    Its safe to say that sun and humid zones near the sea does hit hard on horizontal parts. Being a Gyeon Certified installer I can tell when someone does not mantain often their car just by dropping water on those mentioned panels. And still fights away water spots like a damn! Thanks for the update video Jason ❤

      The problem is, most of these coatings aren’t good enough to perform without maintenance all the time. There are a couple that are made to perform well even without maintenance. But it’s ironic nobody is talking about them.

    I applied Ceramic Pro to my car 3 years ago (working at a detiling shop). I followed the Gold Package procedures and haven't added any extra toppers to this day. The sides, front, and rear of the car still bead like day one, but the roof, trunk lid, and hood do not bead hardly at all. I tried using CarPro Spotless and and Iron Remover on those panels, and while it helped, they still didn't bead up as well as they used to. I polished my trunk lid and applied CQuartz and the same thing happened, so I am thinking something in my environment is ruining the hydrophobic properties of the coating. There is just no way it "disappeared" in 6 months. I keep it parked outside so that's certainly a factor.

    • @hachiroku7443
      @hachiroku7443 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those flat surface were mostly prone to stagnant water dust so it is safely to say the side mostly hold up compared to level surfaces and yes parking outside are one thing plus how you maintain washing once in a while as the tar and debris stayed in the surface that loss or block the properties of this ceramic coating to perform at its best.
      I had ceramic pro gold package too but for my third car so mostly stayed inside garage but I always clean it and top coat it after decontamination like iron,clay bar it every 6mos and occaional washes but certainly apply sealant to it.
      I’m gonna apply the duraSlic 1500 or xtreme I heard they have good resultand will do in my SUV and a sports coupe by spring and will buy their flowX or duracoat for sealant and protection gloss.I heard flowX were so slick an glossy and you can apply it to any brand or existing ceramic you have.

      Probably would be the peace of mind with a more durable hardness rating, higher level scratch resistance, durability in harsher weather conditions. In my opinion, it just depends on customers wants/needs, expectations, and budget.

    • @JetlinerX
      @JetlinerX ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@vincentcasarez8895 The scratch resistance coatings have are almost insignificant especially if the customer plans on taking care of the car properly they are less likely to scratch it regardless. @vincentcasarez8895 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JetlinerX that may be true as Ive been testing durability and scratch resistance on name brand coatings. Professional grade might be the only separation in terms of less marring from washing over the years to where it’s substantially noticeable.

    • @tommyholt3465
      @tommyholt3465 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@vincentcasarez8895 In regards to durability I’ve seen too much early failure in coatings, both pro and consumer grade, for me to suggest the price of pro coatings. In a recent Lake Country video a pro coating proved less durable than the consumer grade coating from the same manufacturer. They don’t impress in Scott HD’s channel either. His tests (or demonstrations) definitely show how extreme temperatures in either direction often damage even the best coatings. I’m leaning more and more towards 1 year +\- products like Gyeon Can Coat or Meguires hybrid paint coating at this point. I don’t even mention scratch resistance as most people don’t care about light wash marring and want to be told that something will protect their paint from “real” scratches which coatings can’t prevent.

Some are performing great but cost a fortune or have a fussy maintenance regime. Why choose these if you can get an equally performing coating that is cheaper and easier? The longer this goes on, the longer it will be of use. All knowledge is good knowledge.

    It'd be interesting to see what impact the M4 has on all the coatings. Maybe after doing your standard decontamination and documenting the results, apply M4 over other coatings which also have flat water behavior. Observe and document the results. Then try it on the whole car and observe the results. I wonder if M4 is artificially improving the water behavior or if it's stripping away what is causing the negative behavior. Trying it on other coatings may be able to reveal some of the answer.

    Hello great job putting this video together I do have a couple of questions. Not sure if this has been answered before but what was the reason for not using Carpro? So I picked up my truck yesterday. Firstly, I’m quite unhappy with the XPEL PPF install. Lots of misalignment on the PPF especially on the fenders and headlights. The worst part of it is how yellow the PPF looks next to areas not done in PPF. In terms of ceramic, I was told to not wash the car for 2 weeks so I don’t know how it will bead. My main concern with ceramic is durability. They told me I need to bring it for a $50 annual inspection when they wash it and a basic ceramic coat in order to maintain the 4 year warranty. XPEL also offers a 8 year warranty ceramic now but unfortunately they did not have stock of it.

      @dougklanecky9800 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andytomescu2968 Well that sucks, especially after what we pay for these services. The PPF mis-alignment is really an example of an inexperienced installer. Granted the Raptor has some large panels, which would be really hard to apply unless you had lots of experience. Do you know if they used the pre-cut PPF or bulk and cut their own? The Ceramic definitely needs to cure for a couple of weeks, before being washed, matter of fact our installer told us to leave it sit outside in the weather for at least 14 days and preferable 30 days before hand washing. No more automatic washes. The after care is important to the longevity and appearance of the ceramic coating. Don't skip out on them. Each time my has been updated (4 times now) it has looked perfect.

    • @andytomescu2968
      @andytomescu2968 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re right, it’s definitely inexperience. Turns out 2 separate installers worked my truck. The experienced guy bulk wrapped my hood and it turned out great. The inexperienced guy did the headlights and fenders with templates and each side turned out differently. It’s quite a poor job so I’m going to ask them to redo it. I wish I could upload pics here to show you.

    This is exactly why myself and other installers around me have stopped using Modesta coatings. They constantly clog and lose their self cleaning properties when that happens. Definitely not a good choice of coating for the customer who isn’t going to bring their car in at least once a month for a wash.

    I appreciate the work, but I'm not sure what we're supposed to learn from these tests. All the products on the rear doors/rear quarter panels seem to be performing the best, which makes sense given that they see the least amount of road and UV contamination.
    With these types of real world tests, I think you can only fairly compare two products at a time...one product on the left side of the car and one product on the right

      If you have watched the entire series you will learn the price of each coating, how to apply, how to properly maintain each coating , and what your customers will experience throughout the coatings life.

      It really depends, we get pretty harsh winters here in Chicago, so these ceramic coating results shouldn't be too far off from your experiences. However, it always depends on the car, if it's garage kept, the color of your car, how you wash it, etc. We hope this video was informative and helps you get one step closer to finding the product that works best for you!

      An average customer does not add toppers every 2-3 months or gets it detail every 2-3 months. The average customer will take that car back to the car wash, let bird poop sit on it or wash it them selfs with dish soap lol.
      The real test would have been fallowing up with real customers, but that may hurt you business or the coating companies when that 5yr coating turns out to be only 1 maybe 2yrs.

    • @ChicagoAutoPros
      @ChicagoAutoPros  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Mrjozz011 our average customer does add topper’s every 2-3 months (we do it for them).
      This car sits outside and gets shit on. Only gets washed every two weeks. Our average customer keeps their car in their garage.
      It’s as real as it gets. If a customer is going to treat their car like you described, I would not recommend they get a coating.

    • @Mrjozz011
      @Mrjozz011 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChicagoAutoPros well you have some great customers and great return business. I do I agree a customer shouldn’t get their car coated if they’re going to take it to a car wash or not maintenance themselves. The real truth is, ceramic coatings are only as good as how you maintenance them.
      But from real world experience I seen many owners tell me their car was coated 1yr or 2 yrs ago and that paint is flat that coating has been gone. I would say 65-70% of owners that get their cars coated don’t do what you do to maintain the car, but that’s great your customers maintain their ceramic costing.
