- We love TV ON THE RADIO. While learning this song, we learned that Gerard Smith, TVOTR's bass player, passed away from a long battle with cancer on April 20. We offer this song as a Tribute. We hope we did it justice. Please enjoy.

...three years later... this is STILL my favourite cover of any song, EVER. ✨
tough to beat
It’s top 3 for me easy
Same
It’s 🔥
Ever try Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt"
I’ve probably listened to this seven million times but just now it just dawned on me how much I appreciate how that dude just fuckin nailed the harmony with a sledgehammer and absolutely played the ever loving shit out of that banjo.
Seriously is one of the best covers I've ever heard of any song. This is beautiful
I listen to it like one a month! Lol
I don’t know why but I listen to this song at least once a week for years already. It’s so perfect
Sometimes everything falls into place and perfection is achieved. This is one of those times
Absolutely. I listen to this so much. Love the original. Hard not to show this first tho. Amazing , and elite top tier cover.
Tough for a cover to surpass the original. Ryan Adams did it with Wonderwall and they’ve done it here. No question.
Slowed down I notice just how damn great the lyrics and imagery are in this song.
Word. I’ve always been a huge fan of the song. I always thought it was a banger, but you kinda get to know it a little more in this cover. It’s an awesome song and a great cover.
The lyrics are a truth drop to those with ears to hear.
Absolute favourite Halloween/October song. A story about Werewolves and Vampires. About losing control to your inner urges in the night and transforming. Beautiful
It's been 9 years since I found this gem, and this is still my favorite song ever.
A great cover doesn't try to sound like the original, it tries to pay homage to the song writer by infusing it with a little of your self. This is a perfect cover.
Nailed it with that comment
Yes!
Agreed. Beautiful
Não poderia ter definido melhor!
Reminds you of all the other remarkable covers out there…chef’s kiss 🎉
Thanks True Detective for introducing me her.
Diego Francisco da Silva ...same here...I kinda feel a li'l stupid for not knowing about Lera earlier...she's great...
Diego Francisco da Silva Yeah same here 2 ^^
Me too. But still it's kinda bad none of her songs is the opening one. But Nevermind is very good though
+Robert Bartelmes True Detective was her break so you wouldn't have heard of her. I read she knew somebody who knew somebody etc that was putting together the soundtrack for True Detective. She played for them and.....here we are.
+Diego Francisco da Silva One of the few but best things to come out of that season...
So… I’m just now finding this 11 years after you posted it. Wow. What a great cover of a great song. You’ve really done it justice and something special here.
You will see your own comment every few months as you return to this little beauty.
same
Lera Lynn played this version of Wolf Like Me on her concert last December here in Europe. Easily one of my best concert moments ever. Simply amazing.
His name is Ben Lewis and he is incredibly talented as well
It proves that a good song is good in any genre
Keep coming back a decade later! Love this cover.
Same here !
They wanted to jam out so badly towards the end. I love watching people who love what they are doing!
I’ve been listening to this a couple times a day for two weeks. That almost never happens. This is just so awesome!
Buddy showed me this maybe two months ago. Quite a few views since then.
@@justinsmith6955 only about 200 were me 😇 lol
I find myself coming back to this so often. For me, TVtR's performance on letterman is the most electric rendition of wolf like me. This however, is just as good IMO, just different.
12 years later and your cover and performance is as raw and heart wrenching as the day you both recorded it. Just beautiful.
Poop
I was reminded of this version tonight and immediately had to look it up. Still hits all these years later.
Lera will do that for you.
HARD. hits so FUCKING HARD. my god.
i can't get over this cover. its absolutely phenomenal. i've probably listened to it like 10 times a day since I found it. thank you for creating this.
Still my favorite rendition of this song! I wish it was in iTunes! I have the other version by Lera Lynn and it’s great, but I love the tempo and simplicity of this one!
I love this cover, and the original at the same time. The original is very sensual. It makes me think of someone who is cursed, and trying to tempt someone into their lifestyle (or curse, if you want to imagine) because he is lonely. Lera Lynn's version makes me think of someone who is outcast, and trying to convince someone to share her lifestyle because it can help them both feel whole . Same lyrics, but two very different results.
Still one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen...
Every single word of this song speaks to my soul. This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my life, I could probably sit and talk about it for hours.
I will attend that discussion group
i guess i'll attend too
When are we meeting?
My favorite song, I can’t help but reflect on my life when I listen to this song.. it makes me happy and sad all at the same time ....thank you for this..
A fantastic song to start with, and a masterclass in how to do a cover version. I like this as much as the original, but for a different mood.
The banjo just elevates this already great song
Thisis not just an incredible cover but it hits different when delivered by a woman
That beautiful look they gave themselves at the end
I CANNOT stop listening. This has been playing in my head for the last week...
Most underrated singer
This is still my favourite cover of any song ever.
This is simply amazing. The original makes one want to drive like a maniac, your cover is for sitting and soaking in.
can't say how many times i've listened to this over the years, absolutely stunning
There is magic happening here.
The best covers are the ones that are so different than the original without departing too much from who they're covering. This is perfect.
it really never gets old.. idc how many years i have listened to this
I was at the concert in İstanbul yesterday. Listened this one and the others live. I'm still on the mood, feeling the same joy. What a beautiful and special night for me.
