! The pedals could have a dual purpose, they can propel the bike forward while also using the energy from your pedalling to charge the battery via a crank system attached to the sprocket(s).
Docter Yoda and its not that efficient, it will need hours of cranking that pedal, and its gonna be heavy, adding more weight to mountain bike is not a very good idea, this bike probably gonna be heavy but you can carry fuel than cranking
a 110cc wont destroy trails
It's not worth the price
Honda grom. $2500 used.
LOL Yeah easier to buy parts for and just as much fun.
You can't ride a Grom in the bike lane. Also, it requires insurance. Can you jump a Grom off a rooftop or bomb down a staircase? How about pedaling through a park or or shopping mall, Can the Grom do that? Point is, they are two completely different machines.
Nice video
there are much better things you could buy for same amount of money to fit this role much better like a damn dirtbike ! buy an older 4 stroke bike upgrade it to fit your needs and go ride !
Illegal on the street or sidewalk. Legal on private property.
