I love how you react to Roland.. to think that he could hardly carry a conversation in English makes you think he could not deliver a song with English lyrics..he comes from a remote province in the southern Philippines, and the interpreter speaks to him in their native dialect & not in Tagalog, which is the national language there. But when he started to sing, his diction in English is just on point..

Roland, relatively less in formal education, actually understands English but has difficulty speaking the language. He wanted to answer the questions directly but could not, so he just turned his back teary eyed out of frustrations. He got his composure back after Heide's hug. That hug really meant good to him as he was to sing the song "When a Man Loves a Woman" which he interpreted with so much heart and soul that touched the hearts of women in the audience and thus the ensuing impromptu standing ovation. I don't think anyone can & will ever interpret the song the way he did. It was an interpretation that caught the attention of Michael Bolton, the popular original recording artist, that prompted him to post the performance on his FB account.
