I'd love to be able to buy these gorgeous books (as well as many other graphic novels) without actually filling up half of my living space, which is quite tight. I do, however, already know that Neil Gaiman makes for a good read!
I love the corinthian where he shows them self realization, and the single issue of the guy that met dream once a century. But I've barely read that much.
Sandman is the best comix books series ever, no doubt for me. I'm Italian but I buy mostly U.S editions. I've already read the series in italian, but a few months ago I bought the US box set with 10 tpbs too. P.S Great channel, man. You and Ryleymo are my favorite comicbookstuber (is it a real word? :D )
Don't own the Omnibus. However the Absolutes are gorgeous. They're the standard that I hold all other absolutes too. If you're short on cash and just want the story the omnibus will work. If you want the best presentation this is the way to go.
You did a poor video??? can't remember that... but anyhow: The Absolute Editions of Sandman are great, top notch, I second everything you said. I love Sandman, my 15 yr old son loves Sandman and my wife'll do (I am working on it :) ) The story is so rich and fun, most of the art is very fitting and through the whole epos explores so many possibilities of the medium that it's just mindblowing (but I think you've already said that.) I have just one tiny problem with one of my absolutes: even though I treat them as well as a newborn baby, vol.3 has a slight crack between two pages (the pages detached just a bit from the inner spine), nothing big... yet... but I know from another absolute edition how this possibly ends.... one crack may leads to another... so I am curious if it's just me and my paranoia or someone has the same problem.
earl grey You're the first one I've heard that's had a problem with it binding wise. Huh maybe you got a lemon. In any case be watchful of that. These books aren't cheap.
I just bought vol 1 and 2, the others will soon be bought as well. I also own all 75 of the original comics, which I bought back in the 90s, monthly, I may add. This series is the pinnacle of comicdom, nay, literature!
informative and personal as always! Thank you! This maybe seems like a dumb question but, how do you think one should read sandman? I mean do you think one should read the whole story cover to cover (without reading anything else at the side) or in periods? Keep up the good work and please review Blacksad soon, so more people can get the knowledge of that wonderful series!
Christoffer Sederin Not a dumb question at all. I read the series cover to cover and had no problem with it. I did occasionally stop to do research on some of the themes and religions that he was pulling from and that help to supplement he experience.
Hardcover Reviews Thanks mate! People always talks about which edition is the best one but never really the best way to actually read Sandman. I usually just read one book at the time and since sandman is quite an investment (time and money) I was curious, since it would maxed my comic budget for this month and possible the next one. But hey even so I just ordered the first omnibus. I been dying to read this for quite some time know.
Very good review. Slightly rushed but nonetheless informative. It was actually, with the help of your earlier review, I made the decision to purchase all 5 of the Absolute's and the Absolute Death.
Thank you. Yeah it's so much to cover that admit-tingly I rushed a bit on this one. Don't like long videos and prefer to get to the point so there was some cram. :p
It's a series that is not for everyone. I will say that the second volume is much stronger than the first volume since that's when Gaiman seems to be able to break out of the DC bubble and do what he wants with the series. All good though man. Can't love everything. For example everyone praises Chris Wares work and it does nothing for me.
I really WISH you listed where to buy it or where I can by paperback or single issues because the ones I'm finding on Amazon are basically a story and not a comic. Any help guys?
If I may... The Omnibus editions do not contain any extras at all. Also nothing from the fifth volume and smaller in size. Many prefer them because of the smaller price-tag. In truth... while the Absolutes are "expensive", the fact that they contain so much extra, make them worth their price.
Jose Abel Gomez If you just want to read the story and are short on cash the omnibus are a more inexpensive way to read this. However if you have the money this is the best presentation for this series. Oversized art and a truck load of special features.
I grabbed the Omnibus edition instead. I'd really recommend it. Beautiful volumes (leather, silver embossing, black trim), easy to read (no gutter loss). They both can be had for around $170-180. Definitely the way to go if you don't want to shell out the $300+ for the slipcovers and extras. Just another option. Love the channel
Should add a spoiler warning, some people - like me - come here to see if they should buy the absolutes after having read one or two of the volumes and want to commit to the remainder of the series. No need to spoil the story.
I cant read even the first chapter. The drawing, for me, is a piece of shit and is all very confuse. I dont like, Im very dissapointed with this. I cant believe i spent my money in something like this. I just finish the preacher and i was looking for something, but not this.
Vol 5 covers side stories. "Endless Nights" "Sandman: Midnight Theatre," Sandman: The Dream Hunters"
Holy shit, what a quality channel I stumbled onto. Great work.
Joe FTFFear I agree. any others that you follow , from a similar vein ?
Ian Blanchard Omnidog’s Vault, Omnibus Collector’s Network, A Week In Geekdom, Near Mint Condition! 👍
Your enthusiasm is infectious mate! :)
Love this review. Insightful, informative, clear and straight to the point.
I love all the books, but Brief Lives was my favorite. The journey Dream took with his sister to find Destruction was perfect.
I'd love to be able to buy these gorgeous books (as well as many other graphic novels) without actually filling up half of my living space, which is quite tight. I do, however, already know that Neil Gaiman makes for a good read!
Try and get the digital versions from getcomics.info
I loved the issue with his friend the he meets up with every century
My favorite issue is " 24 hours".
And I coundn't choose just one: Death, Dream or Destruction
Great review, man! I only have Vol 1 so far, but I'm hoping to get the rest soon.
I borrowed the first and second issue from the local library, its fantastic. I'd say its more entertaining than some of the best movies out there.
My favorite artist was from the first story arc. His style really fit. It looked like that old school horror comic style. Like Creepy or Eerie, etc.
Your enthusiasm talking about this book got me ordering the book on Amazon.CA right in the middle of the video
I love the corinthian where he shows them self realization, and the single issue of the guy that met dream once a century. But I've barely read that much.
I was thinking about picking up the two massive omnibus volumes.
Better than Watchmen??!
which one is recommend? omnibus or absolute
Not sure whether I get the Absolutes or the Omnibuses for this series. Any suggestions as to which is the better collection to own?
Don't own the Omnibus. However the Absolutes are gorgeous. They're the standard that I hold all other absolutes too. If you're short on cash and just want the story the omnibus will work. If you want the best presentation this is the way to go.
I heard the omnibus are basically thicker yet slightly shorter versions of the absolute editions, leather and all.
You did a poor video??? can't remember that... but anyhow: The Absolute Editions of Sandman are great, top notch, I second everything you said. I love Sandman, my 15 yr old son loves Sandman and my wife'll do (I am working on it :) )