My life has been much better ever since I met Lera.
can't explain how much this cover effects me. it's off the chain
Fuck yes thank god I listen to 88.7 public radio here in NC otherwise I would not be hearing this girl. Incredible
Yet another proof how amazingly talented lera lynn is. Simply soulfoul.
I love this cover. Her voice is so soothing to me.
great cover - such a versatile song
this is one of the very few covers of this song that doesnt make me cringe before clicking anything else on the screen... thank you both
Saw her live a few days ago. Fantastic show. She's even better live and very cool in person. She was good enough to take a few minutes to talk to every fan who wanted to. First Class.
You have to view songs like this separately and not as covers. You have to accept that a cover is never going to be like the original. You just have to appreciate the artistic rendition of such songs. They did a great job. I love this version.
I absolutely love this performance. Lera is awesome, and the guy's deep voice complements her so well (i'm sorry, i couldn't find ur name).
Okay you guys absolutely rocked this!!
My favorite cover of my favorite song about werewolves
FirePitHuke I hear ya brother
I don't think it's about werewolves...
I also dont think it is about literal werewolves.
If you want a song about actual werewolves...here you go:
th-cam.com/video/w4L2mVCl-XI/w-d-xo.html
And gues what...it is a fantastic song as well.
It's about sex, through the metaphor of werewolves! Best of both worlds really.
@@sshennanigans7787 Female werewolves, now that makes my fantasies go wild. Come to think about it, the one good thing about the movie Love Bite.
I can’t get through this song without crying! It’s absolutely beautiful
These two personnel are a very good combo together.
Every single bit of this is perfect.
So I know this song.
I thought I knew this song .
Her vocals are such where I can hear the words and SO for the first time I know the words , the parallels to addiction are SO apparent it's been given a depth by the simplicity that I had not known this song could reach.
Real tears. Bravo.
Well that guy is just gorgeous
Still Badass.
I am glad, that there are still musicians, who only need a few steel strings, a little wood and their voices to create something that good.
god i lilke it. only thing was missing was my favorite part. 'howlin forever"
... I am so hooked on Lera & this song ... I feel like that fish she sings about ... "gotta bust that box, gotta gut that fish" ... though I like to sing "gonna" rather than "gotta" ... hard to imagine a song that has a richer, more vital, set of lyrics ...
You make life worth living
You have no idea how many times I've listened to this. I haven't watched True Detective (which is a tragedy), but I do like TV on the Radio, but this is beautiful beautiful.
One of the best covers I've ever heard on TH-cam.
Agree 👍
True word's
It's the second cover of TVOTR I'm watching today and you have commented on both of them.
Parts from bout 1:50. Espically 225-238. Most beautiful thing ever can die now lol
You two are a God send
10 years too late but.. God damn, I listen to this every chance I get. I absolutely butcher singing it when I'm on long road trips, but I've never been happier to run a song, because I can't help but sing it.
Original and this are my forever favourites! Absolutely mind blowing 🎉
words cannot describe
Found this in 2021 & I've listened to this 20+ times tonight. Truly, I've lost count.
Country isn’t really my thing… but that was effin BADDASS!!!! 🤘🏻🔥💚
Folk
te amo pinche Lera LLynn
Always come back to this. Has to be one of the best covers ever
If there is something that completes Lera's voice is that dude... GODLIKE :)
Amazing! I thought to myself, there's no way this can work. Bluegrass TVOTR??? No way! Not only does it work, it was fantastic! Video of the month for me! Great job!!!
Lera, you are a gift from the god, no doubt.
I think I've watched this a couple times a day since I first heard it, awesome
If you miss the pace of the original, speed this up to 1.25 - sounds Rad !!!!
+jodysoldman lol looks funny as hell
+jodysoldman Dude, right on! :P
+jodysoldman good call, thanks!
+jodysoldman it sounds a lot like the original haha
+jodysoldman That is really amazing
As great as any performer is, adding harmony and a banjo player takes it to another level. Can't take my ears off of what he's bringing to the mix.
There goes my 💜
Good lord this rules.
Fair play lera Lynn Is a savage singer if you don't like it that's you're problem
after all these years this is still my fav song
I dont know how many times i listen to this song i feels like its getting better each time god I like it
Goosebumps every time I listen. One of the all time best covers..
once you've found a love like that, you never forget it
just knew them already ❤ them
damn that voice....I got cold chills...
author..author !..no disrespect...you honored a great song and words flow like fine wine or finer word...just great!!
Was listening to tv on the radio and accidentally pressed this video. ...one of those happy ones :)
This song, this version, I need it my life, over and over and over again, like every day! Like air!
Rocks out. TV on the radio were genius. Great cover.
Great harmony
Listening on 1.5 speed makes it more punk rock.
I love TV On The Radio and I love Lera Lynn. Therefore , I hear this and I get to mourn
Lera is Beautie!
I like it too..... another great track by that Dame Lera Lynn. Love it ! ❤❤
Thank you Pretty Little Liars for introducing me to this incredible singer. Been listening for about a year now.
This is real 2011 energy!!
God!! Love you Lera
.. congratulations
This is unreal
Oh dang, I just learned of Lera Lynn and she's playing in two hours but four hours away in Chicago. Next time I'll be there!!!!!
Brilliant, great cover with feeling that offers something different from the also brilliant original. Congratulations.
I finally saw her smile ever so briefly.
