    Gyasi I am about to start college next week and when I found my schedule it made me question if I was in the correct major because I had zero to little CS classes because of my placement exam. Thanks for saying you didn’t took a lot of CS classes in your first semester no lie it makes me thankful that you said that because I thought all CS students took CS classes from the beginning and I somehow failed again thank you.
    Yes I talk to my advisor and I am computer science major but they want me to start slow and maybe next semester I’ll start taking CS classes.

    • @marquelldavid7130
      @marquelldavid7130 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm just about to finish my 1st semester at Arizona State University, and I have to say that professors will assume you have no programming background in an intro class. This class is meant to teach you the fundamentals of CS with a focus on a certain programming language from which you usually have assignments and labs. It depends on the college you're attending, but since you programmed with Python, you're pretty much good for Intro to CS because you at least have an idea.

      @thamanofthahour1202 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marquelldavid7130 so if they assume you have no experience and are a true newb, do the teachers at ASU explain and teach it in a way for newbs to understand it easily? Like someone who isn't familiar with all the terminology etc.

    • @marquelldavid7130
      @marquelldavid7130 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thamanofthahour1202 In truth, it's not easy to teach these concepts especially to someone new to programming, and people might not grasp things as fast as others because everyone is different. However, the professors do take the time to take a concept and break it into parts for the student to understand. They also provide visuals of how computer would interact with a program. But really, the best way anyone can understand programming concepts and terminology is to practice and experiment.

    • @thamanofthahour1202

      @@marquelldavid7130 Thanks for responding. Currently I'm doing this guys course where he teaches the basics of HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP. My plan is to get in school with MCC for my associates this year then ASU for the bachelors. I have noticed they have both Web Development and Computer Science degrees. For someone who is basically just going for full stack development to build websites/web apps/mobile apps, etc and maybe freelance down the road...would you recommend the web development degree or go more in depth with the CS degree?

    Hi, I have two questions I would really appreciate your help with! I’m from Parma Ohio, but I go to a small liberal arts school called Hiram in Portage County where I’m double majoring in Math and CS. My questions are these: First, do you think it would be a good idea to transfer to a larger school where I could get a BS in CS and give up the Math major, or should I stay where I am and get a BA in both? And second, since there are very few tech companies within an hour of my school, is a software development internship at a non-tech company worth it, or should I strive to get an internship at a company like Holland, that focuses on software? Thank you very much for your help and keep up the great work!

    • @GyasiLinje
      @GyasiLinje  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anytime! I would do whatever is best for you. I think a BS in CS alone is great. I also would look into possibly interning around the country because a lot of companies provide housing or will help. Also I would try to find an internship with a company that gives you the most experience. Some non software companies have great opportunities. I hope this help feel free to reach out to me on IG or Twitter.