Thanks for the review! You convinced me to buy em! :D
I am confused. Is that thick volume 1 that you showed just the first 8 issues? That is is that the 'Preludes and Nocturnes'?
I just bought vol 1 and 2, the others will soon be bought as well. I also own all 75 of the original comics, which I bought back in the 90s, monthly, I may add. This series is the pinnacle of comicdom, nay, literature!
im trying to decide between the Absolute or the more recently printed omnibus edition for Sandman, which one is the definitive version?
Assuming I like sandman I think I would get the omnibus 1 and 2 then get the absolute edition vol 5 because then you have the whole lot. Great video
good lord just looked up the prices on amazon and they are ridiculous way too much.
Awesome book..how is the binding holding up?
What are those medals behind you from? Good shit, btw!
Do the absolute editions have the new revised artwork?
informative and personal as always! Thank you! This maybe seems like a dumb question but, how do you think one should read sandman? I mean do you think one should read the whole story cover to cover (without reading anything else at the side) or in periods?

Hardcover Reviews which is your favorite of the four?
What's 5? if 1 -4 cover the story?
absolute or omnibus? which is better?
I have it but i could not get into it. Maybe i did not read far enough into it?
It's a series that is not for everyone. I will say that the second volume is much stronger than the first volume since that's when Gaiman seems to be able to break out of the DC bubble and do what he wants with the series. All good though man. Can't love everything. For example everyone praises Chris Wares work and it does nothing for me.
Thx for the review and have a great one.
I've heard nothing but good things about sandman, really want to take a look at it. Are the trades normally easy to find?
all of the trades have been reissued in new printings... instocktrades.com
I really WISH you listed where to buy it or where I can by paperback or single issues because the ones I'm finding on Amazon are basically a story and not a comic. Any help guys?
Oblivion You can look it up on instocktrades. Just search Absolute Sandman
did you pick up vol. 5 Death as well? recommended?
IamMedellinInc I have not. Sorry man :(
Delirium is my favorite endless, and Series 9 has to be my favorite.
Do you think the Absolute editions are the definitive way to read it? Im stuff between the absolutes or the Omnibus >.

Thanks guys Hardcover Reviews Aztecface I feel a lot more confident about buying the Absolutes now!
+Jose Abel Gomez Right now the Absolutes are actually way cheaper than the Omnibuses so I would go with Absolute if you haven't decided yet.
best fycking review now for sure gonna pick these up i had my eye on sandman for a while but every review i saw was very bad
this edition is so epic. but so heavy and big :D not for everyone. only people who really really love and think its important.
I grabbed the Omnibus edition instead. I'd really recommend it. Beautiful volumes (leather, silver embossing, black trim), easy to read (no gutter loss). They both can be had for around $170-180. And there's also absolute death.
Damn, such a great vid but *spoiler alert*! :( About Dream's second journey to Hell. I was literary just about to read it :(
Judo? Bjj?
I cant read even the first chapter. The drawing, for me, is a piece of shit and is all very confuse. I dont like, Im very dissapointed with this. I cant believe i spent my money in something like this. I just finish the preacher and i was looking for something, but not this.
Denny Then your missing out on an incredible series.
Your shit made me lose some brain cells bruh.
Steven Bullefer he really isn’t wrong though. Some artists imo are garbage and that has nothing to do with the level writing
Bro it's just the first couple of chapters, drawings get better from like issue 6, I think they changed the artist
the book is trash...
Take my money... great review! In your opinion, what are the best graphic novels of all time?
