    The main purpose for an additional mixer is more headroom for audio. The controller has a limiter and will peak fast depending on your setup whether it’s with just powered tops or coupled with subs. The mixer will allow more volume and has a greater preamp for microphones. The mic preamp on most controllers are dog shit. The mixer is useful for better sound quality overall. The SR2 can get really harsh esp if your pushing it past 12 o clock master. I used to have the SR2 now i have the SRT. Much better sound quality imo.

    Use the 1/4" over the RCA. 1/4" in balanced and less susceptible to outside interference. There is a reason professional controllers (and other sound output) all use 1/4" and XLR - RCA are a good backup.

    • @abesickerz
      @abesickerz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      this was my question. so RCA out the controller to 1/4 to the mixer correct? what about auxilary for phone or ipad? would i need two 1/4" or one 1/4" to connect to phone? i guess it has to do with stereo and mono. sorry im new to mixers, just got a Behringer xenyx 802 and trying to learn lol thanks!

    • @bboymac84
      @bboymac84 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@abesickerz Its more about distance and Interference. The further away you are from the speaker the more likely you are vulnerable to outside interference. get good wires and you will be fine with RCA's

    Good video bro but. You should connect 1/4 from your controller to your mixer. Left side on channel one and right side on channel 2. You can use the pan to switch them to left and right on the channel. It’s better then RCA bro trust me.

      @terryriderbell4558 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, why is it better? especially, if I only have the RCA to XLR and no 1/4 (as we speak), what changes with the set up you sugested? whgat do you mean by using the pan to switch? Thanks

      Came to same the same. When you do that you get true stereo sound. You could achieve the same by plugging your RCA's into separate channels. Xlr and trs 1/4 are both balanced, rca is not, that is why it is better.

    I actually have that mixer & do the same with my DDJ 1000. It’s always better to use an external mixer simply because it pushes more sound plus all its capabilities. I purchased 2 actually one to take with me every weekend cuz I’m a mobile Dj & one for my home set up for podcasting. Great purchase & great vid bro. Now clean that garage lol

    The Architect Of Sound: Yes, it is a sage investment on a product that has been around probably; since, I would say around 1972. There is nomenclature about the mixer that has not been amended all that much in 50 years; so that, it very much intuitive. The pre-amps are very solid and this will last many, many years. Keep up the good work and enjoy your sound quality.

    Thanks Brother. I'm a new mobile Dj and have now gotten to the point where I'm looking at getting a line mixer as up until now, I've been connecting directly to my speakers from my controller. I admit I had been been intimidated by the mixers all together. After watching several videos, I'm convinced of the value this would bring to my setup and now zeroing in on what particular mixer I will purchase. Showing how you connect everything was really helpful and I thank you much.

    Buy a controller with built in four channel stand alone mixer.... for best sound, ALWAYS use the XLR, or 1/4 inch balanced cables when they are available. Computer headphone outputs a lot of times have modified eq settings to make headphones sound better, but can sound horrible through a dj sound system. And music from youtube..... I'm not EVEN going down that sound quality rabbit hole........

    • @DjMarkyBatch
      @DjMarkyBatch 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess what he is saying is if power goes to the controller it’s not going to help. The stand alone mixer part of the controller would still need power to work! If the adaptor breaks, it’s game over unless you plug a phone directly to another input in the speaker and daisy chain to second speaker. Most active speakers have second input option and relevant output, in a worse case scenario

      Most high end controllers have 24bit 32 float so the need for a mixer seems redundant. I personally don’t use a mixer in addition to a mixer. But I use a Rane 72MK2 so pls make it make sense going from a controller into an external mixer then off to powered speakers. I see this more often than not out in the field.

      I have exactly the same set up, including the same dj controller case. When you plug in your mixer to your computer via usb, you have a dedicated channel on your mixxer that controls your over all sounds of your computer. This comes more in handy when you use the mixer to mix digitally on different applications, such as garage band and such. Its basically an external sound card. I used it a lot to record podcast. This mixer is very nice and it enhances your outputs.

    I have a question, what do you guys use for music. For example I use tidal for music, but sometimes I can’t use it on my laptop all the time. I need a hot spot. To help with internet.

    Good video, can you do a video of how you use it? Like, how do you control the volume? Through the controller or mixer?

      I have the same exact setup and i personally set my mixxer volume to my desire level and i use my controller to adjust volume depending on what you're playing. Not all songs have the same quality and volume.

    Great video, thanks! Just wondering if I can setup without a controller? I plan to karaoke with youtube tracks. Also plan to play dance songs in between karaokes.

    What is the safest / best order of turning the equipment off and removing cables in a setup like this after a set? Trying to avoid those uncomfortable loud noises and damaging equipment.🤔

    • @ThePOVDJ
      @ThePOVDJ 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Always turn your speakers / PA system off first, before anything else. Then you can unplug / turn off / disconnect anything you like and it doesn't matter. Likewise at the beginning of the setup - connect everything up and power on first, THEN turn your soundsystem / PA on LAST.
      If you're working in a venue where you're not in control of the PA system, be sure to check they have turned you down or powered down front of house before you disconnect anything.

    I go from my DJM-S9 to my Yamaha MG12XU. I use the compression on each of those channels. Also, my mic goes into the Yamaha, not the S9. This way, I can record the mix straight out of the S9 without me talking.

      Serato does not record the mic output anyway with or without the Yamaha board.

    Very informative video.. So by using your mixer there is no need for an amplifier?

    • @RamboVibez
      @RamboVibez 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you’re using powered speakers no, amps are built in, unless you’re using passive (non powered speakers).

    Great video...I have a question how do you hook up a powered subwoofer to the mixer..??

    • @djchikilin2956
      @djchikilin2956 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Used the main outputs to connect to the subwoofers. From your subwoofer, use your output to connect to your mids. It's basically a chain you can keep going for as long as you possibly can lol

    Yo Barney!! Thank you Brother for this So Helpful 😉 So Here's my issue. I hooked up Everything just like You said But I only get sound from Controller to My Speakers . I tried adding the Small 6 Channel Beheringer Mixer as You said, it Played from my Phone for 10 Seconds, then No Sound. What's that sound like to You? Baad Cable, Can a Mixer go bad? However I can Run Microphones through the Mixer, But No music Sound. I Have Dual RCA running from My Mixer to My Controller Maybe its that. I don't know Bro Any Suggestions.
    Thanks Again 😊 Also, I have A beginners Party Controller , it has no Mic Jacks. I say that because You Pulled A Quarter inch From Your Controller. My Controller has No Quarter inch Sockets
